At the time, there weren't a whole lot of other racing games with this kind of wild vehicle customization. It was a new concept back then. I think I speak for everyone when I say that this is one of the most missed elements in the Need for Speed franchise. A cool car selection is great, but I think all the hardcore NFS players want to mod their rides like this again.

Man rx-7 to the supra and rhode the supra till i got the skyline. 12 hours it took me to beat this game the first day it came out. i went to my buddys house he had just ogtten it..Tried it one time and on the way home stopped bought it went home and played...many hours. Street Rod is a car tunning game, this is just ( Oh I have the most obnoxious body-kit therefore my car is the fastest ) And for some reason, they mostly picked gay cars for this game, (with the exception of the RX7, Supra, S2000, 240sx, skyline and WRX) I didn't see any mustangs, Camaro's, trans am's, Monte's, Regals, Cutlasses Grand Prix's, vipers or vettes! but there were focuses and neons! why they put shitty domestics in this game is beyond me
