Exactly what do you mean by work? While some in South Yorkshire where I live do live on benefits, we're not all like that. My family is not like that. Whst you are describing as ''pounce of the state'' (which doesn't make any sense) is only in rough areas. There's plenty of people who would resent such opinions because they do work and dislike those that don't. Not all Notherners are as you describe. And no one really likes work but that doesn't mean all people don't bother.

Dennis Skinner is one the best MPs ever. He's a great guy and will often attend local events (His local library celebrated 25 years the other year and he was there chatting to everyone -all ordinary folks - in fact he even talked to me when I was outside having a ciggie!). He's one of the good guys - a true old fashioned socialist. he's really loved by people in his constituency! Good on ya Dennis!

@timtranslates I love it. "From whence" has been used steadily by reputable writers since the 14th century, most notably in the King James Bible translation. Such a respectable precedent makes it difficult to label the construction as incorrect. It is an issue of syntax usage, not literacy. Surely you would not classify Shakespeare, Dickens, Poe, Dryden, and Austen as illiterate or poorly read. What is archaic in the English language is not obsolete. You just do not like his politics.

I live and work in The Netherlands now for a major airline but the good thing is that I draw a RAF pension, which is loads of cash, for the 20 years of service I did. I receive it TAX FREE and make a small contribution to the Dutch tax system.
