I believe I don't explain myself correctly The first pneumatic cars for metro where build in France in 1955 in Mexico arrive on 1969 the MP-73 cars are shorter than the MP-68 for Mexico The cars are a bit short in Paris than in Americas metros the door hide in part of the window in the Paris model and you can see it when it opens, the American cars have a full place for the door and when opens you can not see it in the window another seat is also placed there :)
Yes , i have working at RATP 30 years and i see many transformation on the material, i regret the Sprague 4 green wagon and 1 red wagon for first class, its very goog material, the metro in Mexico is a realisetion in cooperation with RATP.
I am working in station during 13 year on line9 and after in the statistic office for the all line of metro and after in the design office for the RER and the metro lines.
I particularly like those handles that you pull to open the doors - they're sort of unique to the Paris Metro.
Personally I rate the system the best in the world. It's very dense; it has a LOT of stations and 16 lines; it's clean and very well presented; it has a variety of rolling stock, even those 40 years old are still performing well!
It definitely beats London and New York. German ones are nice but I still prefer the Paris Metro.
Oh yes - it's much nicer than the alerts on most trains around the world. Many sound like the high-pitched ear-splitting alarms in shops that detect goods not paid for!
j'aime le Paris metro

I love that spooky speeding up sound of the MP59 stock. Sound more like floating than riding.

why those cars are so small? I mean Mexico Canada and Chile have same type of metro from France but the cars are bigger why the French are so small?

Which sound? The MP89? (the rolling stock on Line 14)

The sound of "alert" when the doors are about to be closed.

does the Paris metro run on rails or rubber tires with concrete tracks?
tgtrains 4 years ago
some lines (like lines 1 and 14) run on tyres while others run on rails.
mrtulala1 4 years ago 2
Lines 1, 4, 6, 11 and 14 run on rubber tyres and the rest are rails.
