hi! i have made a tribute to Deep Purple playing "Smoke on the Water" on keyboards, i invite you all to take a look at the video, comments are more than welcome, best regards!
i can count so many few guitarists that would create a riff song that anyone can learn how to play in about 5 seconds and still make this riff so epic... thank you mr. blackmore
@frankiev1231 the other guy is named tommy bolin...He's now deceased. He was a great guitar player. He was joe walsh's replacement in the james gang..
One of the only two Deep Purple songs I like. Don't like this version though. Thank Satan band members don't dance like that anymore. The 70's were a funny time, I wish I was old enough to enjoy just how fucked up everyone was. We need to bring back quaaludes.
@kieranlarking667 It's a Deep Purple Mark II song played rough and too fast....cringe worthy, I also co run a record label, but that's beside the point...the point is this is not the way it was originally done and sounds worse for it...FACT!
One of the greatest riffs in rock by one of the best bands of all time, pure class! It would be awesome if you checked out our version if youg et a spare sex, any feedback would be awesome :)
I saw them in 74 and 75,76? But it was MKIII and MKIV, both were awesome,no one rocked like Purple. But this lineup with Hughes and Bolin, they FN rocked the place. Wild on stage. Great. Remember it like yesterday. Paid $7. and $7.50 for 2nd concert! God what a great time man. DP was a wild ass band on stage, they played one hell of a show.
Not Deep Purple without Blackmore & Gillan. Blackmore is one of the best there ever was...and Ian had a special sounding voice & feel that is unmistakable. David C. has a smoother, more polished voice. (like Robert Plant) ..but he's not the classic DP sound. Listen to "The Book of Taliesyn" (if you can find a copy) and you'll hear the group in it's raw beginings.

Sorry, this is NOT, i repeat, better than Blackmore and Gillian. Actually, this sucks. Sounds like a cover band. Coverdale sucks here. The backround vocals are awful.
Favorite version of this band. Hands down. Tommy Bolin is masterful on this song. Coverdale puts alot more energy into the song than Ian Gillan ever did.
No, No, No! (And NOT the song lol.) They just can't do it like Gillan - don't have the voice for it. This sounds sick (sorry). And definitely don't even try to imitate Ian's scream. Sounds pathetic here. So glad DP finally "saw the light" and got Gillan back - at least for the second time lol.
I saw these guys live in 75,and it was wild. People can say this or that, etc, but this line up was one crazy and wild fucking show onstage. They were awesome! Ive been to 100's concerts, but these guys kicked everyones ass out the door. It was one big party. Great great time, and it cost me $7.25 for the ticket! And that was Floor!

I was stoned outa my gord, and I loved it.Deep P was the most asskickin band there ever was live in concert.
hmmm well I think guys that the bands today (not all) but some can play really well. BUT on the other side no bands nowadays come even close to this epic stuf like this. Deep Purple knew how to give REALLY good concerts. They know there stuff.
Very cool guitar playing by Tommy Bolin. The LongBeach, CA gig was much better though . The interaction between Bolin and Paice on this song is TOPS. Great take and energy. You can see the crowd really getting into it.
Jon Lord is doubling all of Blackmores intro and all of the guitar parts. Thats why Bolin has his back to the audience at the beginning. No offense to Bolin , but he wasnt half the guitarist that Blackmore was. Im 50---and grew up with Purple, I thought they shouldve quit when blackmore left.
but i hate that people always say this is the easiest song to play the riff is easy but is there a better guitar riff ? and how many people can improvise a solo like blackmore ? everyone should have respect for this riff ! :)

Sorry guys this isnt quality purple. Personaly i find this very sad Musically and spiritualy as Tommy dies after this OD on drugs. Tommy is out of his nut on Morphine and can only play major chords, so they changed the tuning of his guitar. After this gig John and Ian decide the bands over and this band is over.
So basically, to have superior taste in music is to have listened to the same thing all your friends did - typical baby boomer logic. Love your Bieber / rap / Gaga / whatever, kids. And when you're a grandparent, hopefully you won't be telling new kids to blow their brains out.
@ezekialwheel that's why coverdale was recently voted by music journalists + iommi and others to be the fourth greatest vocalist ever in rock.. ozzy was not even top 10. and I tell you why, ozzy is a great singer but he can basically only sing in one way all the time. DP original singer was not the one who sang on machine head, educate yourself!! And regarding BS sucking without ozzy, ever heard of DIO ? GILLAN ? HUGHES (Who is in this video) and so on.. BS had many great vocalists. BS is imommi
Fav version of the band!! I like the differences that the band has brought to the world over the years. Come Taste the Band will always be a classic DeeP Purple sound.
One of the absolutely worst guitar solos ever. You can tell that he thinks he's really nailing it by the way he does that feminine strut stuff but the truth is.... this performance should be used to scare guitar players away from the effects of drugs on their playing. A very low point for Deep Purple. It was a great band when Blackmore was playing.....
@chuckking2 his arm was paralysed.. I dont know why so called "DP fans" doesnt seem to know this. They really should educate themselves.. There are lots of good live versions with Bolin, lots of bad versions as well.
But the "live in miami" (here on youtube) and extended versions (here on youtube) shows how good Bolin could be when he had an "on" night.. Dont judge his playing by his worst concert ever
(On those concerts I mentioned DC didnt sing as great but thats a whole different matter;D)
Without Gillian and Richie a very nice performance.

So basically, to have superior taste in music is to have listened to the same thing all your friends did - typical baby boomer logic. Love your Bieber / rap / Gaga / whatever, kids. And when you're a grandparent, hopefully you won't be telling new kids to blow their brains out.

@ezekialwheel well, an enormous amount of people would disagree with you..
leppardsnake 8 months ago
@ezekialwheel that's why coverdale was recently voted by music journalists + iommi and others to be the fourth greatest vocalist ever in rock.. ozzy was not even top 10. and I tell you why, ozzy is a great singer but he can basically only sing in one way all the time. DP original singer was not the one who sang on machine head, educate yourself!! And regarding BS sucking without ozzy, ever heard of DIO ? GILLAN ? HUGHES (Who is in this video) and so on.. BS had many great vocalists. BS is imommi

Great version of a "Classic".........

Fav version of the band!! I like the differences that the band has brought to the world over the years. Come Taste the Band will always be a classic DeeP Purple sound.

This crappy deep purple lineup should be banned from public viewing. No Blackmore, no DP, end of story

БОЛИН ДЕБИЛ! BLACKMORE THE BEST!
felixsarahov 9 months ago
One of the absolutely worst guitar solos ever. You can tell that he thinks he's really nailing it by the way he does that feminine strut stuff but the truth is.... this performance should be used to scare guitar players away from the effects of drugs on their playing. A very low point for Deep Purple. It was a great band when Blackmore was playing.....
chuckking2 9 months ago
@chuckking2 his arm was paralysed.. I dont know why so called "DP fans" doesnt seem to know this. They really should educate themselves.. There are lots of good live versions with Bolin, lots of bad versions as well.
But the "live in miami" (here on youtube) and extended versions (here on youtube) shows how good Bolin could be when he had an "on" night.. Dont judge his playing by his worst concert ever
(On those concerts I mentioned DC didnt sing as great but thats a whole different matter;D)
leppardsnake 8 months ago
@leppardsnake I was who uploaded the extended versions and half of the songs came from this concert, the another half is from Long Beach 76.
