  • Great video. Thanks for posting

  • Someday I'm gonna travel west of the Mississippi River.

When I do I'm going to make sure that I do at least a little nude hiking in Lake Powell's canyons.

See if I can find me a nude houseboat party with some of the nudists/naturists that live out near that way and do me some exploring sans everything but some new sneakers.

  • oh my god i saw my houseboat in this video !!

  • I've finally found this video! This was one of the first videos I've watched on youtube around 4 years ago...yet it is still a joy to watch now, thank you.

  • Awesome flying site.

  • Brilliant using floats, taking off from the lake! I remember eyeing a GWS Slow Stick nib some years ago in wonder, as it was so cheap. The SS is larger than I once imagined and pleasantly dynamic

  • NICE !!!

    I just started flying Slowstick...

    Motor : KM02832R1

    Battery : 2100-2600

    Ge ~ 25-40min

  • The only thing that could have made this vid better is the top gun sound track.

Otherwise - GREAT VID - one of my favs!!

  • Nice flying.

  • what canyon is this? near wahweap or further north?

  • Doug, As many times as I've watched this it's one of my favorite videos.

Thanks much for sharing, - Retro

  • sweet i want that place to fly!

  • wonderful! :)

  • damn nice video

  • Very Nice Vid. Great Views from above Lake Powell!!!

  • can you give me more info were to get these planes?

  • The best place to get them is Tower Hobbies. Check out their website. Its called the GWS Slow Stick.

  • i know accaly were u are

  • Oh yeah, this is so cool!

  • Your video here inspired me to take up RC Plane flying. Almost 3 years later I've had over 10 models and fly almost every day! Thanks for the inspiration!

  • That is so cool. I think I might take it up as well. Looks like fun!

  • how many mega pixels

  • 5 m.p.

  • Lake Powell

Water is probably down 200' by now..

  • Awesome video love lake powell have'nt been there in 6 years hopefully i will be able to afford it again.

  • Good landing!

  • That is quite a unique setup there, good quality vid!

I just put some ailerons on my slowstick, going to try it out later today. wish me luck!

  • Hah wish i had one of those planes :D Thats a good landing by the way :)

  • Excellent video. Perhaps the best R/C onboard video on youtube.

  • Thanks very much... Huge compliment.

  • This video reminded me of a trip we took to Lake Powell back in 1987. A Friend and I bought a parasail to take to Lake Powell. The parasail turned out to be the one of the best purchases made for a vacation. The view from above was spectacular to say the least. The memories of Lake Powell will forever be etched in my mind. One of my all time favorite vacations from all perspectives.

  • where did you get a parasail form and how much are they?

  • Hey great video! Lake Powell's my favorite place in the world. And seriously who does this song?

  • It does not come with the plane... This motor was needed to get the extra weight of the plane up.

  • Pretty sweet flight! What is the make and model of the plane you flew?

  • A GWS Slowstick with Pontoons and Pentax camera mounted to it.

  • Thanks! How did you mount the Pentax Optio? Was there any need to waterproof the camera?

  • Also did you upgrade to the himax 2812-0850 motor or did or come with the plane?

  • Fantastic!!

Great job piloting and landing on the water. I'd be very nervous about all of the radio and video gear near the water. A dunking could be costly. What kind of precautions do you make with waterproofing? or do you have to take your chances with the water? One more thing, though... I wish we got a view of the plane you built.

  • Thank you for giving me a perspective on Lake Powell I've never had from a houseboat...the picture quality is incredible. The last time I was there an F-18 TOM CAT flew over about 70' off the water , I'm serious...the roar was terrifying. This is an outstanding video!

  • Thankyou. The plane was higher than it seems in the video but I had to keep it in sight. I should try a bigger plane so I can get even higher.

  • Beaty... I recomend u buy the FPV for ur plane, with head tracker...

  • nice.

  • that camera is better than my actual video camera...wtf

  • Thats was kool, if only you edited better it would have been great

  • I wish now that I did. I didn't have the time then. It was kind of a last minute thing that I even decided to post it on Youtube.

