  • @bunnywailer14 ummm..... whats with the weird bullsh*t covering the comments section? are you conversing with a friend in the comments? if so thats sad. also its kinda getting gross in the comments about "periods" & "childbirth" keep it to yourself please

  • fuck it i tried typing 3 different responses but the device im using is stupid. ill just say you're a dumb bitch who doesn't understand that optional doesn't always mean people choose the latter or unpopular choice

  • Best Sample EVEERRRRRRRR

  • i recommend this book. it was incredible. the movie was amazing but the book was one of the best i've ever read... i couldn't stop reading it.

  • Does anybody know where I can get this soundtrack?

  • @bunnywailer14 From "de Blackheart Man"...oops I was distracted by your account name. I couldn't find it on Amazon or eBay. The DVD is out-of-print so I imagine if a soundtrack ever existed, it was on Cassette.

"He lives, in the gullies of the city!"

  • @mickey13f I'm 28 years old and I understand your view and everything you explained. Tha same thing happens witih our dear eskimokissproject. Tha thing is: I'm really sick, I love homosexual partners and my dream is that Deniz and Roman will be together always, maybe 'cause I feel, in my real life, like a garbage. That's it. Thank you so much. I'm gonna just see the episodes and I'll never write my opinion again. BUT I saw the eskimo didn't understand me. Ok.. Good luck and GOD BLESS.

  • @spanishalrojovivo Really, I'm mad and sad because she has a TERRIBLE attitude with me and if you're her friend, maybe you could say that I AM A ESKIMO'S FAN!! and ... really... this is a discrimination avoid my person. Really, REALLY sad... I don't know what more to say....

  • stupendo film. stupenda Gainsbourg.

  • Periods, childbirth, painful sex, having to put paint on my face as a daily ritual?

I think i'll stick with my gender kthnx

  • @TealDaubs "painful sex"? That reminds me of when a boy in my class at senior school said that he'd rather be a boy because girls can't sleep on their front.

  • @TealDaubs looool painful sex hahahah

  • @TealDaubs periods - can be gotten rid of or dealt with. Childbirth - optional. Painful sex - also optional, and wow, you must be bad in the sack for all of your female partners to say it was painful. Putting paint on our faces (it's not actually paint btw), it's not something every girl does, and it's also optional.

  • @TealDaubs Ball taps, erectile disfunction, swelling prostate, and an overwhelming disability to care about your appearence?

I think I'll stick with my gender, kthx

  • @slowderp

dunno what balltaps are so I'm sure most guys don't have it

    not every guy has ed

my prostate is just fine so I'm sure that's a condition too

I care to look decent within reason (not a slob and not a priss)

why are you girls (and white knights) fighting this? Socially girls have it easier but when it comes to the bodily functions guys have it better. Not only that but guys that aren't idiots are more rational in their thinking than females (we aren't too swayed by emotions)

  • and people think that this is WORSE that these CHILD PAGEANTS where little girls are dressed up like porn stars its somehow ok ?

  • where can I find this movie at is it on netflix maybe

  • @2010boyfranky You can watch it free at: megavideo(dot)com/?v=CMC98N3S

Click the red play button, close the new screen, click the play button (now green) again.

  • why boner? because.jpg

  • Hey guys, I really need your help! I'm trying to find the soundtrack of this movie, but I can't. Can anyone help me? Any ideas where could I buy/download it? Thanks a lot!

  • ppl should read the book its gd :)

  • She's got a nice voice

  • i want to fuck jack....

  • Robert Smith of The Cure wrote a song called "The Hanging Garden" based on this book. Funny because Robert Smith also got me into cross dressing & make-up.

  • There is music playing in the back ground does anyone know what it is. I look up the music score for movie but still can't find it. Can anyone help???????????????????????????

  • a beautiful scene.I loved Gainsbourg in this film..

  • a beautiful scene.I loved Gainsbourg in this film..

  • She really made him think. An excellent coming of age film.

  • This is just mind-fuck in a bottle, seriously, your older sister getting all breathy in your face like that, especially with the subject matter.

I think I'll buy this film.

  • I love that this makes people feel uncomfortable. Still relevant.

  • so true...

  • Quero ver...show

  • I remember Hippies in the 60's looking like girls.

Well ...not really...they didn't use conditioner or hair-dryers then.

  • i wouldnt like to know what its like to be a girl. We already do, guys are more girly than ever and girls are more manly than ever

  • @YerJob

acting like one and being one are two very different things

  • @YerJob still you don't know what it FEELS like to be a girl. You are talking about the social construction of what it means to be feminine or masculine. Women..so much beauty and alot don't even know it. Patriarchal society creates labels what is right and wrong but you have the option: whether to accept things as they are or change it. Think outside the box.

