seemar49, you are so right.! Although my first moped was a Honda SS50, I also had an FS1E, and a Fantic Chopper, before graduating to a string of 2 stroke twins, including a GT125, GT250 (M), YDS7, and an X7, also a Kh250 triple. You're right, the rush of power associated with these machines is incomparable. My ZZR1100 that I have now is obviously so much faster and more civilized, but nothing like as much fun!
them Garelli Tiger cross`s r the dogs bolox! If you ever see one Reg No OWA4R, it was mine when was16-17, Id give someone elses right bolok for it now!!
Had the Garelli Tiger, only bikes that could come close to matching the speed were good fizzies, Garelli Records, Suzuki AP 50....The Honda SS 50 was a Joke, a real slug of a machine (speed wise)
I uswed to ride my FS1-e over huge deposits of earth and gravel that had been put along a disused train line Nr Preston - but just made it THE place to go with you bikes !
Never remenber getting the wheels off the ground though !!
I have a question for all you moped gurus. I actually own one of them. It was built in February 1975. Has the pedals just like the video above. It's a Yamaha and the side plates show SS. I am trying to determine the exact model. I am confused as to whether it is a FS1E or is it really a SS? I could not find anything on the frame that would help... Any help greatly appreciated. My dad says it's the original panels on the side but he's not 100% sure. Is it possible to have a 1975 Yamaha moped SS?
Happy days indeeed. I am just restoring my 1975 P reg Tiger Cross that I bought for £150 in the 1977 having peeled onions (!!) for 6 weeks at a veg factory in Norfolk. It sat in my nans garage and then under my mums covered way for 28 years. Bloody thing never started and if you bumped it and it caught you would struggle to hang onto it and twice I wheelied it and once ended up in a ditch in front of the girl I was trying to impress. My mate who's Suz AP50 started first time got her first time!

My 1st bike was a Tigercross 50, bought from a kid at school for 18 UK pounds. I had my 1st ever brush with the law as I pushed it home...

Honda ss50 was and still is THE best four stroke 50cc motorbike.
I am 19 now and I still enjoy the performance of my father's 1969 ss50. It still can reach 90km/h!
Greetings from Greece
