I am so glad we got to see the cheese at the end, I wanted to see that! Your work brings up very mixed feelings in me, I love getting to see these things I am not privy too, yet it also evokes a deep uncomfortable longing as I am so separated from the natural world. I miss living this way. But your work is wonderful. Thank you for sharing these treasures. All life is change and transition and the best we can do is to bear witness to that which we are part.
@MultiVerseUniVerse It is a pleasure to eat too, we buy it each week. We are planning an experiment with the apple cider that turned to vinegar, so maybe we shall have apple flavoured cheese in future.
@ronpolla The next film, in a couple of weeks, will be the unadulterated and universal language of plum brandy, and how to make it! Definitely no translation will be required there!
@andrewnorris2 looking forward to it as long as I can get some of that brandy....and a little cheese if you insist....thank you, Andrew...wonderful film!!
Look at that frothy milk! Bara was adorable singing while milking : ) Fascinating watching the cheese being made, it really only took one day until ready to eat?
@PassionateMistress Absolutely, and we ate Marica's cheese the next day! Bara has become quite a personality. We were picking sweetcorn together at the weekend in her field and singing, much to the amusement of the houses around!
@JamieDean There are some young people who do seem to be taking on the mantle of their parents, and having second jobs too, but there are few children being born and many, like Branko and Antonija, have already left for the city. One can only hope they will return sooner or later.
Ahhh...for your song I'd cross many a mountain...& I'd milk many a cow...for your song I'd be your farmhand...but for your heart this film blows me apart...the chore of udder sends rhythms of reality...pulsating thunder splash of truth into your bucket...
oh andrew. i loved this film. i would like to spend a day in that kitchen looking at the tools alone. so interesting and lovely. thank you for making this.
@heatherlynblue I agree, in the kitchen or in the barns/sheds. They are all filled with such wonderful equipment, much of which is put together by our neighbours themselves. Film 28, to be posted later, shows us all harvesting sweetcorn and potatoes and the gadgets used for these jobs are simply great.
Your videos are always such an island of peace here, Andrew. I feel as if your YT friends here are like neighbors all coming to talk by the pasture fence about the simple things to celebrate in life. It's nice to share. This picture quality is so sharp. Wow. I love hearing Bara intermingle her talk with song as she milks her cow. Nice work.
@HerAeolianHarp Bara has really come into herself of late, which is fortunate since she has a real wealth of stories. She will no doubt be appearing many times more in future.
Mr norris. your videos are fantastic,The old traditions once gone here are on the rise.with new interest in the land ,and animals on the land.it neat to see the cow ties used are the same as we use in our barn.all the best ,walter
@cooper68ns I agree. I believe many people are becoming disillusioned with city life, and all its stress and complications. While village life is certainly harder I think there is a greater degree of satisfaction to be obtained with contact with the earth and elements.
it sounds as if those songs were meant to be heard from the other side of the valley ... perhaps answered too; I suppose at five in the morning (or even later, the people (specially children) had to sing very loud to keep themselves company! Congratulations to those people who breed such beautiful healthy cows.
Thank you Andrew for the script in all your videos; although I enjoy your perfect diction every time , I must say it does help sometimes.
@violetparme You are right. Bara did mentioned to me that others too went to the pastures and that they sang together, and across the valley. I wish I could have seen that!
@MidiPunk If you think that was easy, to make cheese from 3 simple ingredients, just wait until I publish the film of making plum brandy from just one ingredient..... plums!
This is perhaps the best milking scene in hd I can find on youtube. Thanks

I can only imagine the taste of milk and cheese made from a hand-milked cow. It must be a treat. A pleasure to watch.

A1. And perfect to see the shot of the cheese being cut with such simple efficiency and tradition at the close.

Andrew , I'm wondering how the young people of the village feel
about keeping these traditions going . Do the couples like
Brako and Antonija have live stock and live the traditional lifestyles as their parents have?
