  • thanks for this vid...dont know if there is a reason why no other soldering vid uses your first example...tried it and it work perfectly...example 2 is the way i had been doing it,,,and always had the problem with melting the insulation...but no more,,,thanks again..

  • @3131phil Glad it worked for you!

  • can you send me a link or picture of the flux you used. im going to be doing some soldering on my car and want to do it right the first time i like the video but when ima do it i would like to know the do's n donts thanks

  • @818blue818 message me your email.

  • @DIYallday i tried but i cant

  • does this only work on copper wire?

  • where can i get that kind of flux?

  • @meade9166 Homedepot should carry it.

  • Good job on the video. Thanks.

  • that is the fastest wire soldering job ive ever seen!

  • what solder did you use in the video?

  • @Thomas0zero I don't know the name but its just a standard electrical solder that they sell at home depot.

  • Nice vans and nice vid :)

  • The 1st method you used is the best. Been soldering since I was a little kid and I've come to realize that if you put a lil bit of solder on the iron, flux the wire & touch it with the soldering iron, that's faster. The 2nd method tends to melt the casing to the wire, and it also hardens the wire more causing easier breakage.

  • I see you have to dry your hair when your dune that's why mine never works i guess

  • Doesn't the solder already come with flux inside it?

  • @1point61803 only rosin core solder

  • @1point61803

Some does, but extra flux can help

  • @1point61803 Some do and some don't. I prefer to used the stand alone flux so I can use as much as I want to.

  • Great video! Thank you very much!

  • great video. i got two questions though: Is there a such thing as a solder wire with flux core already inside? Is it better then adding the flux externally?

  • @yourtube2456 I'm not sure, but if you use rosin core solder then you don't have to use flux. But don't take my word as gospel. I've seen people solder without flux and they used rosin core.

    Good luck.

  • @yourtube2456 im pretty sure there is such a thing but I havent used it.

  • Epic HD is Epic

  • How many watts is yours? Mine is 30 w 120 V. I did exactly wat you did the 1st time and it did not do that.

  • @j35cincy Did you put solder on to the soldering iron before you touched it to the wires that have flux on it? Only other thing I can think of is maybe you didnt let your soldering iron heat up fully, the hotter the better.

  • NOOOO!

Use flux core solder. Using plumber style flux like thaat is bad long term. Flux is corrosive, especially the stuff your using there, and after a few months that joint will be falling apart.

The best way is still twist like you did, but dont load with the flux...just solder with flux core solder.

    Try it.

  • Great video ,been doing it wrong all theses years that flux way is the way to go

  • Fantastic video. Good work.

  • How many watts is that Solder Iron?

  • @jdj55 35 Watts I think. It was labeled as a medium duty soldering iron.

  • @DIYallday Thanx...Do u ALWAYS use flux? Im wiring up and electric fan on my car and was wondering If ill need flux when soldering?

  • @jdj55 I do just cause it makes it so much easier as you can see in the video but it is not required.

  • lol i do the same thing good video bro. Thanks
