Golden Gate Park, San Francisco, California. T&L, Dinosaurs, others? and a bunch of us kids running wild in the park. I don't remember who all played, but I remember this day was a lot of fun...
"Thunder & Lightning" Nick Gravenites was the Thunder & John Cipollina was the Lightning. Then add bassist Doug Kilmer & on drums Greg Elmore (from "Quicksilver") & you got the one hell of a band. Nick still plays "Down In The Bottom" & is playing down the road from my place Aug 13th at Highland Dell Lodge in Monte Rio, California
Does anyone know the date/venue of this one?.. It looks 1986 or so, GG park maybe? or outside Bay area? Great instrumental version of 'Down in the Bottom, and 'Going back to Anna' is just classic Great Stuff!.. what was with the flip to negative in final moments, what was that?
The music just roared as was predictable anytime John and Nick shared the stage.
Far out man!.. I know there's tons more out there somewhere.. If only we had today's tech then.. oh well..
John said in interviews that he didn't feel he was that good a rhythm guitarist. I love his rhythm guitar whenever I can hear it in the mix of a show. Many different ways to spice up a tune.
I wish I had the software to break this video into individual songs. It has such great stuff on it. Good job. I got the DVD from a Cipollina trading group I was in about 6 years ago. Put more on as you can do it.
Correction: Meet me at The Bottom, ahh memory.... nice thing if ya got it... I'll double check my Dead tape on which they cover that, 2 B sure. It's not just my eyes going i'm afraid ; )))
Ahhhh awesome D.! Thank you! Doesn't get much better than this: John, Nick & little Doug, fantastic chemistry! This makes my bad morning good, lol: goin' back to Bxl today, but what do you know: ya got me smiling all over the place! PS: other tune is Down in The Bottom
Hey this is great! The band was really on that day... as they seemed to be most of the time. Always loved the interplay between Cip and Elmore... and it's certainly on display here.
Thanks for sharing... would love to see more clips of this show if anyone has them...
As far as I can see there are 4 of T 'n' L here and 2 Dinosaurs..all recorded on devices that needed a block and tackle to lift on to your shoulders..lol...
Unvic. Thanksagain for the tunes. Vid looks fine to me! For once, John is out front and everyone else is mismixed.

It is funny how we will ruin our eyes to sooth our ears. Thanks Dave, I now need better glasses, but I have a classic video for my playlist.

You might be right, I have a DVD of this. Jesse Colin Young, then the Jefferson Starship were before 'Thunder & Lightning".