  • @Onegurrrlrev I agree. Funny thing is though is that the guy in this who is feeling uncomfortable with the whole things isn't exactly the most masculine looking of boys......

  • I always wondered where Madonna took that sample from. Now we know. Thanks for uploading.

  • good

  • my twin brother is more like a girl than i am n im a real girl. he's all talk only.

  • This quote is included in the song of Madonna , look the video "What it feels like for a girl" .

I'm in love about Charlotte & Madonna so .....

  • UH, that was very uncomfortable to watch....I LOVE IT!

  • @windrix1 Are you kidding me ? You like to watch a guy wanting to fuck his sister ?I have read the book... What the fuck... Major incest happening in this story. During the entire novel this guy fantasizes about her and his 12 year old sister... Seriously disturbing and weird story.

    Hopefully fiction

  • now, this makes a legend!

  • I Just looooove British Accent, and in the lips of Charlotte it really sounds Amazing!!

  • hmph.

  • This is one of THOSE movies...You've been warned.

  • @Ghostsofthefuture Sadly, one of "those" is not too specific...there are too many "those"

  • Her voice is so soft and sweet, it's almost hypnotic. Charlotte Gainsbourg is beautiful and sexy in a very different, nonconventional way. She's a remarkable actress, she takes on very brave roles, roles that other actresses would be afraid of. She does not flinch. She does not turn away. Gotta love her.

  • "the homonymic book"!

  • @ttimothymurphy hi! thanks for the heads up on the mistranslation. i was actually trying to translate the portuguese word "homônimo", which can either be a word which spells and sounds the same, but has different meanings OR the quality of any thing that has the same name as another. i was just trying to say the book's title is the same of the movie's. i see now that the usage of the word "homonymic" wasn't proper, so what do you suggest? "namesake", "homonymous"? thks in advance.

  • @romulofaco

    hehe.

sorry. I didn't mean to nitpick your excellent english.

It could be correct - it is just a very unusual word.

homonym is not too unusual, but i have never heard "homonymic".

I think "eponymous" is what people would usually say, although it doesn't mean exactly the same thing.

It would just mean the film is named after the book, not that the titles are exactly the same. - an adaption of the eponymous book by ian mcewan (?)

  • @ttimothymurphy thank you very much. =)

  • @romulofaco "Eponymous" would be appropriate in this case.

  • @penguinsloveDW thanks.

  • @romulofaco I think "eponymous" might be what you're looking for?

  • @shortscottiechic thanks! =)

  • @sofiafatalle Except that Madonna took the lines from this movie...

  • @sofiafatalle Not only did Madonna steal the lines from Cement Garden, she didn't even give any proper credit!

  • @laurenticwave actually if you look at the booklet for her album "music" you'll see that under the song "what it feels like for a girl" it says that the song contains an excerpt from "cement garden"

    ADEILTON- BRAZIL

  • Sweet I didn't know it was from this movie, I've been wondering for years where she got it because I like it a lot.

  • @mudvaynechick exactly what I was wondering all these years and finally i found out :)

  • Charlotte is AMAZING! shes so stylish!! she reminds me portishead: no beautiful women but sooooo attractive! nad i strongly recommend to hear her IRM album wth beck.!

  • doesn't anyone remember Madonna anymore, LOL

  • @DJmojocam Yes they do and she had record breaking tour last year to prove it.

  • I'M ITALIAN and i didn't understand all the dialogue untill i found the "citazione" the Girls can wear jeans and cut their hair short, wear shirts and boots, because it's OK to be a boy, but for a boy to look like a girl is degrading, because you think that being a girl is degrading. But secretly you'd love to know what it's like, wouldn't you? What it feels like for a girl?

I'M DEFINITELY GOING TO READ THIS BOOK &/OR watch this film

  • u do?

  • one hell of a family , burry the parents in the basement ,youngest son a crossdresser and the big ones fucking their brains out hahahahahahhahahahahahaahahhaah

    WHAT THE FUCKING FUCK?

  • my platonic love

  • as I read the book, i imagined julie prettier and with long hair... :D

  • Comment removed

  • what's the song playing in the back?

  • is this the movie when a boy fucks ihs sister?

  • yup

  • What was your first clue ;)

  • @dudemandude999 wtf dude?!?!?!?!

  • Thanks for sharing! I am French speaking and I had a hard time getting what she said, the famous quote included in Madonna's song: Girls can wear jeans And cut their hair short Wear shirts and boots Cause it's okay to be a boy But for a boy to look like a girl is degrading Cause you think being a girl is degrading But secretly You'd love to know what it's like Wouldn't you? What it feels like for a girl
  • I knew there was a reason that it was the only Madonna song I liked.

If I wasn't an atheist I would probably think Ian McEwan is God.

  • What? drag queens have a lot of fun

it's fun and entertaining for men to dress up as women

  • yuk

  • He isn't the most masculine looking young man either the one with the long hair!

