  • Nice engine, but your needlessly revving the shit out of it. 3600 rpm is max engine speed.

  • u didn't use asembly lube, or atleast oil.

  • i used oil watch first vid. i show that i am using it

  • You never installed new piston rings.Your engine must of had good compression. This engine has a life span of about 500 hours.Less if used in a snow blower.

  • ya only reason why i didn't put new rings in was because i could get any for that motor. tecumseh changed that model number over the years which made it hard to get parts

  • how did you get that muffler on

  • you dont want a steel key cause the wont shere like the aluminum ones an there tear your flyweel an crank up instead

  • I have got that same type of engine I think im going to start working some more on it today!

  • that's my kind of leaf blower.

  • Hey. I also have an old tecumseh like yours. Is it possible to get a picture of the governor and caeb linkage. Thanks Joe

  • same here

  • the reason you probly sheared the key is because you probly didnt get the flywheel bolted on tight enough! its happen to me a few times

  • ya thats exactly how it happened.

    thanks for your comment

  • yeah no problem! and nice job on the rebuild :)

  • how did you get that muffler on your engine

  • What's the song at the beginning called?

  • Fallen Angle by Poison

  • Thanks! Hey, great work. Most people think Tecumseh's suck, but they're very much like Briggs. Therefore, they can be very high quality. And just what kind of leaf blower takes such a big engine?

  • a kick ass homemade leaf blower takes a big engine! ;) thats nothing i just put a 5 horse briggs on it last month now it blows! lol

  • COOL! That's my kind of leaf blower. Where'd ya get the briggs? I'm a big fan of briggs myself; take a look at some of my vids. Great work, man!

  • i got the briggs off a friend of mine and i put in close to 120 bucks into the get it going

in the end it was worth it.

  • way to much rpm's on stationair

  • Last winter one chain broke on my snowthrower and get stuck between the impeller and the casing, the motor stop in a fraction of second.A technician said it's a chance the key didn't broke because most of the time the friction of the rotation between the flywheel on the crankshaft weld them together.

  • 2 stroke or 4?

  • its a 4

  • well rotoray lawnmowers have soft aluminom keys because if the blade hits a stump or anything to suddenly stop it then the wieght of the spinning flywheel can breack your connecting rod but if the key is soft the it shears and the flywheel keeps spinning while the engine has stopped. It doesnt really matter for your engine though because your not going to use in on a lawnmower.

  • ya exactly but as you said its not for a lawn mower its for my leaf blower

and another thing have a soft aluminum key designed to break to prevent damage to the engine is kind of pointless when the flywheel it self is just used as a impeller for the cooling system and the blade acts as the fly wheel in this case

but either way what ever any one says about the key and that it won't make me but a new one when i can just make one ;)

    thanks for your concirn!

  • how did you shear the key???? you cant use a steel key u can seriously damage your engine.

  • how i sheared the key fly wheel came loose or i forgot to tighten it ether way i usually doubly and triple everything.

and why can't i use a steel key the old one was steel. and how can the seriously damage my engine its on the out side the keeps the fly wheel from turning

  • Great Videos !!!!

    Very Detailed !!!!

I talk to alot of small engine mechanics and they tell me a motor doesn't get broken in until it runs with a load on the output shaft.

You should run that motor on that fan ASAP.

    Or get a minibike.

  • ya i did put it on the fan i was just existed for the first start if you know what i mean

i had it in pieces for a good 3 weeks looking for parts and as hard as it was i found nothing but the head gasket

runs well though with a ton of compression

  • Sounds good. Many people don't bother messing with these little Tecumseh motors and just throw them away. It's nice to see someone do a good overhaul on one once in a while rather than junk it. Good job!!

-OH!- Just a thought: I do not recommend using Royal Purple oil for the first few fills on a freshly-rebuilt engine. The stuff is great for broken-in engines, but it is also so slippery that, if used right way, it prevents the rings from seating correctly...

  • really i didn't know that thanks for telling me

i actully re relapped the valves the other day POS lapping tools at school suck so i bought my own!

    thanks for the comment

  • Nice, you did a great re-build.

  • thank for the comment, i like working on old lawnmowers and getting them running.

sometimes i sell them for money

either way all the neighbors come to me with lawn mowers that don't run

  • why did you get rid of the exhaust???

  • its actully a very tragic story i was revving the blower once no biggy like any other day but the welds over time were weak so with such a big pipe and such a crappy weld i ripped off

was kind of mad but i thought hey theres always some thing else to put a nice exhaust on

in a year or so im going to buy a pick up and put some cherry bombs on!!

    thanks for the comment