  • omg this is amazing ... i love lake powell we go there every year thisis amazing!!

  • Thanks. I love Powell.

  • your are a youtube video god. this is by far the sickest rc plane footage I've ever seen! good job, old chap!

  • You've got me inspired. I study wildlife (hobby) at stream sites and swamps and would love some aerial film of the spots. I think I'm going to have to go get this plane and your camera and get some footage. Fantastic idea, now I do not need a gyrocopter! No need to die in an ultralight crash!

  • pretty nice! just to relaxxxxxxxx!!!!!!!!!!1

  • glitches?

  • How much range does that have?

  • As far as you can see it... but you don't want it to get that far because it's to hard to tell if your upside down or not and wether it's going away from you or coming towards you.

  • Great Video, I really enjoyed it!

  • What is this song?

  • RC Nuts, post up your rc setups at my site - rcgearing . com

  • very very very nice

  • that's awsom

  • Wow, that was sweet. Great flying in a beautiful place. Thanks

  • youre awsome!

  • Great Vid Doug!.

I bouutght a GWS slow stick and installed ailerons to get some stable flight, but man its windy in NY and this thing can only handle bout 2-5 mph winds. Take a look at my vids, Im flying a Flycam one camera, its a $100.00 camera which is ok, but not nearly as nice as your vids, Any suggestions?

  • nice!

  • Killer video, killer music. Thanks man. I miss Lake Powell. Going back out there next year.

  • Very very nice!

  • if u carve little wooden skis and put them on a sky fly do u think it would work on a lake ???

  • Awesome video! Skydiving Powell must be a trip.

  • please tell me where you get those planes!! would be appreciated.

  • Any hobbie shop...39 bucks...or at least at this typing. The camera, mounts, bigger motor and battery are all gonna be extra.Just type in Slowstick on youtube and you'll see a whole bunch of the same planes.GWS SLOWSTICK.

  • wath is this rof country ?? city?

  • where are you from man

  • great vid, beautiful scenery !

  • Cool stuff! Great video quality and Powell is beautiful as always!

  • those pictures are amazing =] very well done

  • ditto

  • Very nice video well done.

  • Mate - that was fucking outstanding :)

So much better than all the shaky out of focus crap that is normally associated with these cameras on RC planes.

Excellent flying too - especially with the near-dead-stick!

    Superb :)

  • A terrific job Doug! Hearing it take off, a great instrumental while flying, and hearing it land. Very well put together, and I enjoyed the steady view of the mountains near the end.

  • Miss that area!!! 35-40 min. from where I used to live(Kanab) the radio glitches made me uneasy near the end.....

  • I LOVE Kanab... One of my favorite places to visit...The cave in the mountain on the side of the freeway... The rock stores... my house is loaded with stuff from Kanab.OOO the pink coral sand dunes also.

  • Ya, Coral Pink Sand Dunes, I was a Junior Ranger there in 78-79...LOL They used to call Kanab Little Hollywood years ago because so many movies were shot there. I was an extra several times back in the day. What camera setup did you use, they are the best resolution I have seen yet for RC video yet...

  • I used a Pentax Optio S5Z... They don't make that particular camera anymore but it wieghs 5ounces and has 5.5 m.p.I mounted with a case I made from paint sticks I got from Home Depot. Check out my other video called Slowstick Photo resume (I think) and it shows pics of the plane and my set-up. We actually lost the camera on the second flight. Landed to fast and tipped forward. Good thing we uploaded the first video on the laptop before the 2nd flight.

  • LAKE POWELL ROCKS ASS, top noch lake. Cool video

  • What a great day that was, awesome land!

  • This is great! I do the same thing c my slow stick: see edodfaao

  • You seemed to have a good time flying the small, ultra-light plane. What a great location to operate your aircraft.

  • Thanks for sharing, now I want to get a slow stick even more!

  • I have 12 different planes and the Slowstick is the only one I keep going back to. i think it's the most versatile plane there is... Just my opinion.

  • Nádhera!!

  • que bello !

