i discovered negima through a long series of very specific events when i was 12. I love this series even though so many people are disappointed by it. I cried so frickin hard the last few episodes, and rewatched the series and cried again. It's very nostalgic for me! I just finished the second series after a year of trying to make enough money to buy it on itunes. Who cares if it's fanservice-filled! I'm 15 so I see that stuff every day!

When Asuna was young, she was hunted by demons everywhere she went, which caused massive destruction everywhere. She made a deal with a demon king in order to prevent this. (Can't remember the exact specifics of said deal.) The price she would pay for that was, that the day she turned 14 years of age, when the clock struck 12 at midnight, she would die... or something like that. As mentioned, I can't remember the exact details.

When Asuna was young, you made a deal with the demon king that she would die on her 16? birthday at midnight inexchange for not causing destruction. Because everywhere she went, something bad happened. When she was about to tell Negi how she really felt about him, she fell lifelessy and Negi caught her realzing that she had died. I think their going to try go back in time and stop the contract. Thats what I think :D

i think it was on her 14 but im not sure u could be right. but you are right they do go back in time in the anime. im not sure about the manga cuz i started after she died cause i only watched the anime until like the 6th book then i went on. any1 know how many books there are in the series? i have up to the 15th.
