    GT2 did the ring in 7.34 seconds. Tell me, how is it possible that the GT-R can beat the GT2 on the ring? The GT-R accelerates slower (if you dont believe the GT2 acclerates faster then you should just leave), has less hp and weighs more, and achieved only .96 lateral g's to the GT2's 1.10 g's!

    First test was done by Porsche. GT-R ran 7.54. The most recent test done was 7.56 seconds NOT BY PORSCHE DRIVERS.

    You OBVIOUSLY do not know what you're talking about. It's like arguing with a wall.

    And again, it's NOT possible for the GT-R to outrun/out-handle the GT2. There was a test where the GT-R put down a very identical lap time to the GT3 (non-RS) model in the same hour. GT2>GT3 RS>GT3.

  • BOTH tests had the GT-R doing 20+ sec SLOWER than 7.29. If you knew the ring, 20 sec difference on the same car with a great driver is a HELL of a difference.

    One of the mags tested the GT-R and the Porsche GT2 on the ring. The HARDER TO DRIVE GT2 nearly matched its quickest time. The GT-R was over 20 secs off its time of 7.29.

  • Im not a Nissan fan as such but i am a big GTR/Skyline fan, so if the porsche was the same price and no catches as the GT-R it would be a hard choice, but id definately lean towards the Porsche just because you'd know how much it actually costs, but that aside even and if they were always the same price and noone knew price wise what the Porsche was i'd take the GT-R anyday of the week....

    At the lights is the 1 place where rear-enginedness beats ever other configuration. (Yes, front-engined AND mid-engined). It's just from then on (changes in direction and cornering) that rear-enginedness is a relative disadvantage.

    Repect to the GTR, though - quick around the TopGear test track as a ~620bhp Carrera GT..

  • to be fair the porsche set off first check replay. rest was even. but the 997 has 0-60 of 3.8 manual or 3.4 with the auto. the gtr has 3.5 with the launch control or 3.9 with out. they are both more or less the same. except for price.

  • the r35 isn't maxed out, you can upgrade the turbos. even american companies like Hennessey is making kits for this thing, and are planning to push it beyond 1000hp. they already made a 700hp kit for it called godzilla 700. the transmission issues that you speak of are from idiots using launch control for racing after turning lsd off. they specifically tell you not to turn lsd off, or you void your warranty. yea it's kinda dumb that they even have a switch to turn it off. but thats whatsup

Where i live there is usually traffic (los angeles), so the real question is, would i rather sit in a crappy, poorly decorated interior of the nissan, or a nice classy porsche?? I would choose the porsche (out of all, an Aston Martin DBS). and those cars are EXTREMELY fast in terms of normal cars, so so what, a DBS can only make 4.1 seconds...still faster than the average honda, and i still look good too!!

  • The Nissan is an extremely fast car, but the launch control is sort of cheating when pitted up against cars that don't have that feature. put launch control on a 911, and the Nissan wouldn't stand a chance. It depends on the driver! AND YES! sometimes drivers have bad days and bad laps! The nissan just has no class and looks horrid, and well, its priced cheaply for a reason, it's only going to attract young wannabe's who think they have class because their car is fast! I would buy the Porshce!

  • I agree. My 08 Turbo is an awesome car. From a fit, finish, quality of materials standpoint, racing legacy, etc - there is nothing in its league. Nissan designed the GTR to beat it. They too have a long legacy going back to the skyline. Hate to say it, the Nissan is a faster car. Fast has to do with one thing, fast. Nothing else. Nissan has built a great car hear. What would I rather drive - the 911, but rather driving is not the criteria
