God bless you. You are informing people on the evils of these drugs. I'm currently on xanax...I went from .5mg to .25mg(extremely low dose), and I had some trembling and brain zaps when I lowered my dosage. You can have bad side effects from xanax, even at a low dose. Xanax is not an SSRI, but it is an extremely dangerous/addictive drug. Again, I really appreciate this video. Whatever happens in your life, know that God loves you. I'm glad that your symptoms seem to be improving.
This happened to me. I didnt know what it was from. I was given lexapro in 2006, and it worked fine. However in early 2011, I started feeling strange, dizzy, loss of balance, high anxiety, diaerrea, upset stomach, etc. Then i was at a hotel with my dad on april 27th 2011, i will never forget.
I was about to fall aleep, trying, i awoken in horror, felt like i couldnt breathe, and a burst of panic that was intestifying, forcing me to move, i walked around best western for 10 minutes in horror
i dont understand why your doctor prescribed you lexapro for insomnia... its not even designed for that disorder, its an anxiety and server depression.. your doctor is clearly unaware of how to properly prescribe medication
Thank you so much. Just flushed the Lexapro I was just prescribed down the toilet. I have panic attacks about once a month, but i'm slowly learning ho to deal with them. Also taking Phenibut and L Theanine and they seem to work. Gonna try Holy Basil in the near future.
@EcnelOvelam holy shit so is it true that antidepressants cause irreversable brain damage for everyone? i have taken celexa for OCD since i was 13, it cant be true thought because look at people like howie mandell who have taken this drug there whole life for OCD hes not brain damaged can someone please explain? thank you
if anyone finds themselves in need of a med to normalize... just smoke weed. trust me. its not as evil as branded. and hey, no side effects like this.
"I still have a reality disconnect. Sometimes I just get this intense feeling like, I can't control myself... I know that must sound very strange." This same thing happened to me. From what I understand, it's called "derealization" and Celexa sent me into the deepest state of this you could imagine. Ever since I took that drug I still get episodes of this. It's so uncomfortable because I feel like I'm just in a dream. The worst is when I am dreaming, wake up, and it still feels like I'm asleep.
@TheStreisandEffect holy shit so is it true that antidepressants cause irreversable brain damage for everyone? i have taken celexa for OCD since i was 13, it cant be true thought because look at people like howie mandell who have taken this drug there whole life for OCD hes not brain damaged can someone please explain? thank you

@dannyboidj1 No, not for everyone. For some reason my brain won't accept any med that boost my serotonin levels artificially. I even tried taking "natural" supplements later like St. Johns Wort and then 5HTP and got shaky partial seizure like symptoms (although nothing like what happened on Celexa). If you've been taking the medicine with no effects then you're probably ok as your body seems to be accepting it. It's been about 6 months now and I'm finally starting to feel normal.
@TheStreisandEffect shit man thats good to hear, you should try seeing a naturopath who uses orthomolecular healing, not sure if you ever heard of it. so thats great...your starting to feel like how you did before you went on celexa? long were you taking it for if you dont mind me asking?
@dannyboidj1 I only took it three days... the third day it gave me a seizure... so to help me "come down" they started me on a small dose (2.5 mg) of lexapro to see if the slight diff in chemical composition would have a diff effect... it put me in space and made me feel similar de-realization... the weird thing is at the time it made me into such a completely diff person i didn't even know it was the drug. I thought my brain had been permanently fried from the Celexa...
@TheStreisandEffect well thats great good for you im happy. ive taken them for 8 years no really bad side effects but ive decided i want to go off....i think this serotonin syndrome and being permanently "brain fried" from drugs is rare, with exception if you are on powerful drugs from a long period of time then it might be too late but even then there is till hope. would you say this is accurate, or am i screwed being on it for 8 years
@dannyboidj1 But yes, I'm feeling like I did before I took any of that horrible stuff. I was on lexapro over a month. They kept telling me it probably wasn't the drugs making me feel that way but after a little research, every single freaking thing that was happening to me I found happened to other people. I stopped it all and after about a week most of the strong crazy effects had went away. It took a few months though for my brain to really start to feel like "me" again but I do.
I had never been suicidal either. Since that moment, nothing has been the same for me. I'm thousands of dollars in dept and I feel like I can't "access" part of my brain that I used to. This probably doesn't make sense but a lot of what I used to feel just isn't there, and it's been over six months since this occurred. I've also experienced intermittent episodes of mild shaking and deal with strange sensations where my entire body feels "out of sync". I hope that I eventually recover from this.
This lasted for 10-15 minutes accompanied by the worst feeling of doom and dread I have ever felt. I was rushed to the ER and the ER doc must have thought I was on some kind of drugs (well technically I was) and he said I just must be stressed out... WTF??? I'm the chillest person you could imagine, I don't "stress out" with violent convulsions, flailing my limbs around like that. I felt like I was living in an alternate reality and the only way to escape might be to kill myself.
I was prescribed 20mg of Celexa for some pre-syncope episodes I had experienced due to just starting a cardio workout. Apparently the doc thought they might be due to anxiety and didn't inform me that what I was taking was an antidepressant and just said it would help "balance out my brain chemistry". The first day I felt, shaky, second, shaky and nauseous, third day I thought I was going to vomit and instead collapsed into full body convulsions, violently shaking and uttering nonsense.
