  • As much as I love Christy and the Wolfe Tones, I have to give this one to Paddy Reilly.

  • best version is on the spirit of freedom album by christy moore

  • The title is deportee not deportees. These guys totally destroyed a perfectly good lyric.

  • thats only your opinion and i dont agree

  • i dont agree with the 1st comment either for what its worth

  • @eire3232 This is an excellent version.....From Gez in Leeds

  • @fredsmoney There was more than one person being deported and that's why it is named deportees by the wolfe tones. if it was 1 person being deported, than it'd be obviously be named deportees.

  • yes it is!

  • yes its defintley tommy bryne, this is from the late mid 60's, really earlier wolfe tones recordings, if you listen to the earlier albums such as foggy dew,up the rebels and teddy bears head and even Rifles of the ira, u can clearly tell that its Tommy Bryne

  • Thanks cfc07

  • @cfc07 Would they ever sing Up the Border any more?

  • Beautiful Song.

  • It is, but the singer is not Tommy Bryne I'm sure ?

  • Excellent version of a great song!

  • I am suprised that the Wolfe Tones did a version of this. Amazing version of one of woody's greatest songs!

  • It was one of Woody's poems he never put it to music - if you know he did I would like to know about it

  • learned to know this song from a LP Pete Seeger plays Woody guthrie, when i was quiet a little boy.
