To everyone with negative comments. You all wish you could be this woman. She came out of the womb dancing.She moves with conviction and passion. As for her looking like a man? She looks very Arabi, even though she isn't. The drama and the face is all very middle eastern. We tend to be over the top and she expresses it well. ALL IN ALL THIS WOMAN IS AMAZING. this is terrible... the worst interpretation of this music ever. Anybody can memorize words and sing along. It doesn't make them look middle eastern. Her movements are too tough, like most Eastern European dancers, and too big, and don't fit the music. And her acting is fake. And she needs to get rid of that veil!!!
She still looks like a man. There is no grace in her dancing. She thinks she commands the stage but what she does is make herself look more ridiculous than a comedian. She shimmies with her knees and not her hips and her acting is simply stupid.
@merlinado actually, the correct way to shimmy is through the knees so that you can correctly achieve the rocking movement without injuring yourself. When your knee moves so does your hip - its all connected.

actually she looks realy middle eastern... especially that she sings along with the song correctly... she is not that good technically but she dances with alot of heart and puts on a very beautiful interpretation of the song and the music
@tibherius she's not a poet or a composer to write lyrics or music. she's a dancer. if you don't like the way she dances - it's your own opinion. but there are thousands of people who like her dancing and even learn from her in her dance studio in Moscow :)
Somejah, with all my respect, this video is very far away to notice any emotions in her face. Sure you'll like her more if you check out some of her other videos. :-)
well i must say that she really dont dance good as she should if she want bellydancing then thats not it... but slow down a bit to monak.. i´m from libanon and we do know how to dance bellydance.. and russia do have olot of history behing them.. and its only good to learn from each other... my man is from egypt and all the girls in his family do not know how to dance so back up... cuz some can and some cant... and thats the same for people who is´nt arab...
Russians need to come up with their own form of dance instead of copying off other cultures dances. Either way, Russian women will never get it right so it doesn't matter, i'm just glad egypt threw them all out
Russia is more culturally developed then many other countries and they have their own form of dance too.. speaking about belly dance - they do it their way.. which personally I like the most of all... If russians danced bad arabs wouldn't even pay attention to them, instead they're good - that's why you react like it... I hate to read comment like yours about russian dancers.. If I don't like arab dancers I don't even watch their videos..

I don't think she does such a beautiful and classic piece of music justice with her abrupt movements and funny faces..nothing graceful about her at all and she seems to over-act.

I dont like the music, I dont like her face expressions also... and as a matter of fact she just makes some moves (very good I admit) but she cant create the vibe... there is something missing for me, feminine grace I would say... I have seen her in different performances, she is a specialist in a modern dance with elements of bellydance, but not in bellydaning

The song is Enta Omri sung by the Legendary Oum Kalthoum (the voice of Egypt). This song is HEART FELT, just like Maria's dancing. I'm not even in the audience, and I could feel this song just watching Maria dance. She reminds me of Dina with a slightly different style. Belly dance is not just about the flexible flashy moves that Didem and Sadie do (even though they are PHENOMENAL dancers), it's also about feelings, that's how you capture the audience.
There are many styles of belly dance and you can' decide which is "REAL" and which isn't...
She's one of the best belly dancers ever and btw I haven't seen any egyptian or turkish dancer that I would like.. So now I should write everywhere that they are not "Real" belly dancers?
This dancer has potential but I"m afraid to say that this was a very mediocre performance, certainly didn't inspire me nor was it full of emotion the way bellydancing and esp Inta Omri should be. Just my 2 cents!!

I found her dancing very mechanical & she dances without Passion,( I found that strange as most Spanards Dance will a wole cargo of RAW Passion!) so It is easy to see why you do not rate her, she is a Pretty Girl ( Does not look Spanish) nice smole " shame about her performance, Thats it! she can dance but canot perform.

Munique must know people to be that famose with little talent & NoEntertainment Value. Mia is somthing spicial. In the yellow, she dances like The Iraian Woman before they closed Iran.
While in the Blue her style is like a Eastern Europian Romany. Try Looking at the Argenteanian Dancers most are excelent. & If You want to Laugh (or cry) Then look at Austrialian Belly Dancers. I have never come across such Bad Dancers, Bad Performers & Diabolical costumes all in one country as the Aussies!!

I think you have misunderstood me. Iranian woman cannot dance in Iran Anymore, as it is a Islamic Fundamentalist state. Before it became a Fundamentalist State, Iranian had many Wonderful dancers. I watched the video because someone on a bellydance forum said this is an example of bad Oum Kalsoum interpretation. I have not seen one Shashkova performance I liked, aggressive, not pretty, not feeling Arab music at all.
With the 1st minute I was not all turned off - she s not feeling it at all, but it was not bad.
At 1.40 I had to turn the video off because the part was just awful. NO raks sharki.
well i agree. when shaskova "dances", it looks like she's moving cause she has to, not because she wants to or likes to dance:/ I've though never watched a complete dance of hers, I think the first few seconds tells me enough:)
i do think she could be good at more forceful dances though, maybe Flamenco or some Romani dances? i ve heard she s a Roma, so that could be interesting..

