This car used to give the Lotus Elise a run for its money. It had a even better engine, better gearbox, more practical, and was $15,000 cheaper! If only it looked as good.
@Cdogpyjamas delsol is NOTHING compared to a s2000 delsol is just a civic with different body panels, plus there not nice cars at all there really cheap same price as the civic slow as hell not even close to being on the same level as an s2k. the s2000 was car of the year 3 yrs in a row and has won SO MANY awards. Just runs circles around a delsol, why would you even compare a fwd civic two seater to a monster RWD s2k????
It is shame that many people still talk about lack of torque when they talk about spoarts cars! When I drive S2000 seriouslym I only drive the car using 6500 and 9000 rpm. I have no problem with Torque S2000 on roaduse. (unless you drive the car on the cuicuits for time attack.) Do these guys, British people know how to appreciate sports cars? They have Lotus with very small torque, but they are pure sports cars! They never talk about lack of torque when they talk about Lotus.
@ramrambatti I know this is an old comment but I'll reply anyway! " Do these guys, British people know how to appreciate sports cars?" You're talking about the nation that's famous for it's 2 seater sports cars- MG, Austin Healey, Triumph, TVR, Jaguar, Lotus...not to mention the Mini Cooper. So yes, we understand very well about small engined sports cars. That said I drive a Civic Type R myself and often wish it had more pull from low revs. We're not in the 50's any more.
Okay now we're sort of on the same topic here, but I am looking at getting another car within the next few years. I currently own a Prelude and was wondering if I should go with a used AP1 S2k, or maybe wait a little longer and go for an '04 STi. Anyone have any thoughts on this?
STI but im all about nissan now, low priced for the performance it gives and its a japanese car witch makes it all better for me. G37 and skylines its promising with the new skylines also. But i would go for a STI indeed
AP1 2002-2003 are in my mind better cars. U still get the original 9000 rpm. I have an '02 and love every moment of it. Sti is nice but more expensive and u don't get that "Wind in ur hair" effect. If u don't drive this car with a grin in ur face then there is something wrong.
the evo is a great car, but to learn how a car should behave and learn how to handel it, you need to drive a good rear wheel drive car. and S2000 is a great car for that...Evo is great and it'll go around corner fast, just gas and turn. I have drove evos, m3, sti, srt-4...all are great cars, but s2000 has it's own class.

Yeah, TIff Needell.. He started presenting old Top Gear with Clarkson..
Then he went off and did Fifth Gear while Clarkson started to new format of Top Gear

S2000 is a better car... but if you want something along the line of a fast 4 door, buy an Evo...
Best of all, if you can afford it, buy a used Porsche Boxster

i've had ap1 and currently have ap2... ap1 feels like a faster car, but ap2 handles much better.
dream ap3: recaro seats, 330+hp 220+ tq, nav screen.

he said "2 liter" and the ap1 model (2000-2003) was the 2.0 liter engine so its probably an 00-03

if you really want to learn how to drive a car... get an MR2!
after owning my mr2 for many years now, i'm confident behind the wheel of many of cars.
