  • hay no que fuerte! :(

  • It's beautiful! Amazing work!! But it's so sad...

but i still can't get things done

  • reminds me of machinarium

  • Educational. Don't spoil your employers. Say NO TO OT W/O PAY.

  • Excelent work but too sad

  • Its not a sad story, but a TRUE sad story. F*ck Donald Tsang who've made the poverty in HK!

  • good animation and good voice acting...

  • What's the name of the song at the end credits? It's so emotional!

  • made in hong kong

  • Aww :( I couldn't help but shed a manly tear.

  • find rest from Jesus!

  • Love the Animation from Hong Kong! Sad story though.

  • this is truth and its our society´s day a day, its all about the money, more material things that are really senseless in our human quest ,we have a life to live not to work, not to get more money, not to be good with our bosses not to stick with this system and this corrupted capitalism that only blocks our heads.. we need to find our happiness, a happy life its what we are all looking for

are you really happy? if not..why you don´t change it? because of your job?

  • I love the piano music...sounds something out of an anime and the mood is totally right

  • @zandztone

  • @youbadcrazyman

  • @youbadcrazyman

  • @zandztone Even you have much money, there are very little natural environment in Hong Kong, it has a lot of forest made with concrete!

  • @zandztone

  • @zandztone you definitely know nothing of creation.

  • @zandztone

  • WHAT A LIFE IN HK!

  • I wonder why hk government doesn't give support to the poor with low salary. I don't we have to set law like minimium wage, but subsidy provision is needed. I don't know why the citizens who do not work and search job receive transfer payment from govnment and enjoy tea time every day. it is shamful. Lazy people do not work, becoming the most fortunate. Hail hk government.

Some times ago, I was afraid to hear the ring tone.

  • omg O-o when the screen was spinning with words and symbols the only1 that i understood was death

  • I haz a sad =[

  • That's so sad , but she tried her best to keep up with all that

  • In Hong Kong, many poor people need to work hard to survive. They earn tiny wages. Their costs of living are expensive too, which they dont have enough money to spend other things, even take 2 jobs a day.

Hong Kong has a right wing politic, so many poor HongKongese don't get the chance to have normal life.

  • Come back flower TOT

  • i think this animation is really good. It perfectly describes how pointless our lives really are, full of meaningless tasks... and just when you think youre about done more crops up... even when you are falling off the building you will get ordered back to stuff. Its true that we make our lives as hard as they are by ourselves but there are many outside modifiers.

  • lol that looks more like america

  • The story is amazing...

But, If I was her, instead of killing myself, I'll push that ruthless boss first, heh...she/he is not even worth of alive by making her do too much (I guess she even not paid well by that terrible boss, she's working like slave to that boss)

I just thinking that it is better for her to open her own business rather than work to that ruthless boss. (But I know it's easier to said than done, in the world in this video or in real life )

  • OMG. Why does that boss even alive! I am so mad at him/her..no...IT!

  • why is this not 5 stars?

  • Let me kill that boss....

    *sigh* so sad *cry*

  • I can see that she haven't try to escape from the door on the ground floor

  • so cute and so sad....

  • Absolutely one of the finest works of art I've yet seen on the web.

  • nice, it's almost as real :)

  • The short storyline overall is sad, especially the ending where her misery never cease. Overall it's an excellent animation.

  • total respect

  • Oh, do shut up !

  • I agree that the animation is the weak part of the movie. What I really like are the colours and the city.

  • Wow.

    What an overanalytical jackass.

  • I don't see any problem with being critical. If something's foibles aren't discussed, and simply accepted, there is no incentive to improve.

If you believe that this is a flawless work of art, then explain why it is in the same detail that I have explained why it isn't.

  • Well, I mean the video was made five freaking years ago. The debate on whether it's good or not died down a long time ago.

It portrays a cultural issue in China, and is somewhat educational as well as a creative means of artistic expression. Going out of your way to post an overanalytical youtube comment, which will only be read by no more than 20 member in its existence, just seems like a way to inflate your own ego to the point that you convince yourself that your opinion really matters here.

  • I spoke nothing of its concept, but will agree that it was somewhat creative. My ought with this piece is that it doesn't fully realize that concept through its shoddy execution.

If this is an effort to inflate my own ego (to, as you've described, around 20 people) and is, essentially, useless, then why bother contesting me? So that our opinion can exist as useless adjacently?

  • As for me taking the time to criticize you on your criticizing

I'm just an asshole youtube troller.

  • So sad :[ We Chinese people work too hard sometimes.

  • .........TnT

  • just awesome, i really loved it

  • this is so cold.

  • This video makes me depressed

i feel liek cutting and im not even emo D:

  • :'-( soo sad....

  • Amazing voice acting!

  • I love this video. Watching it and understanding Cantonese this video is awesome. When I get tired of everyday office work I watch this video...

    From Colorado

  • A slave's life ...

  • If you think about it. Slavery like in the 1800s required slaves to do labor but not worry about paying for a house and food. Now we must do labor and pay for our home and food. Who was better off?

