We need to realize that the vast majority of people don't agree with their party of choice on every issue, they just pick the party they disagree with least. The truth is, the welfare state in America is VASTLY ungenerous compared to most others. It is NOT possible to sponge off the taxpayer for years on end. The benefits eventually run out, and there are more stringent requirements for many programs than you've been led to believe.  Besides, the data does NOT show that most recipients of these programs are just deadbeats looking for a handout. Sure, a small minority are, but most are trying to get back on their feet.