maria is soooo sensual bellydancer..when i watch her dance i can tell exactly which story is she telling the audience..this one is really sad..that's the charm of bellydancing..u can dance with your feelings...it's a language that not everybody is able to understand...tomtegubbeiglasen123 sadie and kaya are great bellydancers..but all what you can find in their dancing is coreography and no soul or feelings...5 stars for thid vid.
I HIGHLY agree. There's Egyptian pop, where you just have fun (Sadie and Kaya, Dedim, ect), and then there's Kalthoum, where you have to meet the audience on an emotiomal scale. Not many dancers understand or know how to project those feelings. Usually people who have been through a lot (in their lives) know how to do this because they've been there.
Sadie is very good tecnicly but she doesn't have any soul in her dance. And she isn't good as a teacher :( I hate this tendency to put in shit everybody around. Sounds like jelousity.
While Shaskova might be not be the best at dancing to enta omri, too sexy, she does a killer shik shak shok. Way better than any turkish or egyptian dancer i've seen. Only a few Lebanese are comparable. The quality on this video is abysmal though.

well i must say that she really dont dance good as she should if she want bellydancing then thats not it... but slow down a bit to monak.. i´m from libanon and we do know how to dance bellydance.. and russia do have olot of history behing them.. and its only good to learn from each other... my man is from egypt and all the girls in his family do not know how to dance so back up... cuz some can and some cant... and thats the same for people who is´nt arab...

Russians need to come up with their own form of dance instead of copying off other cultures dances. Either way, Russian women will never get it right so it doesn't matter, i'm just glad egypt threw them all out

Russia is more culturally developed then many other countries and they have their own form of dance too.. speaking about belly dance - they do it their way.. which personally I like the most of all... If russians danced bad arabs wouldn't even pay attention to them, instead they're good - that's why you react like it... I hate to read comment like yours about russian dancers.. If I don't like arab dancers I don't even watch their videos..

Olya I am egyptian, trust me we are the best of the best in terms of bellydancing. No matter how much you try, you will never compare. Prostitutes can be from any country and Russia is very big and has a big population.. that is why there's probably more prostitutes from Russia.. It's also a problem of the middle east if prostitution is so popular there.. And still I don't see ANY prostitution dancing in the video... sorry but there isnt too much of grace... I dont like the music, I dont like her face expressions also... and as a matter of fact she just makes some moves (very good I admit) but she cant create the vibe... there is something missing for me, feminine grace I would say... I have seen her in different performances, she is a specialist in a modern dance with elements of bellydance, but not in bellydaning

The song is Enta Omri sung by the Legendary Oum Kalthoum (the voice of Egypt). This song is HEART FELT, just like Maria's dancing. I'm not even in the audience, and I could feel this song just watching Maria dance. She reminds me of Dina with a slightly different style. Belly dance is not just about the flexible flashy moves that Didem and Sadie do (even though they are PHENOMENAL dancers), it's also about feelings, that's how you capture the audience.

This dancer has potential but I"m afraid to say that this was a very mediocre performance, certainly didn't inspire me nor was it full of emotion the way bellydancing and esp Inta Omri should be. Just my 2 cents!!

I looked at some clips of Munique Neith. I found her dancing very mechanical & she dances without Passion,( I found that strange as most Spanards Dance will a wole cargo of RAW Passion!) so It is easy to see why you do not rate her, she is a Pretty Girl ( Does not look Spanish) nice smole " shame about her performance, Thats it! she can dance but canot perform.

Munique must know people to be that famose with little talent & NoEntertainment Value. Mia is somthing spicial. In the yellow, she dances like The Iraian Woman before they closed Iran.
While in the Blue her style is like a Eastern Europian Romany. Try Looking at the Argenteanian Dancers most are excelent. & If You want to Laugh (or cry) Then look at Austrialian Belly Dancers. I have never come across such Bad Dancers, Bad Performers & Diabolical costumes all in one country as the Aussies!!

I think you have misunderstood me. Iranian woman cannot dance in Iran Anymore, as it is a Islamic Fundamentalist state. Before it became a Fundamentalist State, Iranian had many Wonderful dancers. ( that is what I ment by Closed) Mia dances in the Iranian Style. Re Munique.: Muinque must have friends in High places, as to be famose you need TV & Media Exposiure Munique Got that exposure, If not by talent, then perhaps by important Friends.

I watched the video because someone on a bellydance forum said this is an example of bad Oum Kalsoum interpretation. I have not seen one Shashkova performance I liked, aggressive, not pretty, not feeling Arab music at all.
With the 1st minute I was not all turned off - she s not feeling it at all, but it was not bad.
At 1.40 I had to turn the video off because the part was just awful. NO raks sharki.

We see, we see. Only arabs are perfect dancers, they are never do anything wrong, always sensitive, never vulgar. Is somebody here to believe in this fair tale? The reality is complitelly different:arabs(as Americans) are very different, I saw awfull egyptians, they shouldn't dance. !And let me tell you: this fact that we discuss her dance at numerouse pages tells that she is very talented dancer, do you like her or don't you like this. It's up on you. The are no dancers loved by everybody.

maria is soooo sensual bellydancer..when i watch her dance i can tell exactly which story is she telling the audience..this one is really sad..that's the charm of bellydancing..u can dance with your feelings...it's a language that not everybody is able to understand...tomtegubbeiglasen123 sadie and kaya are great bellydancers..but all what you can find in their dancing is coreography and no soul or feelings...5 stars for thid vid.

I HIGHLY agree. There's Egyptian pop, where you just have fun (Sadie and Kaya, Dedim, ect), and then there's Kalthoum, where you have to meet the audience on an emotiomal scale. Not many dancers understand or know how to project those feelings. Usually people who have been through a lot (in their lives) know how to do this because they've been there.

While Shaskova might be not be the best at dancing to enta omri, too sexy, she does a killer shik shak shok. Way better than any turkish or egyptian dancer i've seen. Only a few Lebanese are comparable. The quality on this video is abysmal though.
