how important would you say ass level is? one of my main issues is when i get tired my ass rises to about in line with my head, and i'm told to keep it low at all times. however i noticed that some of the players in this video aren't doing this. how important would you say it is?
You could be 6'8" 345. with a 500 lb bench and 700 lb squat. but technique wins everytime. I was only 6'2" 270. and because of good technique and fundamentals, i didnt allow a sack in 4 yrs. and averaged 9 sacks a season. Dont lose track of what really matters.
Age 18 height 6'0 bench 425 squat 535 deadlift 630 lbs varsity 4 yrs but missed the last 4 games due to of sophmore school transfer issues offensive lineman right tackle weight 350 lbs and my 40 is 5.4 seconds
Young bucks, when you get to the collegiate level, a good program won't necessarily ask for max on bench. They may want to know about your squat max. And after that, the only time bench press may matter is when you have to rep 225.
Focus on footwork, technique, and controlled explosion from your stance. NUmbers don't make you a better player, effort does.
im 15, 6'1 160lbs, the smallest center you will ever see :P i love the big guys that say techniques are useless, without them i would never be able to hold my own in the trenches against 250lb kids
im almost 4 minutes into watching and im learning some good points to improve my stance but i would just like to mention something important....when checking to see if the lineman is correct in a stance its also important to see if there is too much weight on his down hand....if he's leaning too much the defensive line will use the momentum against him. its also hard to cover all of things in short time but first step for our offensive line is to shoot hands along with our 6inch power step.
@PassRusher74 dude even in a three point stance with his stance "butt up" makes your eyes down, head down your weight balance more on your hand...in other words your in a stance for a quick dive in the dirt....and the whole "on the tip of your toes" thing make it worse....flat feet= better balance and power...theres a lot to it but i have played offense and defensive line for 9 years....three of them varsity...
@USFsh0ji obviously doesn't play football very well, and arn't a player in florida cuz in florida even division 2 players know thats bull shit stance that your saying...
@burk867 not really but you have a point that he needs speed... normally the guard is a tad bit lighter with the feet because of the pulling...but it could apply both ways for guard and tackle.
I'm 5'11 210 i'm a really good right tackle i would like to play line backer but i need to work on my speed what do you guys think ?should i try out for linebacker? i usually just play nose guard but i want a challenge
You should just work more on your agility like do some short corner back drills helps alot, also do some acceleration drills so you can drive into the pocket! You should go for it your a pretty average size for a linebacker!