  • very good video . excellent quality. well done

  • can you please tell me where and how your mounted the camera because you have almost no vibration :) thanks

  • very enjoyable :D

  • Has to be my favorite video on u tube. Model airplanes and Lake Powell awesome! The last time I was on Powell was 02 man that lake is low.

  • Some of the footage resembles Planet of the Apes crash landing. Also shot at the same local.

  • Great Vid.

  • You only need to contact AMA, And for about $50 a year for insurance, GOOD VID.

  • Where is this in Powell? Utah? Arizona? Bullfrog?

  • that is awesome me and my family are going to lake powell at the end of july and we are renting a houseboat i cant wait!! awesome vid

  • do u need a license to controll a plane

  • THis is an rc plane. You only need a license for the real plane glider or helicopter. Also for each one you need separate license

  • nOT IF IT'S ELECTRIC... BUT YOU DO IF IT'S A GAS POWERED PLANE..

  • how much did that plane cost

i think its nead that it is like a water plane

  • Quote....not by me annihil8ted (4 days ago)

THis is an rc plane. You only need a license for the real plane glider or helicopter. Also for each one you need separate license

  • Awesome video. What did you use to mount the camera?

  • Check out my other video called "Aerial Resume"... It shows the mount and the plane.

  • nice one.

  • ive met him once i think at a park on cave creek road in phoenix arizona by the costco by the loop 101 anyhow i be out there soon once i get my good gear on my slowstick.

  • Awesome! Thanks for sharing that with those that can not enjoy Powell very easily!

    Jim from Indianapolis

  • Awesome! I was just at Lake Powell this past Memorial Weekend, I love that lake! Definitely my favorite lake, so gorgeous.

  • Theres no place like Powell!

  • That was awesome! Thanks for posting.

  • even if u crach in the water the plane has flots on

  • koooool!!!!

  • Been to Powell on several occasions and I've never seen it from that perspective...that was a sweet vid. Great location, great music, and great flying!

  • I would do a search on RTF, Or known as ready to fly, chose a foam plane they cant take alot of abuse while you learn planes like will shatter into peices in a good crash a foamy wont. to start here is a good foamy RTF with 300F

Range Under 100 bucks overall the higher you go in the hobby the more cash it will cost. Do a yahoo search for the Rc B2 Spirit. I started on this thing 7 months ago, i have nose dive it on concret pavement from 150F up with minor damage a slow stick would be toast

  • what do u recomend i want a plane under 100 and easy to fly

  • Live in near usa dc, omg i wish for that much space people here are like gerbils all packed in like sardines they have forgotten what real life is this is refreshing to see a horizon with out a man made structure blocking the view. Great vid thanks

  • how much and how much do u need to spend for every single thing u need to fly it including batterys chargers and even motors if it doesnt come wit em and where can i get one and how easy is it to fly

  • To do this your looking around 375-500 for everything (camera inc) however I have been flying for 6 months on trainer planes and rc flight Sims and I wouldn't fly over water yet, one mistake and all that money is a wash literally. Nobody picks up a plane and flies this kind of stuff at the start unless you have lots of money to spend in your learning process on repairs and replacements from the numerous crashes that will occur. Start with trainer planes unless you like throwing money away.

  • çok güzel bir yer burası neresi

  • Very Cool

  • absolutely sweet. Do more please.

  • BTW, is that your cabin cruiser? You seem to be quite secluded. Must be a nice spot to get away and unwind.

  • Is that sunrise or sunset? Very beautiful view! Thanks for filming it for us.

  • That is very beautiful....A thousand claps to you!!

  • OMG!! AWESOME!!! one of the best video of Lake Powell I've ever seen. I posted it on myspace, thank you. By the way, I work at Lake Powell :)

  • That is truly the best RC video I've ever seen. You're just using a regular digital still cam that has a video record option? That's completely great.

  • Nice video.

  • what kind of rc plane is it?

  • That was one of the best onboard RC videos I've ever seen. Well done.

  • *splash*

  • The song is called "CLEAR" from Freeplaymusic
