  • i think i'm going to watch all yours tutorial, they are extremely useful. thanks for the great job!!

  • hey man, I tried this tutorial out but when I take the exact same string bass guitar, mine sounds rather like someone smashing a book on the table then a bassguitare ?

  • @saphke1991 you have to play around with the parameter of the bass guitar like FM, Release Global time Cutoff Etc etc.

  • The problem is that when you boost the EQ like that, specially the low end you get a lot of phasing issues because of the EQ. It is always better to cut than to boost.

  • bo guy you are speaking like you are stoned listening makes me tired

  • What does a Multiband Dynamics?

    Please help me.

  • tewwww muchhh bassssD8 i know theres no set rule for mixing anything but thats just gunna make your low end muddy not punchy, btw you also gunna get alot of good punch from your mid and upper area depending on the sample so high pass isnt the greatest idea either. im a beginner so im not claiming to know everything and im not trying to tear you down dude just giving some friendly advice

  • @liferhxc below 30 hz all sounds needs cut!!!! you are right !!!

to fatten up your kick you need to use layering of few sounds and eq each of them /// :) try search google and youtube!

    cheers mate!!!

  • Agree, u shouldnt boost the kick like that, it just not viable. You need 2 get rid off bad frequencies and cut the low low part completely off. and boost the punchy part. Still you do what you want it 2 sound like but if you do like like this in the end you have zero dynamics in your track

  • you wanna get on those multiband comp bro. Serious biz.

  • Having a good kick or snare or whatever drum you are looking for all stems from one thing, a good quality solid sample. No matter how much eq or compression you put on it, you can't turn a bad sample good.

  • @PotentSyncDan our right but thats one of the reason why I work with either synthesized instruments like operator or the one I use for kick drums which is also a simple synthesizer made by intelligent sounds and music, a great company of synthesized VST plugin

  • @PotentSyncDan well put bro

  • music is not about rules its all about how you want the sound to sound.......if you want loud drums then so be it there is no set way to mix or create

  • I like to think EQ should be a bit more about the "less is more" theory and not the "loud as fuck" theory. Instead of boosting those frequencies, subtract the ones that don't really need to be there. Boosting is good, but in the end all you're doing is making a really loud, muddy mess. I'm not sure if it's the sound quality of the video, or if it's what's coming off your master track that I'm hearing, so I can't really offer any real advice.

  • try it with corpus!! ;)

  • try N:Y compression (parallel) ;-) 5 min and get the boooommm ...have fun...

  • You shouldnt boost the kick like that man.

  • @MakoMusicOfficial thanks for the advice.

  • all your doin is boosting the low end frequency of the kik:L

  • @DrBeatMaster1 and how do you get punchy kicks is there another technique to get punchy kicks.

  • @atabeylive

Yh, heavy compression, lil eq, staurated, and compessed again

  • @DrBeatMaster1 to many processing and when it comes to the master channel in the end all those chain effects results in no progress when you compress and EQ and saturate and compress again that chain is a negative I have tried it and in the master channel when the sounds are all mixed in the kicks gets eaten up by all the sounds, why because your doing multiple compression and in the master channel the sounds would take those frequencies and eat it like a box of Cheerios

  • but now arent your bass and kick hitting the same freq. thus muddyness, try playing a bass not on the same beat of the kick

  • @robuzy not really threre is no muddy bass sound just a heavy dub out bass sound and the kick is not conflicting with the bass. as you could hear it clearly every kick sound and every bass sound.

  • @atabeylive cool thx for a reply i agree it does sound clear

  • sometimes there are some clowns in here that they think they know it all. All they do is waste their time and my time.

  • wat program are you using?

  • @mattibanez66 ableton live

  • try making another pinpoint in the EQ to cut off the frequencies below 30-38 hz. And use the EQ better for cutting than for boosting , there are other ways of achieving THAT bass. =)

  • @GlowinGeometries Yeah man, boosting 50000 db in the kick's low frequencies is not the way to go

  • @agauerm do you have a solution, what do you have that could be the perfect solution.

  • Respond to this video... make a screen cast and show the world that you have the most utterly perfect boost of DB or how to make them pop out kicks.

  • @agauerm make a screen cast and prove to me you cannot do what you said then show me that I am wrong.

  • @atabeylive lol, i dont need to prove anything to you dude, you are the master audio enginneer!

  • @agauerm I am not going to argue with you because I know what I am doing and what your trying to do here, is give bad info your lucky I let your comment get through because thats why I monitor my comments.

  • @agauerm if its not the way to check out silverdubber youtube channel and look up for atabey. I wonder why my tracks are out there being publish, I should of not let this comment go through my youtube channel but I just want to see what are the reactions.

  • @GlowinGeometries Prove to me you can just make a screencast post it and then render the track let me see how well it sounds on my Genelec.

  • @atabeylive relax man its just an opinion.. I bet those kicks sound delicious on the genelecs and your room acoustics help a lot =)

    I'm Just saying...

If you have a good mix you don't need a limiter in the first place. You are distorting the kick on the channel and limiting is not solving anything...

boosting all the way to the top is NOT the way to go bro .... try reading a bit more about the use of equalizers.

but you know each to their own. peace ;)

  • @GlowinGeometries do not worry Glowin Geometries this is only in the kick channel it is needed to boost a bit of the sound of the kick later in the master you could do what ever you want in it but you need to boost the kick in the channel a bit because when the entire elements are playing through the master channel the kick and some elements would be knocked out that way you could then level it out. in the volume instance channel. So if you have any doubt check out silver dubber

  • Respond to this video... check silver dubber channel and look for atabey. I seem to do pretty well.

  • i love you.

  • im having trouble with the white noise i cant seem to make the note smaller like how you did at 4:13

  • @SavageLUEY add more attack in the oscillator of the instrument that you created the high hats.

  • @SavageLUEY

Whar you do in is click with the right mouse when you are viewing the notes and change the view setting to Wide or Narrower depending on how short you want to make the note

  • Never really thought to use the operator in that way. It really gives it that punch if thats the sound your going for!

  • OOO so i was always told to cut the low out then play with the eq ...this works even better in alot of cases , idk if you know what cyber industrial musiq is but theirs somthing ive been trying to under stand ,example the song by yade-the hunter his kicks are deep but punchy ,and the bass is the same way and in the song by dioxide -judas his bas and kicks are almost the same way and the snares or hi hats have this like metal sound to it do you know how its done?

  • @BLAZE45 the kicks are cool I just heard the song from Yade, but you could get those same kicks with Operator I might post a tutorial on how to get that punchy kick your looking for, if not there is a tutorial section where you could learn how to use operator synthesizer its very good.

  • @atabeylive OOO OK I WOULD REALLY LIKE THAT THANK YOU

  • @BLAZE45 There are certain guidelines that exist but not a single one of them should ever take precedence over your ears so long as your monitoring environment is reasonable. That said it can be easy to get addicted to that 30-80Hz region when EQing kicks and basslines, just remember to let the track breathe and trust your ears before you trust someone's advice because your ears are the consumer.

  • thx alot! :)
