  • Magnificent! Of course, Peggy is my all time favorite, fabulous, understated!

  • Man - can you just imagine what the rehearsals must have been like. This age is seriously missing talent like this. Such a pity for us.

  • Women. Voices. Gowns. Class!

  • @and2rew All of what's missing from today's artist. Not to originality in rendering.

  • Wait a minute... In history, Peggy Lee, Sarah Vaughn, and RiRi, and Roberta Flack?

    Together?

    Are you kidding me?

    get the fu@k outta here!

this hurts, in a good way

  • wONDERFUL...

  • Magnificent! I especially love seeing Peggy & Sarah together - they were close friends and you can see their affection and mutual respect in the way they interact.

  • SERIOUSLY, FABULOUS!

  • how sweet beautiful ladies with beautiful voices :)

  • Thank you very much !

  • This is why YouTube was invented.

  • Wow. What a collection of talent ,of soul, of....I lack the vocabulary.

  • @Ladyrants your voice is heard

  • wOw, amazing x

  • Bless you for finding this GEM!

  • Great vocalists all, great music, great sense of style ... LOVE it!

  • damn, that's pretty incredible. Each distinctive but working together. Unseen today.

  • WOW!! So much talent on one stage, Absolutely Awesome!!

  • I love all these women! Really love aretha and sarah!

  • Powerful!

A more recent gettogether of three similarly talented women here:

    watch?v=9yWOVrwe1Zw

  • thank you for posting!! Love them all, what great voices and wonderfull ladies/singers

    !!!!

  • Peggy Lee looks high.

  • This is fantastic!!!!! No blown out egos there...just wonderful singers doing their thing together! Wow!!

  • one of them is trip four on the floor amazing

  • O

    M

    G

  • My poor heart is sentimental not made of wood, umm yeah yeah, i go,ga ga got baaad that aint good. Go Sass

  • This is pure HEAVEN!!! WOW!

  • What a great clip! Aretha looks so pretty!

  • I just had mutiple likes :)

  • ooooooowwww. I am wounded by PURE talent...

  • This was truly fabulous. The arrangement sounds a lot like one that was done by the Pointer Sisters. Can anyone tell me about the arrangement?

  • I love this so much.... I can't help but go back to Roberta Flack at 3:08... I love to hear her sing that section!!!

  • it would've been monumental if Ella'd been up there with them,

  • Heaven!

  • Its impossible to pick a fave cause they are all so different in style but the same on credibility. I love Aretha on one and and Peggy on the other. So freakin' awesome! Thank you for posting this.

  • my god! What a line up! Amazing. And so respectful of each other - no upstaging or diva nonsense form any of them - true musicians....

  • @bobbiemars "My god! What a line up! Amazing. And so respectful of each other - no upstaging or diva nonsense form any of them - true musicians...." Yep...it's called total R-E-S-P-E-C-T! Because remember, it wasn't THEIR show and it wasn't about THEM. They were there to pay homage, rememberance, reverance and respect to the MASTER SHOWMAN who was there, in the trenches, paving a long, hard road for them LONG before any of them cut their first record. Imagine if Aguillera were up there...

  • Real music

  • This is amazing! I could imagine beyonce, Jennifer hudson, fantasia and adele performing together

  • @funay fuck that..they can't even compare to these titans..

  • @funay ahahah...funny, very funny

  • @funay It wouldn't work because of the history of over-singing from one or two of those names you mentioned. This generation lacks understatement and taste when it come to singing standards, although Adele shows that she understands restraint, and that's in part to being a student of Etta James and knowing where to leave space, and how to use silence. It requires sensitivity and respect for the lyric and melody.

  • WOW, WHAT A FIND -- AMAZING!!

  • why cant we have talent like this today , my god this is incredible , true talent

  • wow i love sarah

  • what a great groove, you can feel feel the music aura emanating from these divas of soul, thanks for posting this...Hazelknutz

  • wow wow wow.....

  • It's fantastic. Great artists. Very mityc and soul.

  • When talent and class combine you have PERFECTION. Thanks so much for posting this. They are all individually incredible and together.....WOW. So nice to see real talent for a change.

  • Good. Lord.

  • oh my goodness! I would have melted !

  • Oh my God! This is like Picasso, Renoir, Rembrandt, and Monet all took turns painting on a single canvas. Sublime. Wonderful.

  • Goddesses all!

  • This is singing!!! Amazing!!!

