I say flagrant. Artest hardly made a play on the ball, opting instead to make a play on Gasol's arm/shoulder. The rule is rather simple. If the refs feel that the player decided to wipe out his body instead of making a play on the basketball, it's a flagrant foul.

Also, if last year the NBA escorted Kobe to the finals to meet up with Lebron, then why didn't the Cavs make it to the finals???? Perhaps the Lakers legitimately fought their way passed everyone and the Cavs fell short?

As a Lakers fan, I will call that a hard foul. He played the ball. But the reason they called it a flagrant 2 I assume is Artest's history of fights and the whole tone of the series.
