  • mine is a 1971 and it says 27hp(DIN). Never mind, i run a 652 in mine now.

  • gnuranttt

  • 2500rpm?! What on earth did you get that number from? *lol*

The Citroën 2-cylinder boxer is capable of very high revs, way beyond 6000, depending on version.

  • piola citruco

  • usually a 2cv engines rev up to abou 2500rmpm that one sounded like 3000rpm

  • The 602cc 33hp version produces its power at 6900rpm.

The choppy sound is because of "only having 2 cylinders"

  • @acharad

What??? The AK2 602cc originally fitted to Mehari had 27hp (DIN) at 5750, the 2CV6 ones with the double choke carb had 29hp (DIN) and the high compression unit had 32 hp (DIN) both at 5750, bhp and SAE ratings are worthless and always will be, as the car has to have alternator and exhaust fitted in order to be legal...

  • @meharidude Prior to 1972 They used SAE J1349 so whitepaper said "33" - Thanks for

    up-do-date DIN INFO

  • @jaggass rubbish, the AM/AK2 usually found in Meharis has max torque at 4000 and max power at 5750..Besides 3000 rpms only equals 45mph/60km/h in 4th gear.

  • how did you get the mehari to rev that high? has it got 2 engines

  • What do yo mean with THAT HIGH?

It was a standard Méhari, but now rebuild tot 4x4, with a VOISIN system, I believe.

    Very beautiful car...
