@DanielleBri82 Not a downgrade at all. The plan for the car was to run a big shot of nitrous. Combined with the all motor power, the choice of great race converters out there, the strength of the TH400 hard parts it's a no brainer. Didn't want to have to be rebuilding a 4l60e every year and a 4l80e is big bucks. The new setup with the procharger will still be a th400 with a gearvendors OD so all I am losing is a lockup converter over the 60e (and a little higher OD ratio).

@Stuurm I have. And it's not very streetable, makes the car sound like a clunker at idle, and likely hurts the car's ability to pass a smog check if need be. If it's just a track car, okay, but how much time could you spend at a track?

Like I said, the car needed tuning, split BLM's from a TB issue, never got dyno tuned just a mail order, had some optispark troubles. It always would have had a liopey idle with the cam but when the quirks were worked out it would idle fine on it's own, pull plenty of vacuum and have no drivability problems other than the big converter. Bottom line is, you want to go that fast with a car that heavy without the money of forced induction and a big cam is what it takes.

You show me a 4400 pound car that does 11's without some streetability problems and i'll be quick to point out it's way out of my price range (not that I care for expensive cars anyway lol). The new setup I am working on is tamer for the street. Still have a choppy idle but that really doesn't bother me. With the procharger this time, a GV overdrive unit and smaller stall im hoping to push the full weight yacht with heated seats into the tens and drive it wherever I want with comfort.

Where I Iive your lucky to find a muscle car that hasn't been ruined by a lift kit to fit on a ugly set of wheels that wouldn't fit under most trucks...not to mention the only sound you can hear coming from the car is the bass coming from the system...perhaps to cover the sound of a worn out lt1 that has probably never seen an oil change.

@devman224224 Never really paid much attention to that LOL The car is down to the frame, doing some chassis work for a bigger tire/stiffening and building a more all around setup around the same 396 with 9.1 C/R now, AI heads and a D1SC procharger. The Th400 will have a gearvendors overdrive on it and i'll run no more than a 3300ish stall/3.73 gears. HOPING i'll see in the 13/19 city/hwy range with a light foot. With an overdrive, low stall and fuel injection hwy is never too bad.

it was 236/245 duration, just under .600 lift and 112 LSA. New blower cam is a secret ;-) AI custom grind but the specs are REAL close to the cam I had in it before for all motor.

just under .600 lift, 23x/24x duration 112LSA. Hyd cam, worked well with the lloyd elliot heads and was a great cam for the street with a very usable power band. Pull past 6500. In the new setup I am running Advanced Induction 200cc heads with a slightly bigger cam....and a procharger.

Guys, lots of things affect sound. The chop is from the big cam but idle was a little more choppy than it could have been in the vid. I had split BLM's, had to tweek the throttle body a bit and needed more tuning. High compression, big power ect... gives a car more sound obviously. Just don't go putting the biggest cam you can find in your car because it sounds good. If you dont have the head flow and compression to match it you'll have one wicked sounding SLOW pos lol. cam was around

I heard that car has been a 3 year nightmare for the owner, all of his lousy paychecks made from working on other peoples cars goes to getting that thing running, it got sideswiped in the street while pulling the motor to diagnose a problem and it's been sitting as a bare frame in the driveway ever since...

rumor also has it, the new plan involves a cam with a lot less overlap....
