Wait a second, wait a second....... Portia talked about her name change (from Amanda to Portia) in The Advocate in 2005. So since this interview is in 2007, how come she didn't correct Regis when he talked about her family history being Italian because of her name???? I don't get that............ anyone else agree??
@MirandaAugust64 It's different talking about it in a magazine than on television. But yeah, Portia completely avoided it. She was maybe apprehensive about explaining the name change as she was still scared what people would think.

@grkchick she wasn't in the recovery process. she had already completely recovered and had met ellen. this was november 2007. ellen and portia got together in december 2004. so she did this interview about 3 years after they got together. she recovered in the beginning/middle-ish of 2004

@The7MISSFITS ik ik i saw the interview similar but not the same though. both times she sed she wanted something diff and exotic. but, in The Advocate interview, she had simply sed that she wanted 2 change it becuz she sed it "didnt feel right" as she was realizing she was gay. the runner thing was in Oprah interview.
