  • Has anyone here ever heard of the Panic of 1837? You know, the economic collapse that was a direct result of Andrew Jackson's PISS POOR fiscal policies? I mean for Christ's sake... way to pick and choose your history to make it appear to support your misguided point.

  • @thebordox - the economy collapsed because Biddle had the power to crash it by calling in loans and freezing the money supply. that is what he warned jackson he would do ... and he did it. the economy continued to flounder afterwards because van buren was largely ineffective when it came to economic matters.

  • I just finished watching: The Secret of Oz - Winner, Best Docu of 2010 - that's where I learned President Andrew Jackson paid off the national debt, and as an added bonus, an assassin tried to kill him with 2 pistols and missed (or something like that)

  • Ron Paul is not the first presidential candidate wanting to eliminate the Federal Reserve. Reagan wanted to do it, JFK wanted to do it...

Everybody should see this video because the point is made very clearly through thhe comparison with history. Ron Paul is the only chance for 2012.

  • Andrew Jackson was cruel to native americans but he did also accomplish one of the greatest acheivements of any president. He abolished the 2nd BUS and paid off the national debt. If JFK lived we would be in a much different situation bc he tried to abolish the Federal Reserve.

  • Nice video. All your facts are accurate, with the exception of the mispronunciation of Ben Bernanke's last name.

  • Andrew Jackson came up with the spoiled system. I blame him for every problem we see today.

  • I'll bet Ron Paul could pay off the national debt in two terms if we'd only listen to him.

  • Dude, you are wrong --

Ron Paul can pay the debt off in ONE term!

    RON PAUL 2012!

  • I'd be happy if we DIDN'T BORROW ANY MONEY from this point on.

  • true that!

  • buddy money is debt

it is impossible to pay off the debt because of interest

  • Ron Paul wants to convert the money back to gold and silver as legal tender. Thus destroy the debt that way.

  • Jackson is really maligned because of his policy towards the Native Americans. I don't think it's something to be proud of.

But, Jackson was right about the bank.

  • It was actually Jefferson that came up with the Indian Removal Act. It was just Jackson that implemented it.

  • Sorry, about all the posts! My previous four were originally meant to be one, but I exceeded the word limit. Hopefully you'll get the point.

    Good Video.

  • In a time when we ALL seem to be losing our rights, and our government does not respect the constitution, Ron Paul has managed to refrain from being "a product of his time."

Jackson had many other questionable actions. I mentioned my perceived importance at New Orleans, but Jackson jailed a judge, declared martial law, closed the legislature, and forced the locals to fight.

  • If you really study the War of 1812, which you probably have, America may not even exist today if it were not for Jackson's brilliance at New Orleans (as well as A LOT of good fortune -- I'll elaborate if necessary).

We tend to cut the founding fathers and others some slack for their racism, because they were "products of their time."

I'm not gonna debate that until we're all blue in the face. It's hard to tell how we would have reacted. Hell, there's still too much racism for my tastes.

  • Interesting topic. I'm glad you posted this video.

That's my opinion, and I'll be happy to hear all of yours.

    Take care.

  • Andrew Jackson also made it his mission to exterminate the Native Americans, even disobeying a supreme court order. He was a cold hearted monster.

  • Won't argue with you that he was NOT loved by the Native Americans. He was, by no means, the only one who was guilty of mistreating them. The common belief at the time was that they simply would never be able to assimilate. Lots of apologies are owed by a lot of people from that time.

  • They were assimilating, unfortunately, they lived in a time when dark skinned people were not looked at as equals the the white men. It is a classic case of man's inhumanity to man.

  • One thing you can rest assured of. If Ron Paul gets the nomination you aren't looking at the skeletons in the closet and I totally believe that he would not intervine with the Lakotas taking back their land.

  • Well done on your analysis. I have read a lot about Jackson. Probably 4 or 5 books.

Ron Paul is actually much better than Jackson though. In fact, Ron Paul might be the most constitutional dude ever.

Jackson was, of course, a slaveholder, and the Trail of Tears was a prick move. apachebutterfly is correct, by the way... they were assimilating. They were farming their own property in that state like everyone else.

  • Good video, I often wondered why Ron Paul doesn't get compared more often to Jackson.

  • great message...it's amazing the majority of people in then US (or the world that matter) country do not see this as the major issue

  • great viseo but you need some catchy background music to liven it up a bit.

  • Your message really hit home base. To have a debt upward of 50 Trillion dollars IS A CRIME. To leave this debt for your children to pay off is..........

  • sorry, but you simply CAN´T pay off the debt (if you keep the present money system).

Because every dollar that is printed is created as debt, not as wealth. So the money you will use to pay to reduce debt is also borrowed by the fed and also stuck with interests.

The whole money system is a systematically downward spiral.

It was never mentioned to pay off. This monetary system is just a fraud.

And in 6 years it will celebrate its 100th anniversary.

Happy birthday... it makes me sick!

  • Well. Ron Paul wants to change the whole effing system. So when you have surplus, you actually do not pay part of surplus just to pay for an interest on this surplus. It is so fucking complicated, I still don't understand it, but I am trying to study myself.
