The cut off is a security feature that prevent the engine from revving to its breaking point.

Lets say your engine has its redline at 6000 RPM, your cut off is going to be around 6300 RPM.

Normally you dont hear that because most drivers are born with a brain and they dont let their engine rev passed the redline.

they sound almost alike, but the 09 is dual cam and that changes the sound to some extent, i have an 08 es with the 4B11 2.0 and it sounds sick, i bought an N1 but chopped it off because it was pissing me off haha

if only cat back then you wont feel much difference, maybe couple horses if your lucky, the only way to get more power is either hi flow converters or go fully catless like me =) but it wasnt on the lancer

the n1 i have sounds better for some reason. i drive an 03 lancer and its a lot deeper than that. strange.
