"So what did you think of the other band??.....................Who??!lol
Killer version best SRV vid around...he ain't Freddie King, but that smokes.....at least he didn't cheese it out like Beck where it sounds like the theme to Spy Hunter.lol
I believe this is from the last known footage of him. Although, he closed this set with Voodoo Chile. I'm just quoting someone else who had a clip on here, so that's how I know, but no, I wasn't actually there, I wasn't even a year old yet.
@bluesify100 There's actually footage of him playing two nights after this in Denver and there's footage of him on the first night of Alpine Valley (I have footage of that on my channel)
Thank you for posting this. I saw him one time a long time ago and it's really appreciated that you took the time to post this. I listen to those same 5 or 6 CD's in my car almost everyday and they never get old to me. This video made my day. The world could have used a little more SRV.
Stevie Ray is the only guy who can do this song any better than Freddie King! Awesome version, too bad there is not a single version of this song by Stevie Ray available on CD.
I do not believe Leo Fender thought that his creation was ever meant to sound anything like this. I mean really..... this is absolutely insane, and whats even more unbelievable is he played this song hundreds of times and never played it the same way twice. I always wonder which stratosphere he would have taken his music next. Jazz-blues? blues -flamenco-jazz-rock? Guess we'll never know.... thank God for the people who post this stuff.
Awesome. I've said it before, but no one, nowhere will ever replace Stevie. Ever. He was one in a million. Thank you for posting! Love you always, Sevie.
To be disrespectful to Stevie you need to be a really sick bastard . He was music , spontaneous , honest and powerful . more than any other motherfucker in the world .
a damn lot of people is into stevies guitar and gear , even bought the fucking texas specials . YOU WILL NEVER SOUND LIKE HIM . he was a genious & one of a kind the sound is in the man. the only way to become bigger is being ourselves and doing good soulful blues . finding our own sound like he did

@edmeixtervonfrague Amen brother! I had the pleasure of meeting Stevie a couple of times, and I can tell you that he was as sincere off stage as he was on. The cat played his heart out at every performance, and he always nailed it. The great thing about Stevie's playing is that it was as you said, spontaneous. He didn't over-think the music. Pure blues comes from the soul, not the head. Real blues fans respect Stevie, and we miss him terribly.
great song choice. What a great job of paying homage to one of his heroes without it being a "cover band" version, makes it his own for the night. thanks for posting. Freddy would be proud if he could sit here and watch this.
BTW. Superstition and Goin Down done by Beck is better than Stevie's versions? Are you fuckin crazy or what? Everybody with a brain and a pair of clean ears would tell you that SRV covered them better, a lot better, also, Come on isn't a "note for note" cover of a Hendrix's cover, Stevie again did it in his own, unique and original way, for crying out loud, he never ever even played a song the same way twice, he was known for his long jams, improvisations, etc...
What the hell are you saying? Are you fuckin blind or what? Read again the comments if you have a hard time understanding it wise guy. The guys are right, both of them. If you think they are wrong than you certainly are not a real guitar player/musician, only a moron and a retard can go over such clear facts and try to go on with their sick and retarded ideas that make no sense like that Geep dude.
@grga888 Sorry, but there are sizable numbers of listeners with brains and clean ears who still feel that Beck did just about the definitive "Going Down," and frankly, I think it's the superior version as well. I love SRV (and saw him three times in person), but this isn't his best track by a long shot.
Geep, you brainwashed moron, this isn't a just a "ordinary cover for example note for note replicating the original and bringing nothing new in it". Stevie was widely known that when he did covers of some songs that he would play them in his own unique and original way, totally different from the original, not to mention that some of his covers were even better than the originals. Only a retard can deny it.
ur name went from tony to the srv nazi when u joined the "hate dead musicians club, for no good reason besides the fact that ur an angry cold hearted fuck who somehow amuses himself by flaunting his insane dumb ideas on youtube so he can get attention and make srv fans and music fans pissed of, sad and offering the only possible buz kill to any srv song that we all want to cherish" hows that for a title MEIN DOUCHEBAG
SRV still has friends and family alive today and you should not be making such disgusting comments. I would truly love to stab you in the face for making those vile comments, but sadly the law does not allow that pleasure for a law abiding citizen. I do hope though, that you contract something like a seriously painful and slow cancer, and I will be praying to a vengeful God that this comes to pass.
This is a good version. ....Eh, but Copyists??? Heh! This is a cover of a cover of a cover. Check out the Jeff Beck group version , the record, just unreal, superb, and then Superstition by Beck, Bogert & Appice for whom S. Wonder wrote it. You will see how SRVs Superstition is a cover of the cover. Also check out Come On ( let the good times roll ) a virtual note for note cover of Hendrix's cover.