  • But slaves in the 1500s-1800s don t have any freedom, they just have rubbish food and broken bed.Nowadays ,even you is a slave, you still have lots of right.,e.g. speech

  • Both are just bad.

  • I believe that's real life in Japan!!! :o

That bird looks like Pikachu!!! :p

After all the boss wasn't that bad - he saved her life!!! xD

  • this is production from HONG KONG and we are prooud of it

NOT all animations are from Japan

  • Amusingly enough, all the subtitles written in this film are in both English and Chinese, rather than Japanese. But yet, because it's animation, all animation MUST come from Japan. *sigh* -_-'

  • This film is a production from Hong Kong

  • The boss only saved her life because he wanted her to continue to do her job, it's out of no concern for her as a person, just as a worker robot of sorts. Sadly, a lot of bosses in real life are similar :S

  • @mangosalado Not all animations are from Japan= =

It is from Hong Kong, a poor city, I think..

  • I have had days like that!!!!

  • i all most cried

  • excellent animation and a story based on the dulldrums of living in a world of the same routine day after day.

  • This is so cool! hey thanks for uploading this video. I&TBPSQUOm going to subscribe!

  • aww so sad. i got all EMO when her flower died =[

  • Great presentation but wish the story is a lil interesting .

Thought of Rhapsody add when the girl jumps for the bubble ? Anybody ?

  • bubble is try to tell wt her dream is to us =]

    is not really bubble there

  • This is how the oriental society works.

  • deep video..5/5

i was moved when she jumped off but what happened next broke my heart..her boss wouldn't even give her the pleasure of dieing...

  • That is some of the best animation I have ever seen. The story made a big impression on me.

  • SAD!!!! :(

  • this is really good and it made me appreciate my life a bit more.

  • haha yeah it is Chinese, still it reminds me of some people in Japan.

  • anger

  • Presure to the body and to the soul is sometimes huge !

As those ballons , flower , bird ... those were the ways she liked and that kept her sane ... now the flower is ded , bird in a cage , ballon falling down ....

People would do anything to give them selfs just a second of a peace , quiet , even if that means to do something extreme ( killing yourself is just one option , but theres always something worse than hurting yourself ...).

"My world may not be real , but it's better than yours!"

  • How sad! Poor that girl... I hate her boss. And how poor, even when she jump down the buiding, she can't run away from her job.

  • The word '吳' on her laptop and the poster, is the surname of her.

The girl is speaking Cantonese, language found in Hong Kong.

A very sad story, but good story, good music, good voice. Hope the boss here can think more...

Many lower class in Hong Kong are living poorly.

  • i love HK too, it is a sad video..........

  • I thought her jumping off the building was sad, but what happened after was far more heartbreaking.

  • how sad! this is really good. very very sad

  • genius.

  • It was a very emotional video

    5/5 stars

  • Thank you!

  • This video has been selected by our channel as one of the best Animation and Most "Deep" videos in YouTube. Thanks for sharing.

    Regards,

    bestofYTchannel

  • Amazing... the melancholy, the soundtrack, the animation, the way the voices were portrayed, the story... the sadness, the feeling of being lost in a endless road with no way out. 5 Stars and favourited. An authentic goosebump maker. Also, it somehow reminded me of Robot Carnival O.o

Also somehow reminded me of a game, with the missions or quests. Anyway, excelent!!

  • this is so sad

  • I live in HK, it's very sad to see that the city finally becomes such a sad place for its citizen. Only the privileged class are allowed to vote for their ideal leader as well as 50% of the seat in HK's parliament. The working hour becomes longer and longer. The wage is lower than the 1997 level yet the privileged class can enjoy all the GDP growth.

  • that was amazing

  • Amazing animation and story, VERY well done! Thanks for posting this, 5-stars for this and I am making it a favorite!

  • the beautiful piano music and the general melancholy of this film strongly reminds me of the "Cloud" segment of Robot Carnival. check it out if you havent... its a bit old, and in an unfamiliar anthology format, but Robot Carnival is damn good anime.

PS: if chinese language anime is always this good, consider me converted!! :)

  • schmidtwangtainan-----> my chinese are not that good...but r usaying something bout the milk??? your no. 2 saying that Allah aberdeen something something farm and another something???? wut the f-word wrong with u mate???

  • well guys sorry to say but that's life...but i dont think life is that sad...maybe i'm saying like this bcos i didn't experienced it...well maybe but you can say something like that...well i also believe that sometime media

exagerrate things a little from the truth.....c'mon mate life not always that bad....it's just my opinion dont take it seriously..anyway it's a nice story tho

  • It isn't that much of an exaggeration. My Chinese partner's father had three jobs simultaniously, and still had to steal to afford to pay the bills. Her Mother only had time to get 4 hours of sleep for six years solid. Everyday. Some people just seem to work themselves to death.

  • like it

  • this is very evoking and holds deep meaning. its sad how even as civilization has progressed, the human will hasn't. i feel sorry for her since she hardly has choice, she's not even allowed to commit suicide... and shes forced to work continuously :( dont get me wrong though, you shouldnt commit suicide :P

  • I love this!! it's so very interesting!

