  • Awesome run in a 288. It takes a set of big brass ones to go that fast on the salt. Kudos. How fast are you going to run next year?

  • n 8.8-litre twin-turbo V8 engine pushing out between 2,000bhp and 2,500bhp,

    holy f**k.....

    i want that.....

  • You ignorant people are you even watch what you are you writing?Does an engine makes a car? NO! If it wasn't the ferrari chassis, it would have been slower. If I take an viper and put an ferrari engine, will I be a traitor to the Americans? Just because you hide behind the anonymity of the internet, doesn't make you someone special. This guy spend a lot of money to go that fast and no one, even I,have the right to tell him what to do. No 2900cc engine can reach 275 mph. Think of this for a bit.

  • You dumb people are you even watch what you are you writing?Does an engine makes a car? NO! If it wasn't the ferrari chassis, it would have been slower. If I take an viper and put an enzo engine, will I be a traitor to the Americans? Just because you hide behind the anonymity of the internet, doesn't make you someone special. • Absolutely awesome car, but the video is ruined by way too much music and not enough engine. Why do so many people posting car vids think we want a music vid?

If you love cars, you only want the exhaust.....

  • Wow what a beast!! How much fuel does it use at top speed? Like 50 l/100 km. At that speed whats the cars range if the tank was ful?

  • Kudos P4bynorwood! And for the whiners that have nothing better to do than bitch and moan that it's not a real Ferrrari, it's an American engine, the music is gay or whatever, you should all be ashamed of yourself. I'm sure none of you are hardcore Ferrari collectors so why not respect the unbelievable feat of engineering that has gone into making this car and respond appropriately? I for one, am in awe and take my hat off to P4bynorwood

  • 442 km/h OSOM!

  • Good job sir!

  • Ferrari rocks!

  • So, basically all of you that are mad that this has a chevy engine in it are saying that Ferrari can't do 275 MPH. But a twin turbo american v8 can. Suck it.

  • Great job. The worst part of a Ferrari is the crap engine. Replace the unreliable fireball with a built to last American piece and keep the beautiful 288 GTO body. Awesome.

  • I remember when I did the complete restoration on this car back in 2007. For the whiners that are unaware this is not an actual 288 GTO it was originally a 308 stretched and rebodied to be a GTO replica. Who in their right mind would tear apart a 288 GTO when there were only 50 here? This is a real Ferrari in every sense, if anything the crap that they built after 2000 shouldnt even be considered a Ferrari as in the like of the Enzo, 430, 599, 612, and 458. Some of the most hideous looking cars.

  • Awesome example of carbuilding! But Youtube should drop the comments. Who needs people whining about its not having a Ferrari engine though they'll never own a Ferrari, its engine, or a twin turbo big block.

  • That is NOT a Ferrari.

  • badass! props for doing it different!

  • Awesome vid. Congrats on the record

  • @Hotcheese0 the car was originally a wreck, it was either junkyard or this. i researched on this car

  • You people need to understand that the car was totalled and to repair it was to cost more than the car. Everybody saying it's ruined are only saying it because they're American.

  • Nice ;) Its a ferrari..maybe not the engine but the car is..did you guys know that many cars have an engine produced by other car companies anyways? ;P I like!

  • Is it me? ? Ought to have gone faster... with the horsepower ? Bugati Veyron 1100BHP...256mph...thought this `Ferrari` should have gone 300+ mmmm

  • @sofalugger If you were to compare the efficiency of each car from an aerodynamic perspective, you'd likely find that the extra 800/900BHP is needed to overcome the density of the air @ these speeds in relation to the Veyron. I'd hazard a guess that this car would be capable of 305/310MPH on its best ever 'perfect storm' conditions.

Maybe the owner of the video could answer this for us? i'm no engineer/aerodynamycist but I do have a pretty good arm chair grasp of the theories of motor racing.

  • I think it's owner only can be a tipical american with tipical american point of view.. A real fan of the italian cars NEVER can cut out the stallion's heart and replace it with a piece of metal.. It can be done only an american who not cares anything and thinks the american always better. Very sad..

  • @kgbthegod the car was originally a wreck, it was either junkyard or this.

  • It is named "Ferrari" but it's not that. It is only an "italian stallion" shell with an american GM engine.

  • bunch of jokers man, 8.8GM V8??? Do they want to wake up with a horses head?? (or 'sleep' with the fishes??)

  • why even bother calling it a Ferrari? pointless.

  • that song made even this awesome 275mph ferrari incredibly Gay

  • What a waste of such a great car, I hope you die from AIDS good sir.

  • Great commuter....

  • There really should be an asterisk.

A Ferrari 288GTO without a Ferrari engine is rather something else indeed.

  • Don't get me wrong, Great effort but it can hardly be called the fastest ferrari without a ferrari motor??

  • We have set two other records with Ferrari engines FMS class and FGT class. 1983 Ferrari 308QV the record in FGT was just broken this year after 26 years. We will go back and reset the GGT 2.0 liter and GMS class next year withe all Ferrari Power. We have held the class CMS record as well at 199.997 MPH some years ago. We have run 4 different cars at Bonneville, 2 GTOs , 2 308s. One 308 with a Testarossa flat 12

  • @p4bynorwood First, I would like to congratulate you (or anyone who did this astonishing job), but, did you have to use a Ferrari 288 GTO?

  • Wow! What an amazing achievement in chassis engineering and aerodynamics! Props to Norwood for not shying away from offending the sensibilities of ignorant morons and poseurs.

  • "World's Fastest Ferrari"....with a Chevy engine.

  • I am not the owner of the car and I don't think it would be right to say how much he has invested in the car.

  • That was awesome. About how much would you say it cost to build that vehicle?

  • The 288 has a Big Block chevy motor 540cid. the class that the car runs in requires 500cid or bigger, Ferrari does not have a motor with that large of displacement. The chassis is all Ferrari and no other cars with a 94" wheel base have gone that fast.

  • Except your not really using Ferrari cars in the way you would want us to assume. Dropping a twin turbo'd american V8 into a 288 GTO shell, well ...it kinda stops being a Ferrari per se. So why bother ?

  • Awesome car.. But engine sounds American.,.