  • I loved this film, saw it many years ago and its memory has stayed with me ever since. Thanks very much for posting these clips, this is such a beautiful scene.

  • Charlotte gainsbourg is damn attractive

  • i don't find her pretty but she's so interesting to watch and listen to, she's extraordinarily attractive.

  • That was a beautiful quote

  • yeah, Ian McEwan is sure one of the best post-novelist writers

  • Her name is Charlotte Gainsbourg. She has released her own music albums. Check out one she recorded called 5.55.

  • Hey isn't this the girl in that Madonna Song? " What it feels like for a girl? From her " Music" CD? Wow it is OMG.

  • Girls can wear jeans

    And cut their hair short

    Wear shirts and boots

cause its ok to be a boy

But for a boy to look like a girl is degrading

cause you think that being a girl is degrading

But secretly youd love to know what its like

    Wouldnt you

What it feels like for a girl

  • i love those words and specialy coming from Charlotte Gainsbourg, she makes it sound so beautiful....and i love the fact that Madonna put that is her song! She is all about equality! and this song proves it!

  • @loquitololo hahaha.... to be a girl is indeed degrading... but ya... you're correct

  • @loquitololo I love the comment. :)

  • @loquitololo Not really because I don't like to fix people food.

  • what's the girls name again?

  • you mean Julie? Or Sue.. or umm Tom xD

  • too bad andrew isn't making movies anymore....

  • sweet

  • most boys dont understrand being a girl is awsome but it comes with its bad things to O_O

its true thought, girls can dress up like guys and not be picked on..but when guys dress up like girls its practicaly a living hell if they do :[

  • lmao

  • not really look at motley crue and poison etc

  • Madonna used this clip in her "Music" Album

The name of the song is What it feels Like for a Girl. The movie is defenitely great. Do you know, what it feels like for a girl.

  • but i wonder if the English are fooled by the accent. Doesn't she overdo it?

  • She does overdo it a tiny bit, but because she talks so slowly it's barely noticable.

  • when I first heard this, it was on the Madonna album. I did not know this movie even existed. Hearing the piece on the album, I had thought it was a French girl. Then I read the credits, saw the title of the film and rented it. Being that the film is British, I thought I was wrong to assume she was French...until I looked her up on IMDB and found out she is, in fact, French. Does a false accent seem more real when placed in context?

  • Her mom is english, her father was a great french singer composer, serge gainsbourg.......

  • What do you mean? That is how she speaks. Her mother was English and her dad was French. She speaks English with an English accent and French with a French accent.

  • He look like he's fascinating by her, in this scene you can see the disturbing attraction he feel for his sister.

I watch this and i see something beautiful and absolutely disgusting at the same time.

The book it self is wonderfully disturbing and repulsive.Anyway ,the movie is brilliant ,but the book is just a masterpiece of British literature.

When you read a book like this ,you can't just go out of it unscathed. You really can't.

  • I think she's absolutely beautiful. She really made me gasp. I like girls with short hair, but she looks exceptional here.

  • wow her voice is mesmerizing

  • I loved Charlotte Gainsborough in Jane Eyre and she was just as good in this film.

If you buy the dvd the trailer is an extra.

The 30+ boyfriend was a real ass, because he only called in the police when he found them together, and acted like a huge baby becaue she woudld not allow him to get as close as he wanted.

  • The point of both the book and the movie is that the two older siblings take on the role of parents for their younger siblings. They try to make a family and because the older siblings are young they cannot yet conceive of taking on a role as mother and father without being sexual with each other. It is a sad story of isolation. A better title might have been The Cement Island.

  • Great movie, great book. But I'm not sure about the point of the book. Does the writer assume that children become sexually depraved if left unsupervised? In Lord of the Flies, the boys became savages when left completely unsupervised. But in this story, it's two brothers and sisters. Perhaps in this case it's sexual depravity, not physical violence, that takes over?

  • Great to see the clip from the movie where the line in the Madonna song comes from.

Hearing it in the song is cool but watching it in this is brilliant,unique..

    Very well acted

  • Yeah, you are right about LotF but maybe the savagery was due to the mob mentality, there is a small group here and the house is not cut off like the microcosm of the island so becoming savages would attract attention easily, and they don't want outside attention. Maybe this pressure leads to the sexual depravity rather than the loss of parents although that will have had a huge effect as well.

  • Good point. I also think now that in LORD OF THE FLIES, it was an all-male community. I wonder how it would've turned out if there were girs as well as boys on the island.

  • I don't know, the majority of children were young on the island, reffered to as the "little 'uns" but even Jack and Ralph are probably no older than 12 or 13, William Golding based the book on the classes he used to teach so this makes sense. There would have been some sexual deviancy along the way though, probably.

