  • utter madness, brilliant. and nice to see 2 composers from my country :)

  • fascinating!

  • What's scary is I've heard some of Alkan's stuff to sound like this.

  • His studies mask my own, which I had thought to be remarkable..I am in awe.

  • "Quite a common thing among composers of that era to be extremely left-wing (Xenakis, Stockhausen etc)"?

I would say: quite a common thing among all great people of all kinds of every era!

  • 1:50 - 1:53

    Drafonforce?

  • Oh my fucking God, i had never noticed this until now but Allan Holdsworth Lookin Glass sounds very similar to this. As far as i'm concerned, Nancarrow and Holdsworth are definitely from the same planet. BTW they are both awesome!!

  • perturbing....albeit in a good way

  • Where you find this record? it is'nt from Wergo and seems to be played by a disklavier grand piano. Can you tell me something about? Thank's

  • It's a German label, MDG Scene. This is a Bösendorfer Grand, Conlon's own instrument. It's also the best sounding recording available

  • reaaally nice....viva calexico!!!

  • Wow!

  • Is that Gyorgy Ligeti at 2:53?

  • Yeah, you must have missed the annotation. From left: György Ligeti, Yoko Nancarrow, Jürgen Hocker, Lukas Ligeti, Gieselher Smekal and of course Conlon Nancarrow

  • sounds like chick corea on acid!

  • Couldn't have said it better myself

  • Ive never hear Phrygian played like this, visions of spain?

  • This is very good. I'd never heard this one before. Very fine!
