  • If I wasn't a Lemeshevist before, I certainly am one now! Holy cow this is magnificent!

  • LEMESHEV was a diamond that shone and continues to shine forever.

  • Thank you for this. It's the first Lemeshev video I've come across in the correct pitch. He is fantastic. Great example for singers to learn from.

  • Amazing.. The tone production, control of dynamics simply incredible. His high register brilliant and totally under his control. Pavarotti, a very good singer,

    Lemeshev an extraordinary vocal artist.

  • Younglemeshevist .Спасибо, Natalie, за все, что Вы выкладываете на YouTube! Я чувствую, что смогли , то показали. Еще раз благодарим и желаем успехов!!!!

    Приятно было познакомиться!

  • I'm a Lemeshivist!

  • Wow! I loved Lemeshev already for his Lensky, but these Rigoletto excerptas show a side of him that is even more appealing, if that is possible! Thanks so much for posting all this great Lemeshev. I feel I am becoming a Lemeshevist as well...

  • Awesome!

  • Unbelievably Good. Makes you want to barf hearing anyone else!!!

  • Помню я плакала девчонкой оттого,что когда я вырасту,ЕГО уже не будет.

  • Фантастика! Огромное спасибо !

  • great tenor

  • Безусловно один из лучших!

  • Один из лучших теноров всех времен, без всякого сомнения.

  • Вы правы. Спасибо за комментарий:)

  • Wow! What a beautiful voice!

  • Today I discovered the great SL !!!He is just great..I guess If he wouldn't be Russian, He would be the greatest tenor ever!!!!Thanks for this beatiful colaboration!!!

  • Seductively beautiful voice that is sweet like honey and brilliant like a diamond.

Thank you for making this unique and important recording available.

  • I wonder if someone ever saw his spaceship. He's not from this planet, that's for sure. Unbelievable good.

GermanOperaSinger made a perfect definition; it flows like water.

  • where can I find the Russian lyrics for all his excerps?? I like them

  • We citizens of the USA have many freedoms, but even we are simply not exposed to the greatness of other Geo-Political cultural achievements. In general, we know of a dozen, or so, and never realize that there are thousands of wonderful multi-media singers that we will never hear of at all. In less democratic countries it's even worse. Then Nationalism enters in and sours the whole listening experience for many, Regardless, Sergei Lemeshev , is a wonderful operatic lyriic tenor.

  • Спасибо большое! Невольно перестаю дышать, когда слушаю ЕГО.

  • Nice! super lyric sound and a great Russian tenor.

  • Accidenti!!!! Wow to the 23rd power.

    Spasibo, Sergei.

    Thanks GOS

  • Good GOD! What an ending! A Db in messa voce, and THEN a diminuendo on top of that! Truly one of the greatest lyric tenors who ever lived. Pity he is so underrated outside of Russia. He also has the most perfect vibrato of any tenor I've ever heard. And his placement is so flawless, no covering or nonsense vowel modification...sound flows out of him like water.

  • @GermanOperaSinger -- Is he underrated outside of Russia or just not known? I hadn't even heard of him before today and am very impressed. Remember that the Soviet system was largely closed to the West, though you'd think Stalin would have wanted to hold up Lemeshev as some great product of Communism, which he wasn't of course, having studied with teachers long-established before the 1917 revolution.

  • The ending is C-R-A-Z-Y !!

  • Thank you, younglemeshevist, a thousand times! Lemeshev sings like an angel.

  • In fact in operasinging Russians are one of the greatest.

  • I just listened to it a couple of times more. I'm so excited! So much fire, so much passion - that's opera at it's best! Christ, why is this guy so unknown compared to Caruso, Lauri-Volpi and Pavarotti? He sings absolutely gorgeously!

  • Because those gentlemen were Italian and Italians in general quite obviously and naturally dominated the Italian repertoire. But they also had the opportunity to sing worldwide unlike Lemeshev. Caruso in particular had the advantage of premiering several works of Puccini himself in New York and introducing the world to the phonograph. Signor Pavarotti was of course a master showman and marketer of his name while Lauri-Volpi had the opportunity to premiere Turandot in New York.

  • I had never heard of this singer before and just stumbled over him in Youtube. Absolutely amazing! I'm speechless. I never knew the Russians had such magnificent opera singers. I immediately ordered two CDs with Amazon.

  • Шикарная запись!

  • Прекрасно! Здорово! That is absolutely unbelievable! This particular aria is devilishly difficult, and many tenors die on it. It lies so unrelentingly high in the voice. He sings it beautifully, and then, as if that were not enough, interpolates a high D flat at the end, and then as if THAT were not enough, pulls it down on a decrescendo! This is clearly one of the very greatest of tenors, not just of Russia but of the world! Great recording to post. Спасибо!!

  • Greatest tenor of all time!

  • Unfortunately, no but I would like to learn it. I speak English, spanish and french. I hate France who don't understand my passion. I am in a school in France where I was born but my friends don't understand that I love. That's why, I am alone. I love russia and my first name is Igor ;)

  • Glad to "meet" you, Igor. The Russian language is difficult even for Russians:)

  • @younglemeshevist

It is much appreciated that you post the magnificent Lemeshev. There are not enough superlatives

to describe his consummate grasp of the Art of Singing.

  • I cry in front of my computer, what happeness!! Surnatural.

  • Thanks for the comment. Do you speak Russian?