  • anyone know where I can find the trailer for this film? One of the best trailers I've ever seen. i saw it years ago and it's been seared in my brain.

  • LOL!!!

  • What????? Ha ha

  • people don't cross dress because they don't like being what gender they are. that's when you are trasgender, that's when you feel you have been born a girl in a boy's body or vice versa. cross dressing has nothing to do with sexual orientation or wanting to be the other gender.

  • beautiful voice

  • oh yeah i agree, here voice is like music.

  • Madonna = GENIUS!!!!! I've never seen this until today, I googled the info on WIFLFAG, then I looked it up on here! It was SO WIERD actually seeing her say these lines to one of my favourite Madonna songs!!! Like I said... MADONNA = GENIUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Ollie ;) xxx

  • Could anyone tell me what the song that one can hear in the background is ?

  • Girls can wear jeans

    And cut their hair short

    Wear shirts and boots

'Cause it's OK to be a boy

But for a boy to look like a girl is degrading

'Cause you think that being a girl is degrading

But secretly you'd love to know what it's like

    Wouldn't you

What it feels like for a girl

  • one of my alltime favorite films!

  • I would so much like to see this film. Charlotte is one of my favourite actors and I have read this book which I can also recommend.

  • I always thought Madonna said those lines herself. Their voices are really alike, I had the idea they put some computer effect on M's voice to get it like this.

I love this scene. And I love Madonna for putting this into her song. It's so strong.

  • Madonna didn't say those lines herself, they took the lines directly from the movie before putting it in the song, so it's actually Charlotte's voice in "What It Feels Like"... I love the song and scene as well, Charlotte's voice is so beautiful...

  • anyone know where i can watch the film? i just finished the book..

  • emule!

  • beautiful movie.. one of my faves

  • mhhh, madonna used a sample of this.

  • Der Zementgarten (the cement garden)

  • what is this movie about?

  • great movie !!!!!

  • The character of Charlotte Gainsbourg is in full control of her emotions and his. He's so nervous about having a ribbon tied around his neck but in the end, she puts his fears at ease.

The power and perceptiveness she exudes in this situation is unnerving to say the least. Thanks for posting it.

  • one of my favorite films.. Charlotte and Andrew Robertson!

  • Quase chorei!

  • Charlotte´s great !

  • Charlotte Gainsbourg <3

  • i wish i had a girl to have sex

  • Que música de fundo é essa?

Who sings the music in this scene?

  • this looks so interesting i really want to watch the movie

does anyone know where i can find/watch it?

  • I am so glad I found this on you tube. It';s a well made great film.

  • sensual and poignant! what an unusually erotic scene. that boy is gorgeous! WOW

  • i wish i was a girl

  • anyone who thought that was madonna's voice in WIFLFAG is deaf. it sounds nothing like her. AND if you had read the liner notes in the booklet for the MUSIC album you'd see that they credit The Cement Garden.

  • I love Charlotte Gainsbourg.

  • e a parte

"cause you think that being a girl is degrading"

  • WHOSE VOICE IS THAT?

  • Charlotte Gainsbourg: When Madonna calls...

Charlotte Gainsbourg reveals in a recent interview with German magazin "Spiegel" that she was unable to talk when MADONNA called to ask her if she could use a few lines from her movie "The Cement Garden" for her song "What it Feels Like for a Girl" .

  • "MADONNA was incredible quick and professional. I was unable to say anything else than 'Hello', 'I'll listen to it' and 'Good-bye'," says Charlotte. "That was incredible stupid. MADONNA was the idol of my youth and I grew up listening to her music".

  • Charlotte performed the spoken introduction (a sample from The Cement Garden) on Madonna's 2001 single "What It Feels Like for a Girl". She says:

"Girls can wear jeans, cut their hair short, wear shirts and boots, 'cause it's okay to be a boy, but for a boy to look like a girl is degrading, because you think that being a girl is degrading, but secretly, you'd love to know what it's like, wouldn't you? What it feels like for a girl."

  • Madonna - What It Feels Like For a Girl

    Girls can wear jeans

    And cut their hair short

    Wear shirts and boots

cause its ok to be a boy

But for a boy to look like a girl is degrading

cause you think that being a girl is degrading

But secretly youd love to know what its like

    Wouldnt you

What it feels like for a girl

  • I think U will find that should be credited to Ian McEwan and not Madonna.

  • oh shit!! i would kiss her then Fuck Her thats just me

  • I want this movie!!!!!!!!!!

  • Actually it IS Charlotte's voice in the song, it's exactly this snippet of the movie.

  • always wanted 2 read the book +perhaps its better than this movie, but the scene's convincingly acted.

  • The book's good, actually. Shocking, but good.

  • i would fuck her

  • God, Gainsbourg is crap in this. McEwan's original Julie was much stronger. Here, G. just seems listless and absent- ruined the film for me.
