  • Anyone who says "maybe It Was Written" doesn't understand hip hop. That's one of the best hip hop albums of all-time.

  • nas has always been on a higher lyrical level than anyone. hes the best lyricist hip-hop ever heard.

  • I like this version better

  • does anyone know what song he sampled on this?

  • can you send me a download link? I want dis song on my ipod mad badly

  • @Ptiz1 download freecorder 4.. wait for the song to load..right click save as mp3 and thats that

  • its crazy that some his new songs have millions of views but this has 20,000... just proves that people dont dig or respect real shit and ppl judge rappers careers based on a few songs. shit is sad lol

  • yo put a download link for your version mad better than ron isley

  • @Ptiz1 yo this is ill too but don't talk shit on the Isley Bros...Ron was perfect for this

  • @shayannesmama i know the other version good too

  • nas is a queens diplomat

  • thank god he put one out without ron isley ruining the track

  • niceeee

  • This is the best version of the track. The instrumental hook is so soothing

  • damn i remember this joint, brings me back to my queens days..he puts the game in perspective

  • The pitch really needs to be dropped a bit here. Nas's voice sounds too high along with the sample.

  • @exkimo64 the track was redone

  • I sooo need this mp3.. please!

  • this is the better version

  • TOO REEL

  • SIXJULY BEAT CBROADY....

  • this shit make me cry

  • Nas is probably the most diverse rapper ever to live in my opinion and the deepest too maybe even more deeper than Pac

  • @JustBlaze234 i disagree, two diffent people with two diffent views of life

  • @glamsquaddiva i understand it just that i live in the projects of baltimore and life here is something you cant imagine.... nigga aint happy here and i can relate with this.

  • OFF THE NAS 2000 MIX TAPE

  • @jabari27 He was well in his 20's by the time he recorded both, I don't think being a 'little younger' matters vocal wise.

  • Is this track sped up in any way?

  • @TheEazyDuzIt95 Yup, sad the beat sounds better this way too. lol

  • WISH THIS WAS PUT OUT INSTEAD

  • One of the best story tellers in hiphop period

  • ILL.

  • shit hittin 1999

  • This joint is beauty , listen to how those poetic stories dance on that beat

  • one of his illest joints this version shouldve been on the album but i guess because of sample clearances, damn lawyers

  • huuuunh!

  • dope

  • God wheres music like this nowdays?

  • u need to listen to the essence...google Ellis and Legin presents The Essence. its music like this.

  • i dig this young sounding nas its like he is a little kid sitting on the firescape and just taking in whats all around him

  • Nah End of 98, early 99. this shit iz beyond crazy even changed the beat

  • One of his greatest songs in my opinion

  • true poet.

  • nah man Nas has 3 or 4 classics

  • @escobar60099 What you think are his classics I say Illmatic God's Son It Was Written Streets Disciple Hip Hop Is Dead Stillmatic The Lost Tapes and I Am. . . in no order those are my classics The Untitled album was solid but not classic and Distant Relatives was coo Nastradamus was bad i only liked maybe 3 songsl

  • @Cdls628

illmatic, lost tapes and stillmatic are all eaisly classics IMO and maybe it was written

    ]

  • @escobar60099 Those are awesome God's Son sorta takes me back to the 90s and whats IMO? But you named the good classics

  • @escobar60099 wordd salviout just on nas dick

  • hmmm I thought his last album was decent and hip hop is dead was a great album in my opinion

  • U dont know bout hip hop blud , The N was dappa it clearly went over your head , and hip hop is dead was SERIOUS i robbed that shit , then went back to the store and brought that shit just because because of the quality and i felt like i was conning my boy of a sale , get me !! Go listen to AZ

  • @xsalvioutlawx Nas is ABOVE all the hippop shit nowadays... his pockets are fat and he soulsearches, plus damian marley man is a really great artist with deep message. Nas+Pac best ever done it.

  • @xsalvioutlawx Ok first off Nas' album with damian marley was sick as fuck, all of the songs had substance and good meaning to them and all of the prophet from the album went to schools in Africa. I bought the album at the local Best Buy just to support the cause, if you think hes going downhill because he made an album that was one of the most unselfish, meaningful, and deep albums of all time, you obviously don't give a shit about people or real hip hop.

  • incredible better than the cd version.

