  • Does the photovoltaic cell ever deplete? Does this process continue indefinitely?

  • Well done: this is one of best explanations for how solar energy generates electricity. (however I wish that the resolution and audio was clearer.)

  • well parallel plate cap.

  • this is the principle of a capacitor

  • There are a number of inaccuracies in this description ... for example the statement that all mobile electrons are generated in the depletion region, or the visual description showing the holes are immobile and the the electron travels to the one left behind. Also the majority of the resistance is not in the depletion region ... the majority of resistance is caused by impurities throughout the whole wafer ... also a conceptual inaccuracy ... electrons loose energy in recombination, not travel.

  • Waaaaait. Why does the electron goes through the negative side if there is an excess amount of electrons there? Shouldn't it go to the positive side since there are more holes there?

  • @sandslash123 this is due to the electric field that the p-n junction is creating in the center. That is why, the only way for the electrons to fill the holes is through a circuit. This circuit leads the electrons to the holes in the positive layer.

  • amazing ..

  • I was on this show! I sat on those vectors! (The big arrows.)

  • Great video. Thanks.

  • And*

  • I love how this had blown up after physics today. Oh a mr. Watson u dome good kid u done good.

  • OMG MY TEACHER WAS A SCIENCE HIPPY!

Judging by his hair alone... I conclude that he knew alot about lysergic acid diethylamide and t.etrahydrocannabinol.

  • Love you Mr. Watson!!!!! You were such a trend setter!!!

  • MR WATSON!!!

  • Watson...

    Nice!

  • WHAT THE HECK... IS THAT MR WATSON?! I KNOW HIM

  • Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha. That's one luxurious mane, Mr. Watson!

  • I love the hair cuts everyone has here, just sayin'

  • hippy science teacher . lol

  • la la la laaaaa la la laaaa

    i dont like this video.

    it reminds me of science.

im only watching it cuz my science teacher is forcing me

he says it will be on the final exaaaaaaaaaam

  • thanks for sharing!!

  • amazing. haha they made it really simple haha.

only one thing, how old is the video? haha I was wondering because of all the really long hair

  • This video defines the photoelectric effect so well!!!

pretty sure my whole essay is done just from watcing this!!
