  • Some 400 P-36's were supplied to France before the start of WWII. Some also were used by Finland, who bought them from the Germans after the fall of France where they did quite well against the Soviet air force. The P-40 was a further development of the P-36.

  • Power to weight ratio changed a lot during the 1930s and 1940s. The aerodynamics improved some but it was mostly better fuel allowing more powerful engines that made the biggest difference. That actually is the driving force throughout the history of aviation. The search for more power.

  • wow,how did this relic survive ww2?

  • Ok, sweet thanks. Now i just wanna see a video of one of them turning in some passes : )

  • Is this simalair to the p-36? I learned about the p-36 yesterday on the military channel, when they explained how it was not good enough as a fighter compared to the spitfire, and the me-109, it made me think a lot about the wildcat, except that was even better than the p-36

  • Yes it is virtually the same type of aircraft

  • Would love to see that Hawk in person. They were originally built in Buffalo, NY, where I live.