  • if you don't count AZ on one of the best lyrisist ever then you don't lnow what you#re talking about

  • Yea this is way better than the released album version..... The flow, the energy, the beat, everything........ SONY fucked up what could have been two classics with IAM and Nastradamus... FUCK SONY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Wow, this shit's good at making me feel down.

  • i used to smoke to this and just zone out

  • dont talk like a fukin idiot fam duz that sound like nas voice is 9 years old!!!!! DOPE

  • dis was wen nas was nine years old

  • If he did rhyme when he was nine. I wouldnt be surprised if he was nicer than most of these emcees today.

  • thats what i said if you read it correctly

  • nas make us the listener to picture everything he rappin about not even pac could do dat for me nas is truly one of the greats

  • wat da real name for this version an where can i get dis download??????

  • 'impatient ones try putting them angels in bamboo'

who else could it but Nas to describe angel dust in such a way

  • man aint that the truth! nobody could come up with a line like that....thats what i want to hear from rappers today....i want them to come up with clever rhymes like that....but their too damn lazy....alot of them only care about money and dumb nursery rhymes

  • you could find a different version on Nastradamus.... you should probably go buy that album.

  • this version is fire.....

  • Nas and Pac are both the greatest in different aspects, but both are my #1, and should be everyone's. Nas is just too nice poetically, creatively and his style laid back is great. Pac had the most powerful words and was obviously the most influential with his emotion and passion, but he was also a really good poet. Nas was slightly a better lyricist I'd say, and just overall a more creative writer, Pac obviously had better presence and emotion. They are both the best ever.

  • Agree with everything you said.. apart from Nas is the only number 1 in my book.

  • yeah man

  • I always liked this version better.

  • nas is the best

  • too many pac riders, man people at my school be sayin pac better den NaS,but NaS better den pac, thumb me up if im right thumb me down if im wrong

  • in terms of skill i would say nas is better. nas got crazy lyrics. but in terms of music i would give it to pac. pac just had a way of expressing himself. no other rapper expressed there music better than pac did.

  • ya man i still put pac first because of his emotion...Pac wasnt aimin to be a lyricist so that goes to Nas...but in terms of getting messages through to the Average joe, pac always got that.

  • *CLASSSIC* miss tha old nas

  • dis dude nas is unbelievable truely one of the best ever

  • Rah. I've been saying for a minute that Nas is the best rapper alive, but DAMN!!! This is unbelievable. The piano, no corny-ass hook, no hook at all, perfect flow, perfect rhymes...just perfect. Fuck it, he's the best there ever was, and ever will be! Just perfect.

  • Couldn't have said it better myself.

  • Not the album just the song project window compared to the original version.

  • Ill track. If y'all like underground hip hop, click my page. I got my whole mixtape plus new tracks posted. New mixtape Nov 08, free download. 1

  • i always preferred this over the album version...this has 2 be one of the best piano beats ever. no disrespect 2 ron isley, but this song needs no hook.

  • in a way i agree....i hurrd dis months b4 da album vers came out....dis piano iz crazy....but i do need sum mr big in my life wen i hurr it....bu ti do feel u dawgy how da originoo iz uzually da bess.....song iz ill 360

  • I still think that was a terrible decision to do the album over it would have been a classic the album version is garbage. I swear it's out of nas and ghostface bulletproof wallets who had problems with sample clearance were both robbed of classic albums they should re release them along with the I am album the lost tapes was better than what made albums.

  • i kno nas still got it but he jus lettin these lil niga eat man he had his fun all ready........ but u sumtime he cum bac n play wit it!!!

  • Thanks for posting this beat...I used to have this bootleg back in '99...but my version had this beat but Ronald Isley still sang the chorus! Hands down..."Greatest Bootlegged Album Ever"!!!

  • Damn Nas REALLY had another Illmatic under his belt the whole damn time. If he had dropped this CD the way it was meant to be, Jigga would have had NO material to go at Nas with. But then we would have had no Nas vs Jay battle, no Ether and no Stillmatic. Ahhhhhh, Fate is very devious it seems.

  • Brilliant.

  • Nas is the best to ever do this!...in this song proves it...dont get me wrong I luv Jay, Pac , Big but..Nas can do what they do but they can really take it there like Nas with songs like this

  • I actually like the beat on this more than the one that made to Nastradamus, cuz it as nostalgic feel to it. Although this one is missing a part of his 3rd verse. Dope stuff..
