There are no "straights", there are no "gays". etc...etc... there are just men and women. That's all. The rest are social and political constructions to nowhere
@CallumJ230 Without an identity, there would be no reason for a government because people would just split into different countries. People need a reason to stand together as a nation.
@mysterygirl154 Im just saying america's and canada's identity is to be diffrent because there culture consists of mass immigration since the discovery of the Americas, if ya get my drift?
@mysterygirl154 Thats what im trying to say, yup but as a person thats never been to north america, thats the view i have on it but its probaly diffrent for people that live there.
@CallumJ230 I live in Canada and I feel that the rights of a citizen should also extend to the LGBT community (I was rather proud when we legalized gay marriage). However, I don't think that the immigration is a part of why we should be accepting it. There are a lot better reasons for accepting them as part of our identity.
@mysterygirl154 All i ment was that because of the diffrences of your country due to diffrent types of people, canada has diffrent cultural identities which meens it should be diffrent in every way.
Isn't marriage an institution crafted by the church. I guess church should patent the word or at least trademark it. I guess the ingredients of a marriage are a man and woman thrown together bounded by chains of love, anything else besides this should be termed as a civil union. Shit, crap, poop, call it what ever ultimately its excreta. If you call it civil union, how does the love between the gay couple gets affected, beats me. Any ways who cares
@G41MCombo even so many religions and religious sects have differing opinions on this. The United Church, some Anglican churches, a number of liberal synagogues, various first nations faiths, forms of buddhism, wicca and pagan beliefs, all support same-sex marriage.
@jonohaz A lot of faiths in the world also support child marriages and incest, doesn't mean it justifies child marriages and it should be encouraged in America. Similarly we don't want to believe in same sex marriages and do not want to encourage them in our place. If you so want to be married move over to these places and get married no one is stopping you.
The thing is, marriage is not just a legal issue, it's a religious issue as well. The U.S. has a separation between church and state. Maybe if that tradition was followed with marriage, it wouldn't be a big deal. If there were two different unions, one religious and one legal, maybe this wouldn't be a big issue. Just a thought.
Wow.... CanadaFamilyMan... Shut the hell up. You're making us Canadians look really bad. Thank God (lol I made a funny... there is no God!) that you're a minority in Canada.
God would want you to accept others and lift others up, no matter who they are. You're not a true follower of Jesus until you do that. I think you know in your heart that you could do better to accept people and lift them up instead of tearing them down.
I am not even a Christian and I know better than you. I feel sorry for any children you are raising...hopefully they have a loving adult in their lives.
I don't believe I "tore anyone down" in any of my comments. I don't hate gays. I met 1 from another country a few months ago & I like this person. Don't put down how I think of individuals based on my distress of how CDN society has gotten. You're wrong to imply that I'm a bad parent & bad as a Christian, because you don't know me. Please don't resort to personal attacks, for all the world to see. It's very unkind of you, sir.
It made it more tolerant? Ya... it's such a tragedy that religion (responsible for more harm, negativity, and violence in this world then it does good) is losing a hold on our society.
What is this great country coming to? Why did God let this happen? Why?!?!
Erivah, you're being typically atheist, blaming religion. The Bible, if you'd read it, teaches love, but also says what behaviours are wrong. The problem isn't religion, the problem is people who use it in an abusive way.

Straight Canadians are now too self-centred to want to have children, & they don't even want to be married. So why do gays here want to be married? To prove they're better at marriage than straights? Forget it!

Multiculturalism has destroyed our own identity, & Canadians now say "anything is acceptable". They've turned their backs on God, & that's created selfishness, misery, & a complete lack of morality. It is no wonder that no other country in the world has adopted multiculturalism. It has done nothing but harm.
haha, you're nuts. Multiculturalism is something to be proud of. Canada is a country many different colors and religions and sexual orientations, and you should be proud to be one little piece of the spectrum.
Until you realize your own insignificance, you can't understand how significant you really are.

If you Americans had multiculturalism, you'd have most of the world laughing at you, & saying "You Americans have no identity of your own!" That's how most countries treat Canadians, because of multiculturalism. And if USA was known for gay marriage, you'd have people from other countries on youtube calling all of you gay. That's what we have to deal with from too many Americans, & most of us resent that greatly. I know Americans would be furious, if they had to put up with that.
@CanadaFamilyMan Why do people treat being called gay as an insult? And don't use yourself as a voice for all of Canada it makes the rest of us look bad.
@CanadaFamilyMan oh please, so how do you think people in those places that know nothing about the Bible still maintain morality? and multiculturalism sure is a good thing since we are living in a flat world now.
@CanadaFamilyMan When was it that God said multiculturalism is bad? And supporting basic human rights is a lack of morality? What do you consider morality? Our identity is intact; we have maple leaves, hockey, Tim Hortens, and acceptance to unite us ;D. Our multiculturalism does not split us apart, it brings us together. We are a country that accepts all people regardless of race, religion, or sexual orientation, and I'm sorry to hear that you don't agree with that.
@SunnyHappy2008 I think it's because of multiculturalism that there are so many "what does it mean to be a Canadian" videos on youtube. If people knew the answer, they wouldn't ask that question so often. And please read my reply to Kalousx.
@CanadaFamilyMan Well, what does it mean to be American? Or British? German? These aren't questions that are easy to answer because people have different ideas of what it means to be from a certain country. Maybe people are just more vocal about Canada. To say that we have turned our back on God and that we have a complete lack of morality is unintelligent, ignorant, and just plain rude.
@CanadaFamilyMan There is no God. Only Humanity, which if we continue on this path of stupidity and following a non-existent man in the clouds we are screwed.
@CanadaFamilyMan Right, places like Great Britain and New Zealand and the US haven't adopted multiculturalism at all, that or they're just doing horrible as countries -_-
@StardustWolf they're not doing horrible as countries if they aren't practising multiculturalism. Multiculturalism is really just a fucking joke made up by a whole bunch of liberal pansies that don't know what they're doing.

what a dumb commercial.
I guess people have to use the "honor system" because there is no way to detect a gay from a straight by looking at them. Unlike the Blacks who REALLY suffered discrimination.
I guess the gays will have to just be honest and say to the taxi driver "go ahead, I'm gay. Can't ride." or take the stairs as part of the honor system...
what a dumb commercial. comparing this to the blacks. what disrespect.
