iceland is awosome, so empty so spiritual...and that fields...god,that empty green fields...and great Sigur Ros...feel like I am in love for the first time
Indeed it is Stykkisholmur! For very random reasons I spent my second night in your village (first one was in Kaffibarinn in Reykjavik) Great place, feels like the end of the world
i'm coming to iceland in april 2008 and i cant wait. i'm planning on driving the ring road and if i have time i want to goto isafjordour. i just hope the weather is ok for the week or so that i'm there.
lildelox, I live in Iceland, and its very "normal food" We Eat about the same as all europian do, But on one month of the year then we eat VERY strange food like, Sheep intesnes. Sheep head, Beefs Balls(Yes i know, disgusting, but i don't eat it haha)
And alot of other disgusting food, But don't Worrie, We Have Alot Of Diffrent food, You can get whatever you eat in your country. Sjáumst.
I'm from Iceland myself, but I life in Denmark right now, and have also lived in France, but trust me, I miss Iceland so much! This video does truly show the beautiful sides of Iceland, bur folks don't go around thinking that Iceland isn't very modern or up to date, because belive it or not, Iceland actually is :) Thank you again !
Thanks Nurfla.. What amazes me from your country is that given the small population you have, there is a huge number of artists, musicians, writers.. Undoubtly there is some hidden energy flowing around!
The trip was great, it's such a beautiful country.. The food was alright, nothing special.. we tried the worldwide famous rotten shark, which is NOT recommended at all!
yeah, we were the last week of Sept. It was between 0 and 10 degrees celsius... there are variations depending if you are on the coast/mountain, if it's windy or not, etc
No just kidding, it's much warmer then, you should definitly go in June og July, that's the warmest months.
Im from Iceland btw, but I live in Denmark and used to live in France also.
Oh yeah, and the shark is not recommended, but I would try it, just so you can tell your friends. They usally eat it (it's just tiny bites) first and afterwards drink a shot :)
But belive me, that's not the food we eat there on daily basis! Cheers xoxo!
I was at Iceland 2 years ago. It's great to see this place once again by music of Sigur Ros. Best regards for bubango. This pictures are great :)) and clip as well :)))
listening to sigur ros is what sparked my interest in iceland, and ive since become obsessed. ive never been out of the states but iceland will be the first country to travel to, saving up now. this is a well done video, btw.
svenf g-englar is the best song to describe this beauty. actually iceland is a concretized way of sigur ros music. how much i love iceland, i loved sigur ros also.. i wanna visit this country soon. its the best place on earth. and wonder where is the place of photo, 0:46 second? is there someone who can help me about introducing this heaven by msn?
hey, thanks for the comment! I made the pictures as well, but honestly I can't remember where that one was taken. Somewhere in the northwest of the country, for sure. I chose that pictures because it is very representative of the landscape outside the capital: A farm, a cemetery, a church, green grass and ice on top of the mountains.
Hi Kristuna, thanks for the comment! Before going to Iceland I was introduced to Sigur Ros music, so we made sure that our car there had a Cd player and drove around the island just listening to Them. It was the perfect match ;)
That footage of the geyser was awesome! I really want to go to Iceland very soon. Thank you for this video and pictures. Can I ask, how do you go about getting from one side of the country (Reykjavik) to the other (where Dettifoss is.) Is there a special tour scheme, or do you have to catch trains and hike?
qué bacán Islandia, debe ser perfecto estar por ahí en cualquier paraje rural de Islandia, en total comunión con la naturaleza...me encanta el viento también!!
Iceland should be probably nicest country in the world. Next year i want to go to Iceland for a week. I have a good friend in Borgarnes. And Icelandic people are very nice and friendly people as wll!!
I've never been to Icelad but this just makes me want to go even more! Very nice job on the collage and the music choice is superlative! Thanks for sharing.
thanks for the comment! I've been to many places..but I can promise that Iceland is unique. Visit the capital city, meet local people and then go around the country, the landscape is just like Sigur Ros music, beautiful and misterious...
wow. I am in love with Iceland...that place stirs something deep inside my heart - can't quite put my finger on it. I hope I capture pictures as wonderful as yours when I'm there. And great touch with Sigur Ros, they seem to flawlessly reflect the isolated beauty found in Iceland.
ok this is my third comment and if your coming here ill make this brief 1:buy an extra bag and stuff it with our water.2:make a visit to Vatnarjökull.
3:try the steak.4:try our candy i recommend Nói rjóma súkkuði kúlur.5:take in our and if your american learn about Leifur heppni6:look to the sky a few times because ive seen better sunsets
I want to live there. I was planning to study at the University of Iceland, but was dissapointed to discover that I would need to study for a couple years at a US university first because a high school diploma from the us is not the same as an icelandic maltriculation certificate. oh well...
thanx for posting this vid ! i still return in my mind back when i stayed one year on this bizzare piece of rock in the northern atlantic... magic piece of world, can't describe it... it has to influence everyone.when staying in the emtiness of the island, when breathing the cold air, close to the pure nature... eh,i hope i'll get there one day.for ever...
Hi Emma. I'm hoping to go next year and as your from the UK too can you give me any advice on prices? I'm thinking of going for just 3 days for my first visit to get a taster as that's all can afford aswell. I know roughly about airfare and accomidation but how much spending money do you think i need for food and trips etc for 3 days? cheers.
Im just back from iceland. See when i try to tell my family what its like i cant find the words, think everyone has a different experience. I need to go back when the northern lights are there so ill start saving again
Hi Emma... I think the video is quite representative of the landscape in Iceland..we just missed some more images from Reykjavik... and by the way, northern light are unpredictible, we were told that in September we wouldn't watch any and there you go...an amazing green light above us (picture was taken in the south, somewhere between Hofn and Vik!)
Hi Gvendur! I still can't understand why you guys appreciate the rotten shark, it tastes like hell!! hehe The sunset is actually a sunrise near the Jokursalon area where we had the chance to camp... Cheers
Hey, Well i guess it runs in the blood, some icelanders don´t like it espacially young women. Jokulsarlon is very beutiful, went there last summer and camped by the glacier for 2 days. I´m wondering how far did you guys go to the east? did you drive around the coastline?
That's exactly what we did.. Stikkysholmur, Akureyri, Sejdisfjordur, Hofn, etc... 2000 Km in 5 days, that must have been a Guiness record considering the poor quality of your roads!! ;-)
