I doubt that Georgian people have the same values and goals as Mr. Saakashvili (otherwise they wouldn't protest) and they were probably shocked when he called for American occupation of Georgian ports. He would take off on the first flight to US and you'd probably end up splited by Tbilisi wall.

This has been in the planning for the past several months. I have been following the saber rattling. On the issue of how we didnt see this coming I'm not sure. First the US had Advisor on the ground traning the Georgian military. From all of the open source photos I've seen, those are T90 Main Battle Tanks and BMP-3's with Reactive Armor installed on them. That takes time to do, and they would have had to stage them somewhere for at least 48-72 hours.

Well, if it is so bad that we built an oil pipeline in Georgia to pump oil to Europe so that Russia would not control it all and be able to hold Europe hostage then call us guilty. You people need to wake up to the coming storm. Russia is grabbing up oil like crazy. When they control it all (with the exception of our good friends in Iran, Saudi Arabia, Venezuela) then everybody will be forced to do their bidding or face the consequences.
