@deathByStupid I think they don't care about that. If you earn just about enough to get by, losing some percentage of your income due to devaluation is a big deal. If you make hundreds of billions, you just make a few billions less. It is like a parking ticket to them. If you barely have enough money to buy food, a parking ticket would kill you. Corporations are not evil. They just want to be effective and laws have to be shaped in a way that they don't abuse capitalism and kill the free market.

Capitalism is wrong when it's linked to the government, because at that point it isn't capitalism, it is essentially fascism.
This goes for private prisons in place of public, mercenaries in place of soldiers, and insurance mandates in place of medicare.
We need the same separation of corporate and public that we have for church and state. It seems we need a constitutional amendment like the first amendment, for corporations.

I just think Cenkt comes off as incoherent talking about the deal with S&P. So, S&P wanted tax increases... But are trying to get the republicans to do a bargain with tax cuts? It just sounded like he got mixed up talking about what they relly wanted. Besides, Swedish newspapers says that S&P wanted the $4 billion spending cut, and that's why they lowered the rating.

When dealing with a negative bill that is yet to pass, he offers the possibility not to allow it to pass.

On the male breast cancer story, they (once again) completely missed the bigger story. Why does EACH cancer treatment cost $10,000? If the hospital and big Pharma is charging that much, Medicaid shouldn't pay for it anyway, male or female. If Medicaid doesn't pay, then the hospitals have charity programs. Hospitals and big Pharma should either make the treatment more affordable or have to eat the cost of such an expensive treatment.

Obama will continue to "fight" for the extension of middle class tax cuts, including payroll taxes, and, in the "spirit of compromise," the super-rich will get their big tax breaks too. Meanwhile the super-committee will come up with more spending cuts, more jobs will be lost as a result, and the country will go even further into debt. And the Recession will all be Obama's fault. Who for 2012?

@brucenator yeap, Obama will be fighting for extension of unemployment benefits for couple of month,Republicants will be demanding more tax cut for corporations and the rich, privatization of public schools, privatization of water, air, and everything thats public. Bc everyone knows if u privitise everything only then will the true prosperity begin

@dharmaatdawn Exactly. It especially pisses me off every time I hear Obama mention how he's going to "fight" for payroll taxes. Sorry, but there isn't anyone, even the poorest among us, who "can't afford" to pay their payroll taxes! And in exchange for what? More and bigger tax breaks for the super-rich? Nobody wants to admit that we've been at war for 10 years and you can't pay for war without raising taxes. Instead, the argument is we need more tax cuts and Obama is just spend crazy.
