  • yep no after touch smh

  • how many arps does the MO line have? 4 as the Motif? 2? only 1?

  • Hi,

    Thank you for your video.

How many factory performance presets does this keyboard have?

  • This is what I love about the MO8 and the XS keyboard, you can do "music" by basically doing nothing and without much musical knowledge or practice just some musical sense and taste.

  • @cinqo7 I have this keyboard, and, sorry, but this is what I hate about this keyboard...or any music today where you need no talent.

  • Can you record these performance mode into internal sequence along with arpeggio, I could not figure it out, please help, thanks

  • eso es un desperdisio de piano como puedes tocar asi?

para eso no nesesito un sintetizador ke desperdiso de piano enserio!

  • Does YAMAHA MO6 Includes the same sounds, or there is any difference on those keyboards?

  • I will buy a keyboard : korg m50 vs yamaha Mo6. I want it for compuose music (chill out , lounge ambient),How powerful is the feature in M06 for doing music?? in your point of view what dislike you about m08?? thankyou..

  • how can you play piano and strings at the same time ? can you???

  • @MrSizcodizco - in performance mode you can combine up to four voices, so yes you can play piano and strings together; in this video I am playing the performance presets but you can edit those presets to change the four voices if you wish - Iain

  • @ijr2 Is there any way that you can use more than four voices at a time, or is four the limit?

  • @rotor9494 you only have 4 voices in performance mode, for recording you can use up to 16

  • @ijr2 How do you edit those patches in Performance mode without keeping all of the effects that come with the preset sound?

  • 80s or modern I still love the sound of this synthesizer :)

  • Really nice chord progression with the guitar in the beginning. Sounds great.

  • i have the motif 8 i think the mo8 is the same really just a lot cheaper not sure why yamaha did that? But still love the motif and my ex5 thanks danny

  • man im still trying to figure out all the stuff on my MO8

  • Great Demo, but this is a synthesizer, why dont people who do Demos, give us the weired and wonderful sonds, we'd exspect. Same with the Juno, all you get is the grandpiano, which for me, is rubbish compaired to this. Yopu have done a great job with this Demo, I'm not intending to pull anyone down, all the Demos, iv'e seen on here, with this synth, are good, But I want to know what the pads ect are like too. but other than that, You did a great job, well done. LOL .

  • nice

  • Good Job Bro.

I need last musics name? Pls say me.

  • cuanto cuesta, en donde lo puedo conseguir para que me lo envien.

  • Sounds good!! Is the Yamaha MO8 the same as Motif 8?

  • I think the MO8 is a budget version but it has a lot of the motif sounds.

  • MO8 and Motif 8 are both discontinued models.

The MO is a cut down version of the ES, which is in turn a cut down version of the XS. All three have improvements on the previous version, better arps, effects and mega voices, etc.

  • Thanks for the info - much appreciated!

  • You're welcome :) My MO8 arrived today :P

  • Wrong, MO8 is not discontinued. MO8 is still for sale at Guitar Center, musicians friend, and anywhere else pretty much

  • The MO8 is not discontinued. Its still being manufactured by Yamaha. Basically what happen was this

    Yamaha Motif 8 made

Yamaha Motif ES8 made (Newer Version of the Classic 8)

Yamaha MO8 (Budget version of the ES8)

Yamaha Motif XS8 made (Newer Version of the ES)

The Motif 8, ES8, and XS8 all have the ability to sample. However the MO8 does not. If I were to compare the MO8 to a similar product though, it would be the Classic 8, just without sampling capabilities. Hope this helps!

  • Motif also has a built in sampler (Mo8 doesn't)

  • Great helpful comments. Thanks very much. Just have to decide what to get now.:-)

  • @fred11111112 No, the Motif 8 has the same sound generator as the MO8, but a lot of functions that the MO8 lacks (a sampler, vocoder, colour display etc.)

  • would you prefer Yamaha MO8 for A roland RD 700?

  • Can't help there, the MO8 is the only keyboard I have played.

  • MO08 is an Workstation, RD 700 Stage Piano men

  • I actually have the Rd 700sx. Best piano I ever owned. The MO8 is not a stage piano, but a synth workstation. It is very nice too. your rig should have both of them. I use the Rd 700 for pianos, the VK-7 and Leslie for organ, the D50 D20 and Yamaha S08 for synth sounds. They all do different things, so you really need more than just one board. If you can use two amps to run them all in stereo, they will all sound better too. Hope that helps !

  • :-D goood!! yamaha is credible.

  • What's the difference between initial touch and aftertouch? I know the MO8 doesn't have aftertouch so I was wondering if its a big difference without it...

  • I think after-touch allows you to increase the volume of a note while the key is held down, by increasing the pressure on the key. I am used to playing acoustic pianos which have no aftertouch so I didn't notice anything lacking.

  • So I assume initial touch allows you to increase/decrease the volume of a note only when you initially press a key(?).

Anyways, thank you irj2. You really explained it clearly.

  • after touch can be anything.... it's a "controler" .... it can be an effect, modulation, pitch or something other... it's like a knob or a slider..... it work with the pressure you give to the key(s) after you press it

  • you guys are mislead..

    initial touch-

the harder you strike a key the louder the sound will be

    after touch-

the harder you strike a key the longer the note will be sustained for when you hold the key down

  • @NickScala on any keyboards I have ever owned (and there a ton of them) after touch was a way to control the brightness, or add vibrato depending on how hard you pressed the keyboard after intially triggering the key and leaving your finder on the note. The sustain was always controlled by how long i kept the note depressed or used a sustain pedal.

  • Do you find the pitch bend and mod wheels far away and difficult to reach? Looks like they would be.

  • They are further than on the MO6 but I can reach them OK.

  • expecting you to produce complete song fm. this YMo8. cheers!!

  • The other videos are complete songs ... this one is just me playing around. Regards, Iain
