  • the album was pure art, even though i didnt like this one

  • martin hanett was genius ! electronic sounds...& post-punk guitars...master of dark music..great producer..rest in peace...

  • Emotions captured in music.

That's what they were and still are.

    V.O.I.D.MK20

  • I'm so deliriously happy that this video started with a "Glee" promo commercial. It's just so fucking appropriate.

  • The beginning reminds me a bit of Tom Sawyer- Rush but only just a little.

  • We were strangers.

We were strangers, for way too long, for way too long,

We were strangers, for way too long.

    Violent, violent,

    Were strangers.

  • ian knew, ian fucking knew

  • 0:48 - Fuck yeah.

  • I remember everything.

  • masterpiece....

  • Ian's voice is the punk spirit of joy division, singing lessons fucking hell.

  • So far the song that touched me from a distance.

  • best of the best of the best

  • Listen to the tone on Hooky's Rick! (Rickenbacker) You can't beat a tone like a Rick. :D

  • We love you Ian! And Peter Hook's epic bass skills beat any bass player's!

  • 4 people don't remember Joy Dvision....

  • i need this record!

  • After all those years its unbelieveble that I am still alive.

  • Muito bom!

  • 0:48 love the brokin' glass into Ians beauty. this album was mixed so well, this band is still ahead of time as of 25AUG11. God bless.

  • Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

    Were strangers.

  • This is too good. I feel the purity and power of this sound coming through my headphones...honest, bleak, unrelenting, raw, undulating depths of sorrow and mystery...

What an incredible musical outfit. No desire for fame, for riches, for the quick path to plasticized pseudo stardom, just honest artistic vision and execution, fueled by genuine suffering.

This is my favourite band, I think.

  • i love joy division.. but ian needed singing lessons

nothing wrong with it even the best singers take lessons

  • @MaTchBoOkPoEt dont need to have a good voice to be a great vocalist..cause he didnt have a tuned voice, you can hear all the emotion thats in his voice.

  • @MaTchBoOkPoEt hmm..i doubt

  • 4:19 fucking epic!

  • @TheMrmoonman1969 THAT WAS AN ATROCITY YOU NEED TO SPEAK FROM YOUR HEART AND SOUL ITS NOT LIKE YOU'RE TWENTY FOUR GET OUT OF THE ETERNAL AND MOVE IN FOR THE KILL

  • @MrMOONMAN1969 WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

  • This is my favorite Joy Division song.

  • Not all fans! Just that whole indie cooler than you image.

  • @mutinyinheav3n Below

  • amazing! my favorite album by far!

  • thanks for posting from Iquique, Chile

  • Thanks for posting from Ohio

  • The glass breaking gets me almost every time.

  • @halfcabdisaster7 That's my favorite part too along with the guitar

  • Perfection in music.

  • @ScarvoHumanoid0012 that's cool too. I still don't hear it though but I wish I did.

  • @ScarvoHumanoid0012 Ian was inspired by the Doors. I don't hear it but that is a great thought. Can you explain it to me?

  • God didn't like this song because he realized that a human just created something better that he did...

  • One of the greatest records of the seventies- awesome.

  • I have always loved this song... But now the power of it really hit me hard. :(

  • Not the sort of music you would expect to pull by...but it happened

  • i'am agree,, its a good song!

  • @diewrecked emo fags? the members of joy division were soccer hooligans.. emo didnt exist in the 70s

  • @diewrecked lol dumbass

  • I was expecting a poem written in your own blood or something, but a simple "dumbass" will suffice. It was a joke, sorry if you are afflicted with emotional trauma. I LOVE Joy Division, I do. I HATE their fans though. Mainly: You. Add in generic insult, some insight and a trivial quote from a dead guy... dumbass. It was their band, not yours. They were ahead of the curve, not you the fan.

  • @diewrecked I agree. Joy Division's great. But if anyone here has on Buddy Holly glasses, a pair of converse allstars and a nonchalant attitude about everything, fuck you!

  • @JimmyDFFDBorneo ROFL!

I don't like people that like it just because it is obscure atm.

  • @JimmyDFFDBorneo Lol Ian used to wear Converse.

  • fucking awesome album, this is depressive shit from the 70's...

  • Nothing more powerful than this image or this song.

Pulses from a dying star. Just think about that for a minute.

  • @casiotone1331 What!!? That's what THAT was!!? Oh my God, and I thought the Closer album struck a chord? whoa

  • for way too long

  • The more I life the more I die We will always remind Ian for the rest of my life.

  • "me and my own world"

  • @Dram6669 i think it is "me in my own world"

  • WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

  • A 5 star song: I Remember Nothing - Joy Division [Salford, Greater Manchester, England]- 1979 - "A fine ending to this album and the vocals reminds me of Jim Morrison (The Doors) at times. Good first impression with the guitar HOOKS/drum work." - Unknown Pleasures (Collector's Edition) [Extra Tracks] (Rhino) [Disc 1]-2007.

  • thanks for posting from Thessaloniki Greece :D

  • RIP Ian, your influence is stronger than ever 30 years later.

  • @vanuaturocks It seems like it has taken 30 years for Joy to be current.

So very far ahead of their time.

  • The first time I ever heard this was when I had insomia and was flicking through songs on my ipod - just, wow. Staring at the night sky whilst listening to this made it even more powerful.

  • come to england theres loads of indie coltures here :) joy division are awesome r.i.p ian

  • thanks for posting from Athens Greece

  • nice to know there are more than just metalheads in greece, i'm a greek australian and was recently in athens, my cousin and all his friends/ everyone i talked to was either into clubbing or extreme metal! i couldn't find any indie culture :(

  • yes whatever ahahah

  • @MLiveriadis hahah, in argenina all the people is into tropical shit, football and dancing, so your country is not so fucked up.

  • Thanks for posting from Patra Greece :P

  • @NewDarkAge79 South Wales UK Awesome!

  • Fantastic album. Thanks for posting. R.I.P. Ian :'(

  • @pfonyt I just wish that songs like "She Lost Control" or "Transmission" were just recorded live from bbc records. The albums made it sound so light while live they're chopping heads lol.

  • @Kento617 ~ Well, I've to say that "I Remember Nothing" ... kidding!

Kidding a part, I really think that the "light sound" you are referring to is all the "fault" of Martin Hannett's genius.

  • @pfonyt well maybe so but I just like the live versions better than the album ones. But yeah he was a Genius, especially with Disorder!

  • @Kento617 ~ I like them both, live and in studio. About their live gigs, I've always loved and still love to see Ian (Curtis) dancing. Did you see Radiohead's new music video for "Lotus Flower" with Thom Yorke dancing? It's on U2be on their official channel. Well, I do not know why and I also know that it is not quite the same thing, but when I first saw that video and York dancing, that dance reminded me so much of Ian.

It's Easter weekend and that means one thing... Happy Holidays!

  • @pfonyt yeah I seen that video too, it was awesome. Have a great Easter
