hey i am new to salmon/steelhead fishing and i recently purchased a 6 weight fly rod and am hoping to get out on the Nooksack soon. are there any flies you recommend i try using for either steelhead and/or trout in the Nooksack?
@WAfisherman2323 To get you started, pick up an assortment of egg sucking leeches/woolly buggers in a couple different sizes and colors. That should do the trick for you.
@spivafishing an 8 weight is a good all around rod if you plan on targeting salmon and steelhead. However, you can go as low as a 6 weight for humpies and you'll be fine.
@eZciPONE I believe the fly I was using is called a "humpy hooker", however I strongly believe that the fly isn't nearly as important as the presentation. The other guy in the video was using something else, but not sure what. Anything pink, white, flashy and heavily weighted should do the trick for you. Just have to get it down on the bottom and twitching - as you can see by the slack line drift and mending going on in the video.

what part of Skagit is this?

@Theyrun It was on the lower river below Mt. Vernon. Actually pretty close to the salt so the fish we were catching were fresh and super bright.

Can you tell me what fly you are using? I want to try my hand at fly fishing for pinks in the upper Snohomish River.
