If you took out the Duel of Fates, this scene would be so empty. Oddly enough, it took your a capella to appreciate that, while this scene lacks the emotional resonance of say, the fight between obi wan and darth vader in a new hope, it does have a really good atmosphere- mostly because of their being no dialogue for over a minute and the epic music.

If Maul can take both jedi at once why can't he fuck Obi up? I mean he was kicking them... why didn't he just kill them? When Vader got a chance he took Obi out. Bad writing in my opinion. I wish I could block Episodes 1-3 out of my memory.

Challenge: Take down one guy with a sword.

Option 1: Get the two dozen palace guards with guns to shoot him dead immediately at short range (using the Jedi defensively where necessary).

Option 2: Get all the palace guards with guns to run away, so the guy with a sword has to be fought by the only two people in the entire group that don't have long-range weapons, ensuing an arduous 15-minute battle that ends with one of them being killed.

I think they made the most logical choice.
