  • The Rukheng race is admitted to be of the same racial stock as the Burmas or Birmans, and is understood to have greatly preceded that nation in civilization. The Burmas, indeed, derive their own origin from the Rukheng, whom they generally dominate Burma Kyi, or the great Barmas, and they consider the Rukheng as the most ancient and original dialect of the Burma Language. (Leyden. J: On the language and Literature of the Indo-China Nations) ASIATIC RESEARCHERS, Vol. X, 1811)

  • Nice rendition .Great choice of talent collaboration !!!!!I have always loved the incredible Rakhine song ans now really like TU Tu ,MG TU and NyaSeenKhaing ...Thanks .

  • your song makes me feel very strongly . you should keep working hard. We will continue to support you. We gotta fight for our homeland.

  • I agree with you Thanizphyu. My grandfather told me that Burmse took the Arakanese Alphabet and make their own.According to the history, Arakan was muc earlier than Bumrese and we could say that Burmese is one of the dialect of Arakanese.

  • Infact, Arakanese language is jux one of the dialects of Burmese language like Tavoy and Myeik. i agree they had had own dynasties. however the culture is very similar to Burmese and they r more influenced by indian or south Asian culture. Anyhow i wish to be long life Arakan and eacape from militry junta.

  • so luiwinni, r u saying that Burmese culture is completely different from Indian, south Asian culture? cultures are mostly similar by where it's surrounded. i dont know which adopted which first but Arkan Dynasties were earlier than Burmese. What i had heard is Burmese language was adopted from Arakanese's and Mon's. Peace \/

  • I believe the Rakhine are offshoots of the Bamar who migrated from the Tibetan plateau, after the Bamar established themselves in the Irrawaddy valley. If anything the Dawei have an 'older' version of Burmese, because they still have the la-hswe, so instead of "kyaung" (school), they say "klong." But the Rakhine absorbed Burmese spelling reforms in the 1600s, meaning they're less distant to the Bamar than the Taninthayi Bamar groups.

  • let me know if you have any proof that Rakhine are a offshoot of Bamar. I just don't want you to say only by what you believe.

  • hello ThazinPhyu, i didn't say Burmese culture is not influenced by indian culture but arakanese are influenced more than burmese are. yeah.. arakan kingdoms are much earlier at that time they had their own scripts distant from burmese alphabet. Burmese copied from Mon script but not from Arakanese... nice to talk with u abt the culture. share me some arakanese culture :D

  • For the word (And) in English, they use (Nei). That is Burmese. In our Rakhine language, it is (Nent).

  • That makes sense, in standard Burmese, the formal way to say 'and' is "hnint."

  • (Gaung Kin) for sky is Burmese word. We, Rakhine people, call it (Gaung Khun) for sky in English.

  • you have to feel the lyric to get the best out of listening arakanese music. almost every lyric of arakanese songs are very meaningful. be discovering yourself.
