i don't think it does, correct me if i'm wrong, but i'm sure the alternator is tightly coiled copper wireing, kind of a turbine so the faster the rpm, the more power, until the regulator lets just enough power through to keep the lights running without blowing the fuses, other wise everytime you floored it the lights fuses/lights would blow, (atleast thats what i think, and am led to belive)
does it normally do that or it just happened to that time because if it's a regular thing it's probably the alternator but if not the battery could have been a little low
77? tell me its yellow, lol oh god let it be yellow, and black bonnet too, its a shame you live in the states, i'd happily give it a new paint job if it needed it, i love those early vet shapes, they started to suck during the 80's, but then, most things started to suck during the 80's, you HAVE to put the white writting on the out side of the tyres too
actually its blue, thinking about going black, but i those corvettes look awesome in yellow but i don't want to draw attention from the cops and being that i'm in the states i don't know what a bonnet is i think its the hood and it does have white lettering on the tires
lol yeah here in Australia, we call the "hood" the bonnet, a hood is something we wear over our heads when it cold, what are the probation rules like for young divers in the states?
in my state in Australia, we get our "learners license" at 16, which mean we can only drive with an adult, and we have to wear yellow stickers on our cars with a big black letter L on them, then when we turn 18 we get our "probationary license" which lets us drive alone, but we have to wear red stickers, with a white letter P, we are given our full license at 21, however we can legally drink at 18,
after 6 months of driving w/ an adult all the time you get your "restricted"
keeping count 15.5 yrs old
you can drive anywhere between 6am and 6pm.
(this can be extended to midnight, just extra paperwork.) after 6 more months w/o any tickets you get your full license. 16 years old now. if you get tickets it dont really matter because when you turn 17 it becomes a full license anayway.
hasn't been measured yet, it's getting dyno'd within the next month or so, so i'll post it up, at the moment it has a fuck off huge fan in it that suckin most of the horse power out of the motor, i'mm gonna thermo fan it, to up the HP, then dyno it to see what kind of torque i can get
after, some fuckwit called the EPA and said "boo fuckin hoo this guys car is too loud" $520 later, i had new ceramics and all the way up to the extractors, kind of a blessing in disguise
It's the engine torque, it pulls the car sideways because its attached to the car, if it was on the ground it would pull it sideways as well, you will know any car will do that.
Yeah, as am I, and I wasn't directing it towards you, I directed it to Midenginehotrot who asked about it and you never actually said torque is what causes it... it also doesnt have to be all that powerful to twist sideways when not transverse.
probably not, it's just the way the engine revs, like the old police cars that had the steel brackets welded to the chassis so it wouldn't twist in half, :) nothing to fear, it just means you have a healthy motor
What mufflers do you have on this man? that sounds so NICE!

nice car did you happen to notice the tail lights and the interior lights brighten up as you revved it?
rjsny350 4 years ago
yeah the engine take sover power expulsion, most old cars do it, some newer ones do too, i have a 1998 magna that does the same thing when its cold
ddfMCH 4 years ago
oh im still learning electrical but i thought it might have been the alternator/regulator
rjsny350 4 years ago
thats basicly what i ment lol, car electrics or just general?
ddfMCH 4 years ago
car electrics but wouldnt the alternator maintain maximum voltage regardless of engine rpm?
rjsny350 4 years ago
i don't think it does, correct me if i'm wrong, but i'm sure the alternator is tightly coiled copper wireing, kind of a turbine so the faster the rpm, the more power, until the regulator lets just enough power through to keep the lights running without blowing the fuses, other wise everytime you floored it the lights fuses/lights would blow, (atleast thats what i think, and am led to belive)
ddfMCH 4 years ago
I'm not sure either but the regulator keeps the system at 12.6 volts and i think it's putting out that much at idle
rjsny350 4 years ago
ahh, it was cold when i started it so the revs would have been lower than a warm engine, maybe thats why the lights were dimming and lighting up,
ddfMCH 4 years ago
does it normally do that or it just happened to that time because if it's a regular thing it's probably the alternator but if not the battery could have been a little low
rjsny350 4 years ago
yeah always when its cold, other than that the car runs fine
ddfMCH 4 years ago
my cousins 1970 plymouth did the same thing- damn i miss that car

you get your permit at 16, junior license at 17 and full drivers license at 18 but some states are different than others

well i guess if you don't care much for the big L on your car, you can drink until you do
rjsny350 4 years ago
yeah about the age...
south carolina, we get a permit at age 15.
