The Shah wasn't half bad at killing himself. Actually, the Islamic Republic does help out the poorest people of Iran better than the Shah did -- but the Shah made some really rich while largely ignoring the poor but offered more freedom for those who could afford it. Really, neither political system is exactly ideal and both have a history of harshly cracking down on any kind of protest. Your talking as if everyone wanted and still wants the Shah is silly.