  • Three people are fans of Autotune.

  • Great Video sound. Great performers and artists.

  • I enjoyed this recording. Thank you somebody for posting. I am praying Aretha Franklin is doing well and will be with us for a long time coming.

  • I enjoyed this recording. Thank you somebody for posting. I am praying Aretha Franklin is doing well and will be with us for a long time coming.

  • UN FUCKIN BELIEVEABLE!!!

  • Sarah's so cute!!!! <3<3,3<3 her

  • That's unbelievable. Great singers sound great while complementing each other's performance. That much talent and no ego in sight. How times change.

  • Every single one of them is musical royalty--yet they know the power of singing softly together in harmony, and the utter magic that can create. How rare, indeed!

  • Fantastic footage! Oh what I would give to have been there!! Thanks eternally for posting these beautiful sisters. NB somewhere in the World there are 3 lunatics who expended their energy to hit the dislike button. Please be aware.

  • @elvispreseli Don't bother about those 3 ! Must be the 3 last members of the KuKluxClan hahahahahahahahahha

  • A once in a generation performance!!

  • This can't be! OMG...I'm dying.....

  • in the beginning aretha looks like mother earth with that light around her and that afro :)

  • This is an all-star team of lady vocalists. Great stuff.

  • They don't make 'em like this anymore. All classy gals.

  • THIS IS THE BEST. GAVE ME CHILLS TO SEE THESE FOUR WONDERFUL WOMEN SING IN SUCH HARMONY WITH THEIR INDIVIDUAL TALENTS. THANKS FOR FINDING SUCH A RARE VIDEO CLASSIC. KEITH

  • Oh Lord! This can't be true... Thank you my friend puglet7!

  • Wow! I love it!

  • Does anyone know about the Pointer Sister arrangement of this? It's on "High Steppin" . They covered this exact medly.

  • I bet you couldn't get any of the female singers of today together to do this,it'll be one big ego show!

  • @tdwh419 haha true

  • Comment removed

  • @tdwh419 so true, plus very few singers out today has this kinda god given talent to speak of.

  • sarah comes out like a bull bucking. i love it

  • I like that they didn't try to out sing each other.

  • I new that this peformance was not from the Grammys, but I assumed it was from the Kennedy Center Honors. Thanks for pointing out that it actually was from a Duke Ellington special.

  • I have such goosebumps... amazing.

  • this is AWSOME !!!

  • GREAT VIDEO POST !!! THANK YOU !!!

  • Priceless!

  • Back when people used to wear clothes! They look so elegant and like they've actually made an effort.

  • @sweetbutdaring

Nothing wrong with not wearing any clothes. It gets hot sometimes.

  • wow the stage was exploding with talent that night! we'll never see this again. thanks for the upload

  • Wait. You mean the Grammy's used to be about good music ? Musicians and artists that had incredible talent ? Wow. I thought it was all about what ever looked good on TV, whatever glitter-covered starlet that looked good in the media and was battling anorexia and a drug problem. Goodness, this is an eye-opener. ;-)

  • Wow Gareth, 152,000 hits. I gotta start crooning... Kidding aside great, great post. Blimey, some talent up there !!!

  • @Toracube Hi Andy!! Good to know you're still watching ! Thanks for your comment . Gareth.

  • OK I AM TOO OLD FOR THIS MUCH STIMULATION. GREAT!. FANASTIC! LUSH! ONE OF KIND & UNFORTUNATELY NEVER AGAIN.

  • Thank you from Italy.....and from my heart of course

  • WOW!

Can't say more - but WOW WOW WOW WOW

Thanks so much for posting this.

  • EPIC!!!

  • Thank you for posting this video I can die now. LoL

  • wow!! 4 wonderful singers together???

  • Are you kiddin me? All this super talents.. ALL toghether? WOOHOOAHH!

  • Isn't this the exact same medley that the pointer sisters recorded on their 2nd album?

  • Bekommt man heute noch solche Sängerinnen zusammen? Gibt es die denn noch. Der pure Wahn.

  • It's been said that after this performance, Roberta Flack was so upset that she wanted to jump out of the window. Apperently she felt Sarah's burning glare for coming in too early on Rock's in my Bed! LOVE THESE GIRLS!

  • This gives me GOOSEBUMBS all over... Thanks so much for this ;)

  • Amazing. Such an unlikely combination, but wow.

  • Simply the best! Thanks so much for posting this excellent captive moment of time.

