Something like the sound of Soft Machine with Kevin at the helm. Robert Wyatt drums on this track, Kevin plays guitar & bass with keyboards by Mike Ratledge or David Bedford, at beginning and at 1'47 for a few seconds. While Bedford is credited with arrangement this is clearly Kevin's sound, a haunting jewel on a truly classic album. I was thrilled to find the '70 Capitol SKAO 421 USLP at World Records, Flagstaff Arizona 12 August 1978 and pay $1.99 for it, glad I still have it. What joy. =30=

@killuminati63 I don’t know about you but where I live, Geneva, Switzerland, Kevin Ayers was not really known.

I got to listen to him through a friend who worked for a record distributor at the time.

I saw the album “Joy of a Toy” and became addicted. I was maybe 15/16 yrs old and navigated on Moody Blues, John Mayall, Pink Floyd at the time. That was different and fascinating kind of music.

So eerie the lyrics is, but I like it. It has a perfect, fantastic story in it and the boundary between reality and dream is totally obscured, undefined, seems interchangeable therein.
