I just purchased a tanto scarab bead blast (02/10) production and as im watching your video i see mine has the holes in the rear / back like the navy seals edition. Did they change this? Would mine work underwater? Thanks.
Not asking you to conduct another Microtech underwater test-- but the Stealth model Scarab is absent venting on the blade, but does have drainage holes at the base of the handle. Do you feel the Scarab Stealth would also pass an underwater immersion test? Thanks
@apophysis7 I noticed that all the single edge Scarabs I see have drainage holes at the rear of the handle. I suspect that the holes are just not large enough to allow underwater operation. I will now be looking for a used and abused S/E Scarab ...
@TheHyouth The point of this knife is to give you options. Also, how do you figure that a knife has no real use? I have an abused utx-70 that would be offended by that comment.
@TheHyouth There really isn't much an emerson knife will do that a microtech halo won't. The halo series is extremely strong, durable, and well constructed. I'm an emerson fan, and a microtech fan. Dont hate on a knife company when you've never given their products a chance.
Nice knife but overpriced for sure! I should have bought a dozen 5 years ago.Don't use one in self defense & wait around for the cops unless you have a military,DOD,police, etc ID.Even defense against an international terrorist i would imagine the courts would try to prosecute the hero even if it's for very good intentions. Has anyone ever actually used one in the CIVILIAN real world in self defense? .02

The only thing worth defending your life with is a firearm. Knives are cool tools for sure, but I wouldn't try to fight off anyone with it. Too easy to have it turned against you.
Sweet knife though I own a couple MT side opening autos that I love. Not sure if I should go with a D/A OTF MT or Halo for my next one.
@vodkatonic100 I think you should worry a little more about how well your knife is made than how well it will slice someone open. A knife doesn't have to be all that well designed to be lethal (IE; The UK has tons of deaths in the streets by kitchen knives.) But for a knife to be a useful, durable tool, it has to be well designed and constructed. Your knife is a tool 99% of the time, and probably will never be used as a weapon. Think about it, mate.
OK - you filled the SEAL Scarab with water, fired it under water... and then drained it, submerged it again & then retracted the blade. Was the knife completely filled with water before retracting it?
Can the knife fire & retract without being drained before the retract?
@Odessa45 Yes, I only took it out of the bucket to show that the blade was fully locked open. Once it was resubmerged, water filled the handle back up through the openings and slits. The knife can fire and retract while underwater without interruption.
i'm an outdoors/survival knife guy not a tactical knives guy but goddamn i sure wudnt turn down a microtech navy seals scarab :p

@vodkatonic100 The only time I have used a knife in self defense is when the UPS box was coming right for me and I had to cut it open.
