I love my iMac and I've never had a MacBook pro but my brother and friend have the. And they seem to like them but if ur on the go for school or whatever and u need it for class I would get the laptop but if ur just going to use it at home I absolutely suggest the iMac. Ho

The G5 only took so long because it had leopard installed which is designed more for intel-based macs. Tiger is a more stable and suited OS and it would have therefore dramatically decreased boot time.

@NintendoChumm It depends what you want to use it for. If you just want to use it for just internet and word processing usage, then just regular macbook. If you want to use it for gaming and media such as imovie and photoshop and garageband, then I would have to say macbook pro (15" or 17" are the best out of all three macbook pro models)

Your iMac G5 is running Pretty slow even my PowerMac G5 would beet that and this has a 1.8 GHz processor and 2 HDs 1 250 GB and 1 600 GB which is broken so is used for storage rather than boot-up and has the iPhone SDK Installed along with iLife, iWork and a load of other **** that I use such as Master Collection CS4! You need to sell your iMac G5 and iBook (Once fixed) unless of course you still use them but I only use my PowerMac because i'm planning on buying a Macbook Pro/Macbook or Mac Mini

I'm using the iMac 24" 4GB Ram, 2.66 Dual core... To be honest, it's Brilliant. It does everything You need it to do... In comparison to my old Windows based computer that needed 2m things just to work Properly, I don't know how people can say iMac It's over prised. Yes it was £1.200, but thats nothing when you think PC needs, All the power things, the antivirus, This, that and then it Fucks up and you need a new one 2 months later. iMac is so much better, I recommend getting one to anyone :)

Yes you can just save the 4GB of Ram that it came with and if anything happens they will ask you for those ram sticks again so keep them. You can do the same with the other parts of a Mac system just make sure to KEEP THEM somewhere in good conditions

Get the new White MacBook, it's like the best laptop that you could ever use, once you see how awesome it is.... where though, the 21 inch iMac is still a home theater but not as wide.... Now the 27 inch actually is a home theater. Still though, get the MacBook over the 13 inch MacBook Pro, because it's just as good, in looks and specs, and it's... well it's got like the same specs...

any clean pc after defrag will beat the dumbo kiddy mac to the ground in terms of speed.

mine takes 10 second to boot, 3 sec waking up from hibertation and 0.5 sec from sleep.

I have a MacBook Pro with 3.06 GHz and 4 GB of RAM. (Check out my channel if you want to see it.) The 3.06 is blazing fast, and I don't need the 8 GB of RAM. 4 GB is plenty for me to do what I need. So if you will be running lot's of applications at one time, get 8 GB. If not, just get the upgraded processor.

Nice Job! Really made me see the diffrence.

I own an iMac G5 20" first gen (1.8) and a Black last gen MacBook, and the iMac beats the MacBook, but i replaced the hard drive with a higher RPM.Also what really makes the diffrence is MS office '08, once i installed it, my computers took 15 more seconds to start up.