  • i love this...thank you for posting this... what a talented group of women...i love this big band style of music...that is what is missing in todays music.. the band allows the artists to feel the music...it just melts together so perfect.....like butter

  • Talk about singing.....mind boggling.....thank you for posting

  • Greatest female vocalist! Very, very cool!!! Miss Peggy Lee, Sarah Vaughn, Roberta Flack and Aretha....Need I say more???

  • Aretha is so jazzy with it, I love her voice. It's full of straight up Soul.

  • this is epic!

  • Sone of the greatest singers of all time on stage. Peggy Lee, one of jazz's queens. Sarah Vaughan, truly the divine one, Roberta Flack, the musical maestra, and Aretha, The Queen of Soul. This stage was just full of musical and vocal talent it was ridiculous.

  • thanks so much for posting....and ummm i find i am compiled to note that aretha was a horrible dresser even when slim

  • @squeaky00 And you're horrible at grammar and spelling. The word is "compelled"!!

  • @lewistevena i can tell you are fun and loving person, lets be best friends forever!!

i am so sorry i did not spell the word " compelled" correctly. please for give me. i will try to do better in the future.. bff .....hugs!

  • Same story here - but it's rocks in my head!

  • one word: genius

  • 4 of 2day's R&B artists who could remake this performance - Jill Scott, Eryka Badu, Jennifer Hudson & (?)...

  • @bjswilley I agree with Jill and Erykah. I love Jhud but I think her voice would be too big. I think Chrissette Michelle and Ledisi could round this off.

  • @bjswilley Fergie? For some reason Peggy Lee resembles her to me in this clip. She (Fergie) also has a soulfulness to her voice. If not her, maybe Joss Stone from UK.

  • Now this is singing! No pyrotechnics- just pure talent and soul!

  • Now this is singing. Holy crap!

  • yeow.....all i can say

  • Can anyone think of four women outside of this gathering of great talents who could provide us with such a performance today? Even Mariah and Whitney (in her prime) would have trouble matching up with anyone else to recreate this performance.

  • oh how i wish i'd been there!.. wow. the stuff that legends are made of. those were the days...

  • OMG

    :)____________________________

  • Seriously?!?!?! This is crazy!!! Wow!!! This literally gives me chills.

  • only ONE WHITE WOMAN allowed. (and they picked the right one)

  • Look at where Sarah has her microphone! She could BLOW, mo matter how high you turn them up you have to project. Her, Ella, Billie, Carmen came from instrumental eras and developed under the radar! 50's Rock & Roll was not loud but 60's singers learned to 'work the mic' and used monitors. The great jazz ladies set the standards VERY HIGH! Roberta knows DYNAMICS from schooling and mics got better in the 70s and so did home electronics. The problem? Ears are corrupted by recordings!- fc

  • Chix. We rule.

  • UHHHH!! How incredible was that???

  • All I can say is, "WOW!!"

  • LOVED IT!!!!

  • Aretha has alot and i mean alot to owe to these infuences of music, women from arethas area, tina, pattie ectt. are no longer hence why i enjoy clips like this really make me understand music and i'm 25. artists today hell of alot to answer for today .xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  • JUST WOW!!!!

  • This is how it should be done! Today's "divas" take note: this is how you become legendary! You stand and deliver a song with exceptional vocals. None of them tried to outsing the other. All pros! Thanks for posting this. All true artists, each at the top of their game!

  • this is a REAL Jewel THANK YOU puglet7 for sharing this. Now THERE'S a girl's band!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @lewistevena Actually this was a TV Special in honor of Duke Ellington

  • This is fabulous. I am reliving my childhood (FYI: Sarah Vaughan's last name is "Vaughan," not "Vaughn."

  • Whoops! Thanks for pointing out my spelling mistake! Gareth

  • @puglet7

No problem. It happens to the best of us. I know you didn't mean it. No one with this kind of taste deliberately makes this kind of mistake (smile)!

  • Oh I have enjoyed I can't tell you how much. I appreciate the reply thank you and a happy new year!

  • Pegyy Lee proving once again that she was one of the greatest vocalists of the 20th century.

I like Aretha and Roberta has a sweet voice but I would rather hear one song from Peggy Lee than a hundred from the others.

  • Sassy is so great!

  • You'll never see a lineup like this in your lifetime again.

  • What a joy to watch all four very talented and great singers. Aretha looked stunning.