  • living in the San Francisco Bay Area, I can relate all to well to this video The hectic pace of our daily lives leaves a lot of good undiscovered Thank you!

  • brilliant, beautiful, incredibly well done...a sad, poignant but true statement of an aspect of our "civiliz" - ation

  • I feel sorry for her, her boss is so messed up.

  • beautiful

  • thats so sad...

ive been to hong kong every year and i think its much livelier than that...

but i cant believe i understood her talking cantonese!

  • This is such a touching story. The piano piece was excellent too! I watched this video like 4 times just to hear the piano piece in the middle!

  • wow such a great story. i would kill that boss if i were her.

  • Interesting. If this is placed in Japan, why are the captions Chinese? (I would know; I am learning Chinese.)

  • it Hong kong,it's crowded over there it's kinda similar to japan.but japan has it's quiet places.I don't think Hong Kong has any i think it's just a city.

  • Hong Kong has it's quiet places.

  • sorrys! i thought it was like a island city i've only been to the airport in HK, the plane always stop there before going to china. it's a busy and small place so didn't know sorrys.

  • That's life in Japan pretty much :(

  • That's not supposed to be Japan.

  • my bad for anyone who takes my comment the wrong way. i waz replying to a piece of shit comment but it just added another comment by mistake

  • wow i feel sorry for her at 9:18 T-T

  • that chair at 3:00ish doesnt look ergonomic!

  • The style of the animation is interesting, but I don't like the story, Especially while the main character jump off the building. The POV of this is too self-orientated, very typical HK people's thought. The animation is just too far exaggerated to the reality and HK is not what you think.

  • so sad

  • local style.

  • so sad yet true how we lose things we like for things we have to do, realizing their importance only after they are gone...

other jumping from the building is like HR health policy: they want to see you alive because they want to see you work :)

  • the flower would have died faster if she put milk on it...LOL.

  • Sad, sad commentary on modern life. As the economy continues its downward spiral, many people in the US will have to get used to this same kind of life, or end up homeless and hungry. So many lay offs mean that those who are 'lucky' enough NOT to be laid off will be doing not only their work, but also of a dozen or more who WERE laid off. Probably at reduced wages as well. It is getting VERY scary here, always waiting for the 'other shoe to drop'. And, it will get LOTS worse before (IF) better.

  • so sad

  • This shows the tireless effort of a normal day in the HK working class life. I reflects on how we should actually spend the day instead of being so exhausted and busy all day. However, parts of this is still here in HK. The people work too long and get tired.

Too much is going on in HK, we should slow dow our paces and relax once in a while.

  • Great Animation, purely made by creative & logical reflection on HK. Motivated me and inspired me to express my views on those issues. Thx so much for making this video. I hope it gets a great place in the Youtube film screening competition.

  • I was like her but now I quited my job and running pizza shop =)

that's the way of living in big cities and why the hell people migrating from rural cities to big metropolitan cities I still dont understand that.

  • Heartless boss!

    Poor supergirl!

  • sweet...but sad...=[

  • Beautiful film, thanks a lot, to share this, Is the reality now in the cities. the only thing that remains is just to think if we really want to continue like this...

  • Work Is not Your living - it's ur earning to live.

    It's Not everything in life

We shouldn't depend everything on just work or one person.

Cities are usually extreme bcuz in HK, many parents and people have to work long periods. There are still many families which earn very little & need lots of help bcuz they can't help themselves.

Families should be together more often than work, therefore the city environment would bring more Joy to HK.

The Work in This animation shows no hope in life :(

  • There are almost no more 9 to 5 in Hong Kong now. The working hours are very long. It's no good for the health of the staffs & the harmony of their families. & children has no adults to take care of. They only depands on the domestic helpers or grandparents. Some young people just fooling around outside with friends. It will become a burden to the society. Our Government should do something for it.

  • Great comment, it really reflects the burden of the city which has been ruled by greed. Its not too late but we realli should persuade good reasons to stop these issues.

ACT NOW. don't procrastinate pls. hehe ^^

Moving On, I want to express what i think about the climate in HK. REALLI HOT & BAD, still Winter & ITS HOT.

DO WE NEED SO MANY LIGHTS IN THE MORNING OR AT NIGHT????!

DO WE NEED SO MANY AIRCONS WHEN WE HAVE WINDOWS?

DO WE NEED SO MANY CARS WHEN WE HAVE BUSSES??

    O thx for concerns

  • Hi Jonathan,

    Thank you!

I agree with what you said & had discussed with our noble councilors. But I found it's no use. They only spend their time on some things they think it's worthwhile.

That's why so many moms quit their jobs to look after their children. It's a loss to our society.

About the lights, I think you will agree with me that some places (e.g. Causeway Bay) are brighter than the daytime even all shops are closed after midnight. :(

  • interesting animation.. sad but at times very true for living in a metropolitan city. -w-

  • kinda sad and funny when they say, "where the hell have you been?" "jumping off a building" "well hurry up and get back to work!"

    not very nice

5 stars this video was amazing. did you draw all this?