This exact thing happened to me two years ago. I took one pill of pristiq (similar to effexor) I went from enjoying life but very stressed out at my job (which is why i took the pill) to being a complete wreck. It has been two years and i have only recently gotten a job and started working again. I went from working as a vp at a marketing agency to working at a call center making a third of what i used to. They then put me on benzos which worsened the problem. I'm still healing. Keep at it.
I got these same symptoms from Paxil CR. I went through them for like a month straight. It's been about 10 years since I've been off the pills and I'm still messed up beyond repair.
Be careful guys. These pill pushers that are making billions could care less that they are destroying people's lives.
@5570933zQ holy shit so is it true that antidepressants cause irreversable brain damage for everyone? i have taken celexa for OCD since i was 13, it cant be true thought because look at people like howie mandell who have taken this drug there whole life for OCD hes not brain damaged can someone please explain? thank you
PS: arnt there stories of many kids who recover once taking something like 12 drugs at once? thank you and god bless, just want to hear your explanation
@dannyboidj1 Probably not... I think my case was a special circumstance. I was taking Paxil CR (controlled release) and my doc had me cutting them in half. These pills are designed to slowly release medication throughout the day and when I was cutting them, it released considerably faster. The release of so much medication caused Serotonin syndrome. It is possible that there was no brain damage, but I can say for certain that I've been having troubles since then; 10 years now.
i was put on celexa to help treat a bunch of concussion symptoms.. it made me worse but i stuck with it for 5 months. a stopped taking it one day and had horrible withdrawls plus a lot of brain damage symptoms. 6 months later im still extremly light senitive cant ride in a car, read, write, or go to school, im getting better but my progress is slow im only 17 and missing my junior year in highschool, typing and reading this is a great effort, if i let my eyes relax it also seems objects shift
@thatsheavydude I am sorry to hear this. I don't understand why celexa would be prescribed for head trauma. I hope you can continue to heal, the brain can recover from more than we think. Go slow and let your mind heal, stress only slows this process down.
@wdtony it was prescribed a few months after my concussion to treat residual effects.. im getting better and beginning to have a clearer less head achey blocked train of though. i have hope i will get my former active life back. My vision is also getting better, less light sensitivity, longer reading and car ride endurance. thanks for your reply, good luck and health
@wdtony I don't understand why I was prescribed Celexa for pre-syncopal episodes. It had nothing to with anxiety and I wasn't stressed... I didn't even realize Celexa was an anti-depressant. My doctor said it would help "balance out" my body chemistry. Apparently a lack of Serotonin was not my problem which is most likely why I experienced serotonin syndrome. If you ask me some doctors are just getting lazy and tossing any unexplainable problem in the "anxiety" basket.
@thatsheavydude It's not that everyone can have this happen to them, this is just the case with some people. You shouldn't worry though, if you've been taking it for that long, you should be fine. For me it took about three weeks.
I am so worried tony can you please send me an inbox about what the doctor said about tests not being able to show the brain damage caused by these drugs. so your telling me a PET scan, an MRI or a CT scan will not show any nerve or cell damage in the brain? I am currently weening off my antidepressant which will be effective in time, i have been on celexa since i was 13 but a very low dose up until 17 where i wad given 40, now i am back to 20 mg.....please tell me there is still hope!
I spoke with an ER Doctor yesterday who deals with patients who have Serotonin Syndrome. He informed me that approximately half of the patients he has encountered in the hospital that had Serotonin Syndrome have died. He told me that according to my description of the experience I had from the Lexapro, I am lucky to have survived. He also explained that there can be an enormous amount of brain damage caused Serotonin Syndrome that cannot be found by any testing. This confirmed my conclusion.
Hi Tony. Your video is great. Very informative and will help many to see the truth about these poisons. Its terrible what happend to you. The same happened to me. The reward system in my brain is almost completely destroyed as well as some of my glands are damaged from the withdrawel and I loss all my emotions and feeling. But with your experiance you gave me hope that I can recover. Thank you. It is amazing how you healed from the strokes. You are helped and gave hope to me as well as to others
I have nervous system damage from first coming off of a benzodiazepine and then a steroid for my asthma. I also have Akasthesia sometimes. It is terrible. My problems have morphed into weakness and motor problems. I know allot of people like you who have slowly healed over time.
I am experiencing brain damage from the Zoloft I was on for 5 months. I thought I had it really bad, until I started reading about how bad the neurological damage could get. I am only 14 years old, but your video gives me hope that my brain will repair itself. Thank you wdtony
@BlackoutArchive Oh my God, you are only 14? You will probably get better, I don't believe you should have ever been prescribed Zoloft. Yes, the brain can and does repair but it sometimes takes a long time. Please research any drug before taking it and pay attention to proper ways to withdraw. Hang in there until you heal. -Tony
@wdtony Thank you for your words of hope. What worries me is that it has been 11 months, and I have seen absolutely no signs of improvement. I guess my body was just really really sensitive to the drug. Have you had good experiences with vitamin supplements? Have they helped you at all?
@BlackoutArchive There is something called "downregulation" and other scientists call this "diebacl". I believe this is where nerve cells in the brain wither and die to some extent due to loss of serotonin receptors. The good news is that nerve cells take up to 18 months to heal and even after that, the brain has ways of re-wiring itself. So I am sorry this is taking so long for you but you will probably get better in time.... a lot of time. I improved each year over a 3 year period.
@tjfreak Thank you. My psychiatrist prescribed me the Zoloft in April 2010. I was 13 then. A year before that, I was prescribed Adderall, and when that stopped working, I was switched over to Prozac, and then finally to Zoloft.
