there's something harsh about the girl's port de bras. but Daniil is brilliant. However, he must be twenty something today and I still find that he looks like a fourteen year old.
I think he is wonderful, but he lacks a bit of turn out (feet), and more royal presence in the torso and placed arms. Classical ballet is born in Louis XIV reign.
I love his almost liquid flow. There almost are no "positions", just fluid movement, unbroken. He can do "flash" when and if he wants to, but that lack of striving for effect and a sense of repose in motion? Wonderful.
One of the few male dancers that makes me want the ballerina to just go away so I can watch him and him alone. He is fantastic - and so young. Astounding that he hasn't even begun to reach his full capabilities.
He's one of the best techical dancers of his time. Reminds me of Angel Corella. Lacks the muscularity of many dancers, but makes up for it in technique...
I give the kid credit for just having the courage to do this ballet.. The head piece makes him look like a bird. Is he thin? Well, what is dancing about? Work! Work! Work! That is the reason for 99% of dancers quitting soon. Now his technique? He has it all. Hopefully his body stays strong and he stays discipline. The latter he needs in order to guide him through this most strange world of dance. It is so short, many times painful and pretty much like life full of short great moments.
mon cheri, memale2009, I think I understood a little but then again...you cannot deny the fact that the dancing world is not an easy world. Pain and lots of it comes with it. Of all the arts is the most badly paid and the most demanding. If a dancer gets to dance ten or 15 years great again there is much to learn out there so I hope dancers do not limit themselves. many go back to school and become doctors or physical therapist.
I deny nothing at all. But I emphasize that the artist had made a decision - he decided to live that life full of work, blood, sweat and tears. And this is the reason why I MUST encourage him: I which all the best to him, a lot of energy, optimism, love for his work!!!!!!! Il va faire son chemin. Merci, merci, Daniil! Bien sûr, son chemin sera difficile, mais d'autant plus il est à féliciter pour son courage!

Daniil is an amazing dancer. . . one that I aspired to be like during the start of my career. . . but this particular video did not satisfy me. The costume did him no justice but still the arms! protien and the gym. . . to transend gravity and be vaulnerable is no reason to look weak especially as a male dancer. If I was a girl I'd be scared shitless to have to dance next to a man who was thinner than me!
It seems to me there is a lack of turnout in the left leg and his core is loose.
Dude, he has a thin body type, he's born with that and cannot change that. He is incredibly young and he will continue to develop and build strength. His, "core is loose?" Are you kidding me? (In ballet we call it the center.) If his center wasn't lifted he wouldn't be able to do what he does without falling. I will concede that the costume is atrocious. It does nothing for his line, especially the bump sewn into the knee area. But HE GREAT and he will be INCREDIBLE!
@colts32315 Yes I agree, he is extremely talented - and well trained - but they both appear too thin to me. In a video of him taken in 2005 he did not look quite so skinny.
@Gaduntas Being too "thin" is generally not viewed as a "problem" in ballet. The only time it might be a liability (for some fans) is when the dance requires a bare upper body.
i do sidagree on alot u are saying, but I do agree that he needs to hit the gym... a little muscle around the arms and such will look much better on stage...
I was in the same ballet school in Japan with Miki Hamanaka. I remember she was the nicest and loveliest person in the very competitive and stressful environment. I wish I can thank her for her kindness... Congratulations on your success Miki-san! She so deserves it. I will always cheer for her.
This part 2 has so much emotion... you really connect, which is what partnering is about. It's more other-worldly than the scene of all the corps coming down the stage in arabesques (which you don't have time to show). At 8:42 the audience must have been asleep, or too stunned to applaud, or else so in the mood that they didn't realize they were looking at something inhumanly difficult and powerful. I would like a wider angle to see both you and Miki sometimes. This is a fabulous video.
OMG, DANIIL, your dancing is absolutely, awesomely fantastic. You truly are becoming one of the greatest dancers in the world!!! A pure gift from God. You are inspired by the goodness from the Heavens!!!
Yes, he's flying, it reminds me of the first time I watched he dancing to "La Spectre de la Rose" in Taipei, the first word came to my mind is"wow, he's flying~", so impressive.
but...at taipei gala perform...he made a little mistake..hehe~ he wasn't able to catch miki very correctly and let her split~but..i was funny and still amazing~
lol apparently not. Seems endemic on teh internets. No wait, not just the internet. That's life. People don't take the time (or never learned how) to really listen and then get mad for no reason (or at least not for something you actually said) until everyone's shouting... hmm, now I'm depressed.

Miki and Simkin are splendid.
A particularly correct position.
The softness of the body is outstanding.
A lead of Miki Hamanaka lets Simkin become more attractive.
miki is 10 years old older than simkin.
